I can understand how "if" statements can upset you. There are several of them in the Bible.
1 John 1:6 IF we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1 John 1:7 But IF we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:8 IF we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:9 IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:10 IF we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Hebrews 10:26 For IF we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
John 14:15 IF you love me, keep my commandments.
Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but IF any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
The use of the word "if" above lets us know it is a condtion for the believer. "IF" we sin willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins. If we walk in darkness and claim to have fellowship we are a liar. Such a person who walks in darkness and says they have fellowship with God has essentially received the grace of God in vain (See 2 Corinthians 6:1).
