Did I mention there are people groups in the world today, that do not have a written copy of the Bible or NT in their native language. I wonder how those missionaries reach those people groups?

I actually went on trip once with one such missionary and we were witness to an Elijah Mt. Carmel experience. This happened just a few years ago.

A young teenage native girl in a village came down with a fatal fever. SO the villeinage leaders came to our missionaries asked them if Jesus could do anything. Before that could be answered the area medicine man came up with his black majick bag. He was telling the village people we were no good, that God and Jesus could do nothing for her, only his payers and potions would work.

So not wanting to be rude, our missionary friends asked the medicine man if they could share a story with him, his assistants and all the village, the MM granted this as did the elders of the village.

The missionaries told them the story of Jarius daughter. Everyone one was amazed but the MM, he told the story of pharaohs magicians and how Moses failed. He left out the part of Moses rod turning into a snake and eating the other 2 snakes.

So the missionaries said, hey the girl is dying, we give you 2 hours to pray and do whatever you can to save her, under the condition when you are done,w e get to Pray to our God and do the same.

Exactly 2hours and 15 minutes later a young girl, who was near death, was walking around and eating after missionaries prayed for her.

The missionaries then told everyone including the MM and his assistants about eh Story of Elijah on Mt. Carmel...the whole village including the MM and his assistants received Jesus!

That MM is now a head of a church today in another village.

Romans 10.17 says:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Do not ever assume the world is your view of it! Many Christians do and people are goign to hell, because of it!

Hi, I have had of many tales told also, the church I go to has a lot of
missionary connections.

I also have a lot of African friends and you tend to find that in places
where people are desperate, where there are no cosy medical clinics,
vaccines, money to pay for bills etc. People rely on God and their faith
far more than in the west. In those circumstances where Jesus is the
first and only choice, miracles abound.

Reminds me of the psalm, where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord.

In the west we tend to think we are oh so sophisticated, maybe we have
become so sophisticated that we have lost the need to reach out to
God in the same way.

I tread in the BDF with some trepidation...I wanted to do a series of threads covering Gifts of the Holy spirit, or you may just feel they are gifts you were born with - either way they are gifts from God. I'd like to begin with the gift of "dreams" and more specifically interpretation of dreams.

Personally I do not dream - or if I do I don't remember them but I know many Christians who do dream often feel that their dreams are insights or warnings from God. I would be interested in opinions and experiences on this. Then there are the interpreters, is this mumbo jumbo? Personally I'm not sure dream interpreters are anything other than folks like you and me largely guessing or maybe guessing with the help of a book listing basic dreams and their meanings - maybe a secular book or worse some kind of "spiritual" book but not written by Christians. Do you feel that interpreters are gifted in this way too? Can dreams be trusted? Can interpreters and interpretations be trusted? Thoughts?
You should find This helpful...

A recurring topic here, and it makes me shrug. Dreams are pretty random, they're just a way for your brain to process info while your asleep. That doesn't rule out the possibility that God could communicate with us using dreams, but such dreams should always be tested with scripture. In principle scripture is enough as a source of revelation though, no need to put your trust too much in dreams.

okay maddie - at 85 I have had many dreams in fact hundreds like many others here no doubt and like many others I have remembered some and not others but in all those dreams like most other folk I cannot recall whether I dreamt in black and white or colour - so check it out for yourself - be surprised with more to come why we really dream and miss the real message and get all hung up and tangled up on tangents and side issues - wincam
ok...post 32

the op is not about the normal processes of the mind during rem sleep....and how our little noodles try to make sense out of events of the day, problems at hand or why the neighbor is spying on us

there is a marked difference...check out Joseph's dreams...they were inspired by the Spirit of God...I have had a few myself but of a personal nature

Here's one

Some years back my grandfather died and there were alot of family complications involved including $ which of course has been known to divide the best of folk

I was upset that my grandad died...not who was getting what

I was so upset, I would lie in bed at night and just start shaking in bursts...could not stop

Ultimately, I had a dream. In that dream, my grandad and myself were in his home and he was in front of me. He turned and smiled at me and said come...I want to show you something. I followed him downstairs to the garage where he kept his car...we walked around the car and I said 'this is your car...do you know who is driving it now?' (one of his daughters husband who did not get along with my grandad)

He stopped walking around the car...turned to me again and gave another big smile, put his hand on my shoulder and looked into my eyes and said 'It does not matter anymore'

The dream ended...and I utterly stopped being upset...I got it...he was a Christian and it did not matter anymore about the things on earth

That dream, was from God and given to me during sleep because it seemed so real it became reality...it was the truth

It was personal to me...it meant something to me...and changed my outlook in a positive way...and still contents me to this day with the thought that these things don't matter anymore!

what devious route has brought us here without anyone answering the question about black and white or colour or what dreams are really trying to tell us - perhaps it seems we don't really want to know because it means waking up whilst we prefer to sleep and dream - wincam

Maddie - why does this keep happening that that the question/s asked are not been directly confronted and answered but tangents and off shoots and side issues are being intertwined so to speak - wincam

Proverbs 22:29-NKJV
Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.

God has given everyone of His people unique talents and gifts. When we exercise those talents and abilities, through the law of use they will grow. I remember in Matthew 25:14-29 a story of a man who gave his servants money and expected them to invest it wisely and make a profit for him. In the same way, God expects a return on the talents and abilities he has given us. In addition, a person who has developed his or her talents and excels in them can expect doors to open for him or her in their life.

There is no 'gift of dreams'

Anymore then there is a gift of common sense

The Bible has plenty to say about dreams from cover to cover

Look up the word dreams in a concordance and take it from there

It would really behoove some (and please do not take this as an insult) to study for themself

What do YOU believe W?

I believe the Bible...I don't go about looking for signs or asking for visions or hearing an audible voice

But if I said I did, you could call me a liar and I might be; if I were being truthful, you would still not have any objection that scripture would validate, because those things are biblical

Closest thing I can think of is Joel 2 but that is prophecy and it is to Israel not to all the world. It is also for a specific time and place not everyday and all the time.

Not that I expect that to have any influence on those who will defend to the end their dreams.
