I really have to wonder what translation you are using. John 10:10 does NOT say "enjoy" life. Here is a reputable word for word translation, and the Greek which is what the New Testament was written in.

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10 ESV

"
ὁ κλέπτης οὐκ ἔρχεται εἰ μὴ ἵνα κλέψῃ καὶ θύσῃ καὶ ἀπολέσῃ· ἐγὼ ἦλθον ἵνα ζωὴν ἔχωσιν καὶ περισσὸν ἔχωσιν. John 10:10 Greek

Zoen exosin
ζωὴν ἔχωσιν say "have life." There is no word "enjoy" in this passage in the orginal language. This is a perfect example of adding to the Word of God which is what all WoF teachers do. They have a false gospel, because they add to the Bible, and twist it to their own devices.

"
10 For
“Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;" 1 Peter 3:10 ESV

Again, no word "enjoy" in this passage. And in the Greek:

"γὰρ θέλων ζωὴν ἀγαπᾶν καὶ ἰδεῖν ἡμέρας ἀγαθὰς παυσάτω τὴν γλῶσσαν ἀπὸ κακοῦ καὶ χείλη τοῦ μὴ λαλῆσαι δόλον," 1 Peter 3:10

Zoan agapan or ζωὴν ἀγαπᾶν. Agape is the word for "altruistic love for others." It is the way God loves us. It has nothing to do with us "enjoying" life like one would "enjoy Pepsi."

Please let me know which translation you are using. It is just filled with translational errors.

Perhaps you need to get a Bible that is a decent translation. That might be half the reason why your doctrine is so bad.
Wonder no more:

You are letting them take you for a ride.

In case you haven't noticed, they try to get the argument on general terms, but attack you personally at the same time.
Yes, very ungodly and self-serving.

MAKE THEM GO ONE ITEM AT A TIME.......SPECIFIC "Error" that they think is wrong.

Then take them to the word.
Most of them do not know the word, they are just programmed by the cessationist prism, and feed on the utube smears.
Right, they do not. Thank you.

Could be the amplified version.
She probably did it to show inference.

I do not think argueing against "enjoying life" will enhance anyone's walk with the Lord.

If you invert it ,it sounds like someone hoping to have a miserable life "and that more abundantly"

"The word says "the joy of the Lord is my strength"

Would "Joy" be evil also?????

I think people need to look at Neh. 8:10 in context. The second temple had just been built, and the Word of the Lord was read to them. The people WEPT when they heard the Word of the Lord!

"9 And Nehemiah, who was the governor, and Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law. 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” 11 So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Be quiet, for this day is holy; do not be grieved.” 12 And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because they had understood the words that were declared to them." Neh. 8:-12.

Because the people were weeping on a day holy to God, Ezra, Nehemiah and the Levites told the people to rejoice in God, and in the Word. That meant they ate and drink, BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTOOD THE WORD OF THE LORD!

That is the context! Not unbridled lust for things!

And nothing to do with saying we have a miserable life. We have a joyful life because we walk with God. We read his Word and it makes us joyful! That is the true meaning of Neh. 8:10

I am acquainted with the immense love of Jesus and the power of the cross and His precious blood shed for me---and for you.

I'm sorry that you do not follow the gospel, then. What do you think the pure gospel of Jesus Christ is??? It is none other than the Good News of Jesus Christ as God incarnate who has come to Earth to be the perfect sacrifice for our sin, His life's blood poured out, His life given in the divine exchange on the cross---giving His life in exchange for ours, our sin punished on His sinless body---so that we can become children of God.
In terms of spirituality, would you die for another? Would you demonstrate your love for a friend, a neighbour, an enemy by laying down your life? I hope, if the Lord called me to, I would show my love in such a way.

You use the term "I am acquainted with the immense love of Jesus" you talk of the gospel like a legal equation. It is so much more than that, but that is where our perspectives differ. Unfortunately we all live by our feelings, and most keep them in check so they have no clue what is going on inside, but they matter, really matter, they define our true selves.

I can see the distance Jesus is from you, and the key issues the Holy Spirit would have to talk to you about you push away.
You want to believe we are so different, but we are not. You want to tell me how little I know, and yet I know Jesus better than you. I am not self righteous, but your words speak to me that love is not your highest agenda item. After listening to Joyce I can begin to see why.

I wish I knew my sin like you do, to see it immediately, confess and be restored as you describe. I would point my experience to like King David, who schemed with Bathsheba, had a child, killed the husband and married her.
Sin is often a lot more involved and complex, than you nice ideas.

The problem with changing words from a sinner saved by grace to a saint in righteousness, is it creates the image of the destination and not the journey. WOF , NAR, latter rain do matter, but it appears you do not like talking about it.
You chose to take the position you do, so I know you feel you have a difference to me.

