I totally agree here sirk, which is why I told Peter, there is a balance between Word and Spirit.
Joshua - ofcourse there is a balance between Word and Spirit, the Spirit has to agree 100% with the Word.
Let me put this plainly. If God appeared to you and said something, that is equivalent to scripture for you. Now if it is personal and everytime you do anything he has to guide you, that makes you a child following orders. But God does not work like this or desire it. He wants us to learn through our hearts and inspiration, guided by the Holy Spirit to decide what the right thing is to do.
Now heavenly portals, and getting a new heart from them, is an idea put forward by a "prophet". Reminds me of a Harry Potter idea, and wand law. A little step sideways and you could take communion for the washing of your sins and a weekly clean slate.
The link with behaviour, righteousness and love is crucial to everything in the gospel. But in much of the preaching and ideas this is lost, completely.
So where do you stand, because it appears to me, you are not sure anymore.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:6-10
One thing I feel above anything else is people want spiritual reality, but the lives they are living are just empty.
This is not about a failure of the gospel but a failure at emotional needs and honesty.
Using the Holy Spirit and super praise times has not changed the fundamental failure to address the need for change.
It is easy to deny the work of God in your heart, at any stage, but we all pay a price when you do.
