Ever gotten a crude comment before? I know I have.... Just yesterday, it went something like this

*in biology class doing a lab*
Boy: Hey [insert my real name] no hate, but do you wear those yoga pants everyday?
Me: No, I have like five pairs of them, I really don't like jeans, they're uncomfortable
Boy: I don't like it when girls where jeans, then I can't see their booty. So thanks for letting me see the booty.
Me: umm.... That's creepy *retreats feeling very uncomfortable and hating high school*

And considering I'm very modest about what I wear- no skirts or shorts, I'm usually wearing some kind of loose long sleeve jacket on top of a t-shirt... I kind of felt like My efforts were in vain anyways. Not to mention this same kid has said equally gross things before, not that he's the only one.

Anyone else had similar experiences? How do you handle it?

Just me personally I find it ironic that you wear yoga pants that leave nothing to the imagination yet consider yourself to be a young lady that dresses modestly.

That is when you begin learning sarcastic retorts.

I'm sorry that happened LostBattle. I would have felt really uncomfortable too, and wouldn't have known what to say. :(

It IS a good indication of what boys are thinking when they see yoga pants though. They are super comfy but best kept at home. But yeah, he still should never have said that to you.

She's 14, yes yoga pants are tight and maybe she's wearing a long shirt over them. The point is, that boy shouldn't have said that to her regardless of the yoga pants, which I'm sure you'll all agree.

Honey I'm not trying to be rude but maybe you should chose another style of pants to wear or make sure you wear a cute skirt over it or something.

Unfortunately I think most women and men have been subjected to crude behavior. The person who would say something like that might think it's flattering, but it's not.

I don't think people who say crude comments are trying to be flattering, I think they usually assume the person they are talking to is on the same plane as them, or in the same gutter as the case may be.

Yoga pants.... not modest, but the comment was still crude.

Theyre re not exactly "yoga" pants, they're straight-cut athletic pants, I like them because there fabric is breathable. I don't have an underwear line or anything when I wear them, and my jacket and/or shirt falls well past where it needs to.

In case anyone's wondering, here they are on target.com: click

Additonally, they hang loosely around my legs at all times and points, nothing skintight.

They sound a lot like a form fitting athletic pant - IE a yoga pant. Even with a loose cut, they are going to conform to the largest protrusion on the body - the backside. Frankly all pants do that, but they do so to varying extents.

I'm going to side with Fenner on this one - best paired with a skirt. The plus side is women look great in skirts. Like really and truly great.

Look none of us are judging you for what you wear. The fact is that same pervy guy would be staring at your backside if you wearing jeans or if you were wearing a burka. Just bear in mind that even loosely cut, those ultra breathable fabrics tend to conform to the body's natural curvature.

The guy is still a jerk, and you didn't do anything wrong, but if you're trying to keep from getting ogled, you might want to step up your game and change things up a bit. It's hard to find a guy who actually tries his best not to stare, and when you do find him, it's best to make it easier on the guy as much as possible.

The thing is I 1) do not own a single skirt that is not incredibly dressy/meant for formal events -.- 2) I really hate skirts 3) these pants are not leggings, wearing a skirt with them would not only look/feel bulky it would be incredibly odd because the pants would be still normally cut and loose, but now have a skirt on top. I'm not even a remotely fashionable person but somehow I think I'd have problems finding a skirt that works. And a skirt without leggings.... Well, I'm very self conscious already, not to mention that I can find nothing that isn't uber short anywhere I go, even landsend, etc. I absolutely hate that they don't let us wear sweats in PE, everyone has to wear shorts and that is uncomfortable as it is.

So should I rethink wearing my yoga pants when I go out later?

I agree, the pants you showed from Target wouldn't look right with a skirt. You could wear leggings with a skirt though, and be more comfortable but still well covered.

I actually don't like wearing jeans either. I'm with you... even loose ones (my typical choice) aren't that comfortable. So this is what I do: Wear jeans when I'm out, and put sweats or something comfy on as soon as I get home.

Athletic pants are another option.

The guy was absolutely out of line to talk to you like that. He overstepped your boundary of respect. It's hard to respond immediately when a vulgar comment comes out of the blue like that. Perhaps next time you can be more prepared.

Direct eye contact with a solemn look on one's face is a very assertive move, like this:

Then explain that the comment was uncalled for and that you don't want to hear any more of that. I hope that helps. :D

okay, i want to make something clear.

some people talk in here as if there is only one kind of yoga pants, and that because of what they are aware of, know of, or have seen, ALL YOGA pants must be skin-tight, legging-style, too revealing, and immodest.

yes, these do exist. but there are more than one kind of yoga pants (just like there are different kinds of jeans, etc).

because there are more than one kind of yoga pants, and they are not all the same "extremely revealing" kinds that have been assumed to be. the kind i tend to wear are "boot cut" style, and have a fuller cut.

When a 14 year old young Christian woman comes into the forum to ask for assistance in how to handle crude comments from a rude young man at school, I think it extremely important that we help her! If she was my daughter or granddaughter, I would certainly want the people of God to help her. She asked two specific questions, neither of which had anything to do with her choice of clothing.

She asked:
1. Anyone else had similar experiences?
2. How do you handle it?

Please address those questions and try to refrain from making her feel that the crude comments were warranted. Thank you.

She did provide a link.

Yes, I understand that, Ugly. But she provided the link after it was insinuated that perhaps the comments were justified due to her clothing.

Right, but i was talking to gypsygirl specifically, who just posted recently, well after (roughly 2 hours after) the OP posted the link.