I think it is you prefer to be in the world more than true spirituality, and cling on to "Spirit" experiences above emotional reality, working love through your life, being honest about crises and hurts that stop us all from fullfilling the ministry christ has for us.

I do not mind you suggesting you represent the body of Christ and I do not, because all I need to know is Jesus loves me and I love him back, in obedience to His word and with the love he planted in me. It really does take a long time to learn peoples stories and how they express themselves, and each journey is different. I wish you well, and find the Lords blessing in your life, no matter where you might be at the moment.

The Word ἔχω or "echo" the verb "to have" does not appear at all in 1 Peter 3:10

In John 10:10 it appears as the verb
ἔχωσιν or echosin, and is the present, subjunctive Active case. It means "to have."
I do not know which internet site you copied and pasted your definition from, but it certainly shows you total lack of understanding of Greek and Greek tools. Just because something appears as a possible definition of a word, does not mean it applies to this passage.

Danker and Bauer, BDAG, which is the most reputable Lexicon on the market, the most reliable and the oldest, lists "to have" in various forms, including: have, own, have as, to have an opinion, to have on, wear, to experience something, (have) for all its alternate forms.

I look at that list, and I have to wonder what ignoramus put it together.

No word "enjoy" anywhere in my Lexicon. Do you even have a Lexicon? Have you ever studied Greek? I know you haven't, or you wouldn't put forward this kind of shoddy excuse for scholarship!

espite what the apologists for these cult deceivers do to try and rehabilitate them, by belaboring and trying to make the entire issue a mere dispute over some single statement: this is a smokescreen. There are core, multiple deceptions at the heart of WoF, no sense even arguing for pages over how big the tip of the iceberg is. The entire religion is a fraud.

Here's a good writeup, from a reputable Christian website many refer to. Would add that it's clear many here don't want the teachings exposed, from the very mouths of those they champion. They remind me of some defense attorney, claiming the criminal didn't really confess what he clearly did on that tape recording. They would surely make better shysters than Christians, at this rate, or work some calling where truth exists only on the margins.

Word Faith movement Question: "Is the Word of Faith movement biblical?"

Answer: Word of Faith teaching is decidedly unbiblical. It is not a denomination and does not have a formal organization or hierarchy. Instead, it is a movement that is heavily influenced by a number of high-profile pastors and teachers such as Kenneth Hagin, Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Paul and Jan Crouch, and Fred Price.

The Word of Faith movement grew out of the Pentecostal movement in the late 20th century. Its founder was E. W. Kenyon, who studied the metaphysical New Thought teachings of Phineas Quimby. Mind science (where "name it and claim it" originated) was combined with Pentecostalism, resulting in a peculiar mix of orthodox Christianity and mysticism. Kenneth Hagin, in turn, studied under E. W. Kenyon and made the Word of Faith movement what it is today. Although individual teachings range from completely heretical to completely ridiculous, what follows is the basic theology most Word of Faith teachers align themselves with.

At the heart of the Word of Faith movement is the belief in the "force of faith." It is believed words can be used to manipulate the faith-force, and thus actually create what they believe Scripture promises (health and wealth). Laws supposedly governing the faith-force are said to operate independently of God's sovereign will and that God Himself is subject to these laws. This is nothing short of idolatry, turning our faith—and by extension ourselves—into god.

From here, its theology just strays further and further from Scripture: it claims that God created human beings in His literal, physical image as little gods. Before the fall, humans had the potential to call things into existence by using the faith-force. After the fall, humans took on Satan's nature and lost the ability to call things into existence. In order to correct this situation, Jesus Christ gave up His divinity and became a man, died spiritually, took Satan's nature upon Himself, went to hell, was born again, and rose from the dead with God's nature. After this, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to replicate the Incarnation in believers so they could become little gods as God had originally intended.

Following the natural progression of these teachings, as little gods we again have the ability to manipulate the faith-force and become prosperous in all areas of life. Illness, sin, and failure are the result of a lack of faith, and are remedied by confession—claiming God's promises for oneself into existence. Simply put, the Word of Faith movement exalts man to god-status and reduces God to man-status. Needless to say, this is a false representation of what Christianity is all about. Obviously, Word of Faith teaching does not take into account what is found in Scripture. Personal revelation, not Scripture, is highly relied upon in order to come up with such absurd beliefs, which is just one more proof of its heretical nature.

