You sound a bit separate. Jesus went into the synagogue and taught. From the age of 13 he went to the temple and taught. I think he understood them very well, and their ideas, and where their hypocracy really was.

He was very complementary. Do as they teach, not as they do.

The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
Matt 23:2-4

So I think it is very important to know messages, and know why it fails. Are we overcomers, or do we fall at the first sign of an argument? Your biggest enemy knows your biggest weakness, so listen learn and deal with this. It works because it has impact.
I have no idea as to the point you are trying to make. Help me out here.

Get uh grip Utah! The Bible is is a bridge between folks.
I think you will find that Jesus called us all to be bridges between one another. ("There is no longer Greek nor Jew......")

'There is no longer Greek or Jew..........." It's Scripture.)

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Luke 12:15

How many have fallen for this gospel hook like and sinker?
Jesus critised wealth because it makes the wrong things important and divides people on issues that do not matter. It is often the reason for violence, jealousy, divorce and conflict, giving security to those who know nobody. A lonely man drives down a road in his ferrari thinking of all the people who wished they were him, not realising most are actually saying, what a jerk.

I truth, every single thing you, or I, or anyone else, believes the Bible really says is strictly a matter of interpretation.
And as long as people keep using lousy interpretation methods the problem will exist.

Small point. You suggested Jesus did not engage with the pharisees, they were just trying to find fault with his teaching.
I was suggesting understanding peoples ideas and positions is part of how we love and reach out to them.

You seemed to be saying not engaging was Jesus's way because they were the enemy. I am suggesting we need to actually take them so seriously we know their arguments, and have seen why we are different, and where the differences are.

There is a danger ofcourse, you could change in the process, but then who is the Lord we follow.

This was almost a good siphon....I'll fix it for you.

Hey willy. Could you explain what you don't understand about JIA's post?
I hope I read it wrong, but I thought I heard him saying we are supposed to get all up in people's faces, telling them how wrong they are.

A little question, how many people understand emotional intelligence?

One idea you could express this is with being happy with the skin you are in.
The problem is on both sides of the fence, faith can be a reason for running away from yourself or facing up to yourself.
The people who I have most problems with show all the signs of the running away option.

I think it is impossible to have a pure heart if you do not know what is actually in your heart to start with.
I have a little question, I asked you where you get there are two creaiton stories. Please answer my question.

I see no indication in scripture that Jesus was trying to "change" the Pharisees. They were simply just a readily available example for him to show what darkness looks like.... to the people that actually wanted to change and live for God.

Probably because I try to live it, as opposed to just quoting it.

Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words.

That's so lame. Just answering off the top of your head all the time doesn't really help people to see what the the truth is according to the Bible.

You know...those people who isolate themselves from the body of Christ and claim some spiritual superiority over everyone else. How do we lead them back to the body of Christ?
The ones i've met in real life were anti-church because they were socially awkward, had aspbergers, or had a back experience with church members and are basically atheists. Each type requires a different type of leading to a point, but i think the commonality with all of them is that we must love them in kindness and care for them/be there for them. Depression and anxiety as well as social reclusivity often have an odd negative feedback loop that causes the person to pull away from people as they desire social contact more. (My depression does that to me all the time)

in other words, love on them :).

Hey! I resemble that remark! I find biblical truth in lots of places. As an example like in this song.....

So much style without substance
So much stuff without style
It's hard to recognize the real thing
It comes along once in a while
Like a rare and precious metal beneath a ton of rock
It takes some time and trouble to separate from the stock
You sometimes have to listen to a lot of useless talk

Genesis 1 and genesis 2 can be construed as 2 separate creation stories. That is a thick issue though not related to the thread. Ive heard great explanations for it and ill post them if i find it.
