Grace and mercy is there for people who do seek to overcome sin. We see this in the Parable of the Tax Collector and the Pharisee. But nowhere does Jesus ever say that one will be a slave to their sin the rest of their lives. The whole purpose of the Sanctification process in a believer's life is to put away addiction to any sin within their lives as mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7.

You did not answer the question and to be honest...by your theology as applied unto everyone else you are lost because you still sin and are not PERFECT YET....so twisted in your view and contradictory in your stance you cannot even apply the same stick to yourself that you apply unto all who know that occasionally they fail and sin!
You just said in your previous post Jesus told the woman not to sin anymore (which he did. You are correct.). And you've also said on previous posts for Christians to not to sin anymore. You've mentioned you are not perfect which means you sin. Yet you are calling are out others for not being perfect. That sounds a lot like hypocrisy to me.
The key to your understanding is verse 14. Them that are sanctified are those who abide with Christ and endure with Him. Christ's blood sanctifies the believer when they walk in the light as he is in the light. 1 John 1:7 says if we walk in the light as he is in the light then the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.

According to him, one sin causes the loss of salvation and yet he will say that he does not teach a works based salvation....my question is how many times is one saved in their life if they lose it every time they fail and sin...and how do the continually gain it ack...which means that his salvation relies upon what ONE DOES and not what Christ has DONE!

No the key to understanding verse 14 is the preceding 4 verses...wake up to the truth!

No where is the word (being) found tied to sanctified.....you still fail to understand that our spiritual destiny has been set in the granite of the faith of the Son of God and is eternally saved, sealed, justified and sanctified POSITIONALLY.......
It has nothing to do with our eternal state which has been sealed in Christ...what needs to follow is OUR FLESHLY EXISTENCE which has UPS and DOWNS, successes and failures and is a day in, day out PROCESS.......WAKE UP!
Well, there is no tricking God. If one thinks they can serve God and sin, then it is not going to work out to well for them. But if one is honestly trying to overcome sin and put it behind them and they have true intentions of wanting to serve and please God in righteousness, then.... yes, God's grace is there for a person. God's grace is not as a license for a believer to do wickedness and or to think they will forever be a slave to their sin. For Jesus said to the Pharisees that he that sins is a slave to sin. Jesus was not speaking favorably of them. So no. One cannot have the mindset that they will forever be a slave to sin. For to be carnally minded is death. But to be spiritually minded is life and peace. For there is no Condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. One is walking after the flesh, when they say they will never be able to stop sinning.

We can not go and take how one walks in the faith out of the equation when it comes to salvation through Jesus Christ.....
The bible makes if very clear that if your walk goes hand and hand with your belief in Jesus. If it did not then Jesus, Paul, John, and James would not have spent most of their writings to show how one is to walk in the faith. I have mentioned before how our faith in Jesus hangs on love.
This is because our Lord Jesus, Paul, and John all three say that by the greatest fruit of the Holy Spirit which is love shows our obedience in the faith and that we truly abide in Christ and He abides in us.
Lord Jesus says to obey the two greatest commands which is about love, Paul says love is the greatest fruit of the Spirit and those who walk in the Spirit will uphold the commands and therefore there is no condemnation coming to them, and John says if we walk in love we know Jesus abides in us unto eternal life.

"I don't mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me." (Philippians 3:12 NLT).

In other words, think of the word "perfection" as in terms of "crossing the finish line." However, it is yielding to Christ within you who is going to help you to be "perfect" or to "finish the race." So when I say believers are to be "perfect", it is likened unto me cheering them on to "cross the finish line."

I can understand how "if" statements can upset you. There are several of them in the Bible.

The use of the word "if" above lets us know it is a condtion for the believer. "IF" we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins. If we walk in darkness and claim to have fellowship we are a liar. Such a person who walks in darkness and says they have fellowship with God has essentially received the grace of God in vain (See 2 Corinthians 6:1).

When I say "Crossing the finish line" I am not necessarily saying that is the point where God takes them home. When I use the word "Crossing the finish line", I am using it in terms of aligning one's will with the will of God.
