Just found out about a Christian singles dance Saturday night, on a weekend which I don't have my kids.
Debating about going...these things could either be fun or awkward - - usually they are a little of both.
I think I would prefer going to the studio to work on a stained glass project, or to stay home and watch TV with my cats, who silently judge my viewing choices. But then again, maybe I'll go...
Instead of sitting home and being silently judged by your cats, I vote that you get out to that dance and be silently (or not-so-silently) judged by hordes of other single people instead!
Gotta switch things up every now and then...
I'm saying this because I went to some singles mixer-thingie at some church a long time ago... And I guess some girl had been watching me the whole time, because towards the end of the evening she said something really snarky to me like, "You're never going to meet someone if you just keep staring at the floor!"
I'm not sure what I'd done wrong. I'd participated in all the events and dutifully answered all the "What kinds of toppings do you like on your pizza"-type questions (did I mention this was a 20's-early 30's age range).
I decided I'd stick with my "typical" Saturday nights--watching a good science fiction (thanks to the user who told me never to use the term "sci-fi!") movie and debating over the morality of dating robots... or clones... Er... not that I'm contemplating this because as you can see, my chances of getting a date with EITHER one are pretty low. (I don't even have the skills to program a robot to be interested in dating me.)
In other words... Cat, I hope you decide to go!
(Here's to wishing you a good time and better luck than I had!)