Countering Word of Faith teaching is a simple matter of reading the Bible. God alone is the Sovereign Creator of the Universe (Genesis 1:3; 1 Timothy 6:15) and does not need faith—He is the object of faith (Mark 11:22; Hebrews 11:3). God is spirit and does not have a physical body (John 4:24). Man was created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26, 27; 9:6), but this does not make him a little god or divine. Only God has a divine nature (Galatians 4:8; Isaiah 1:6-11, 43:10, 44:6; Ezekiel 28:2; Psalm 8:6-8). Christ is Eternal, the Only Begotten Son, and the only incarnation of God (John 1:1, 2, 14, 15, 18; 3:16; 1 John 4:1). In Him dwelt the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9). By becoming a man, Jesus gave up the glory of heaven but not His divinity (Philippians 2:6-7), though He did choose to withhold His power while walking the earth as man.

The Word of Faith movement is deceiving countless people, causing them to grasp after a way of life and faith that is not biblical. At its core is the same lie Satan has been telling since the Garden: “You shall be as God” (Genesis 3:5). Sadly, those who buy into the Word of Faith movement are still listening to him. Our hope is in the Lord, not in our own words, not even in our own faith (Psalm 33:20-22). Our faith comes from God in the first place (Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 12:2) and is not something we create for ourselves. So, be wary of the Word of Faith movement and any church that aligns itself with Word of Faith teachings.

Does JM claim to be a prophet of God? I allow for all flesh to not always be perfect, otherwise I would be condemned.

Again, JM has helped me in her preaching.

I do not approve of what many preachers have preached from pulpits in my presence, but to condemn them for their faults rather than to forgive them is not in my understanding of grace and mercy in Jesus Christ.

This does not mean licensee is permitted within the parameters of my understanding, but knowing no flesh, aside from our Lord Jesus Christ, is or can be perfect, I am able to hear imperfect preachers in the sight of God without feeling the need or authority to condemn.

I have felt the Presence of the Holy Spirit in her preaching on occasion, and when I have, the spirit within me witnessed to this event with joy.

Do not judge others in this age, for this is beginning to reign without the King present.

God bless all who are in Jesus Christ, and my those who are not yet, may He shine His Light upon, amen.

Perhaps you are ok believing the words of every false teacher that comes around but i myself will follow The Word. In other words, i will do as the Bible has told me to and judge whether the teachings are Biblical are not. As seen in this thread, Joyce Meyer is not a biblical preacher even if you "kind of like her preaching."

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we[a] have worked for, but may win a full reward. 9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting,11 for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

Do not judge bu appearances, but judge with Right judgement.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.

No, she doesn't...although anointed teachers often do speak prophetically from the word of truth that brings personal revelation or rhema to people.

Not one Christian has everything down perfectly, and those who are anointed to teach still make mistakes. We are all learning and growing, are we not? Or are you at the pinnacle of your faith walk right now? We offer scads of mercy, just as God does.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Cults 101: Checklist of Cult Characteristics

checklist of a cult Joyce Meyer

‪☑️ The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
‪☑️ Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
‪☑️ Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
‪☑️ The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
‪☑️ The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
‪☑️ The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
‪☑️ The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
‪☑️ The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
‪ The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
‪☑️ Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
‪☑️ The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
‪☑️ The group is preoccupied with making money.
‪☑️ Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
‪☑️ Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
‪ The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

Perhaps you are confusing posting knowledge from having read the Word in prayer and meditation and understanding some of t, then passing it on as understood with knowing Bible passages rote.

There is a time when people never quoted chapter and verse by numbers, for there were no numbers. I accept others who do this still, for it is implicit they are speaking or postsing with understanding.

God bles all who pass on understanding.

I am in no way at the pinnacle if my walk. I just wonder how you can teach doctrines of faith, supposedly Holy Spirit inspired, and then one day decide it was wrong? I mean if you truly believed what you were teaching came from the Holy Spirit, and you look into that camera and teach it as from the Holy Spirit, how do you decide its not from the Holy Spirit anymore?

Just an aside on the OP. To say the mercy we show others will be shown to us is wrong because it isnot exaactly written in the Word is not understanding with the judgment we mete out we will be judged.

Two approaches teaching the same lesson. Please, all, allow for others to post with understanding, and do the same. It is the Way in Christ. God bless all in Jesus Christ.........

In other words, your feelings after having read the Bible because what you posted was just feelings.

Still feelings versus scripture.

For some, a falsehood repeated enough becomes his truth. My post is with understaqnding. The only feelings I have from reading the Word is the Love that is Jesus. Perhaps this too will be construed as feelings.

You believe it is a feeling to understand if we judge others so shall we be judged? Do you believe it is a feeling that with the mercy we give shall we receive? Sorry my friend , but this is understanding from the Word, and the Word is Jesus Chrisst when accompanied by teh Holy Spsirit.

May God blessyou with His personal touch in understanding.
