Its all about our walk with Jesus Christ that counts. Jesus will be with us in sickness, in health, in poorness, or in being rich.

Too many people look to the external and not the internal.

There are many people who seem to be a Christian, but instead are not True Christians.

As Jesus healed everyone who came to Him in faith, yet was hindered by those of His own home town who didn't have faith, what do you mean? Are you wanting to change the topic to aliens or gods?

There is nothing dangerous in providing all scriptures that pertain to healing and God's great provision of it for His own. The real danger is in unbelief.

Hebrews 3:12
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

ok lets take this 1, 'As Jesus healed everyone who came to Him in faith, yet was hindered by those of His own home town who didn't have faith, so he was hindered what does that mean, are you saying jesus couldn't heal them without faith, so when we say nothing is impossible for god are you saying thats not actually true. lets take the man by the well who couldn't get to the waters when they stired, he was looking for help to the water wasn't faith in jesus, or the man begging in acts when the disciples say money i do not have in the name of jesus get up and walk, how about jesus friend lazerus who he raised from the death his sisters thought he would be raised at the final resurection how much faith did he have he was dead..

or salvation?

God does an awful lot for us while we're still dead and His enemies with no faith at all. :)

Luke 1:37
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Nothing is impossible with God, and since He has given man a sovereign will, He will not violate or overrule it. Therefore according to God's own character, there are some things He will not do. So, it follows exactly where the bible says that Jesus could do no mighty works in His own home town BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF. It is our unbelief that hinders God.

Matthew 13:57-58
And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.” [SUP]58 [/SUP]And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.

my question to you was what does that mean,' And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.' i know the verse, what does this verse mean to you???, does it mean jesus could not physically heal them if he wanted to. does it mean no one bothered coming for healing.

It means that Jesus could not do any miraculous works in His home town because of unbelief...just as the word says. Just as unbelief hinders salvation in the unbeliever, so it hinders what God wants so dearly to give us. People don't come for healing if they don't believe in Jesus, or that He can give it to them.

Jesus is more than willing to heal those who believe for it, as in the woman with the hemorrhage. She believed Jesus could heal her just by her touching the tasseled hem of His tallit. She didn't even have to ask Him.

so the unhealed, blind or disabled and mentally ill christians arent healed because they lack the faith to be healed you saying, so ultimately its their own fault if they aren't healed , just getting this clear, and the ones you say faith healed them, why didn't they get healed before encountering jesus, surely if the only need is faith then many should have been healed before even meeting jesus, you dont brake through a roof if you aint got faith

Not necessarily. Many fine believers have faith in God for healing, and they patiently hold fast for it, even though it has yet to manifest. They do not say, "I had faith, but it didn't happen." which negates faith. People who hold fast to their faith persist and endure and do not let their words betray their faith. They simply need to say, "I have yet to realize my healing."

When Jesus was here in the flesh, walking among us, I am sure many instances of healing without Him actually touching them or laying eyes on them did occur, for as the word says, many of Jesus' deeds were not recorded, for there would not be enough books to record them all. The reality for us today is that we only need faith and trust in the written word, and He will touch us. He died for our diseases and infirmities. It is He who gives us strength and life, abundantly, with liberality.

Hey FancyNancy., I do appreciate the time you took to answer these difficult and important questions put to you. I am just beginning to learn about healing and what Jesus has done for us as new covenant believers. Knowing what the Word says about Jesus and His ministry here when He was on earth and now the ministry of the Holy Spirit He left here with and for us to comfort and guide and direct as we read His Word and find out what these great and precious promises are.

I did not know that there are many and great and precious promises for the believer while here on earth for us to apply to fight the good fight of faith. It's about believing. Even though I have been saved since 1982. I have just begun this journey of taking God at His Word and applying the promises to my life.

Salvation means so much more than being saved from hell. Jesus not only purchased us from darkness, He justified us before God, sanctified us , redeemed us., brought us near to God, purged our conscience., provided remission and forgiveness of sins, gives us boldness to enter into the holiest (God's presence) cleanses us from all sin and overcome the devil on our behalf.

I did not know that these promises were meant to be applied to our life here on earth. I always assumed these were only spiritual issues and they did not overshadow into the physical of my life. But the more I read of the atonement, I am renewed in the many promises of His watch care as a Good Shepherd who takes care and tends the sheep.

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want. Too many times I was taught that the Lord is my Shepherd He breaketh my legs and causes sickness and pain. I had this expectation of God that He will hurt me to teach me. But am learning He does not make something that is bad and says it's good. He does not call evil good and good evil. He uses circumstances but does not cause bad circumstances.

I'm just beginning to learn these things and how the Lord is not offering promises just to have me come to take and then rip it from me to teach some odd lesson. Job was not oppressed by God, he was oppressed the the devil. Job attributed many things to God that were not from God.

He said the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord. that sounds really spiritual but God did not take things away, God gave and gave and gave. The devil is the author of confusion and sickness and death. Job said something that many Christians use at funerals but it was not what God says. He is the Giver not the taker.

Again, I'm just learning these things and I appreciate your views here on the forums Nancy.
I know it takes lots of time to be on here and it gets frustrating and it is also uplifting to be with other believers and sharing the truths of God together.

Thank you, ladylynn...I do very much appreciate you here. Yours is a fresh breeze so needed in this place these last couple of days! Whew!!!

It is crystal clear that the Lord has taken hold of you as you have laid serious hold on Him, His word and His promises there for you, personally! You have grown to a tall stature among women of God...in such a short time since only 1982! God is AWESOME!

Jesus had a ministry of healing no doubt, but the commission He handed to His disciples did not include healing. Luke24:47 says "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among the nations beginning at Jerusalem" Matthew28:19-20 says "Go ye and teach all the nations baptising them in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you". John says "Feed my lambs, feed my sheep". Mark does mention healing but these final verses are so disputed that I prefer not to use them in the search for truth especially as they are not backed up by the other gospels.

It is only in the earlier parts of Acts and James which was the earliest letter, do we hear more about healing, after which the Scriptures say nothing but to mention that Paul himself had health problems. He said in 2Cor12:10 that he took pleasure in 'infirmities', after describing his thorn in the flesh whatever it may have been. In Galatians he mentions his eye problems "Ye see how large a letter I have written unto ye with my own hand" Gal6:11.

In Eph3:11, Paul says that "He gave some apostles some prophets some evangelists some pastors and some teachers" There is no mention of a healing ministry. It is strange that it is only in the early days of the church, and the time when Jesus was here that healing was mentioned frequently. But not so strange if we understand the reason for the healing.

The people who were first hearing the gospel were Jews who knew the Scriptures very well, and knew what they had to say about health and sickness. They believed that not only death but all disease was the consequence of sin. "There is neither death without sin nor any chastisement without iniquity" (Shabbath, c.5. fol 55. 1.) Taken from Jerome H. Smith, editor, the new treasury of Scripture knowledge, electronic edition of the revised edition of the treasury of Scripture knowledge Logos Library System (Nashville Thomas Nelson) 1997 c1992 by Jerome H Smith.

In the Old Testament, sickness was the result of sin and was brought about by God in the form of pestilence and plague, wounding by God with the purpose that His people would repent. "Come and let us return unto the Lord, for He hath torn us and He will heal us" Hos6:1 God's promises were "I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds" Jer30:17 the healing was always in connection with cleansing and His people turning away from their sin. Leprosy is seen in a symbolic sense of sin as the real disease causes a gradual death of the nerve endings so that injuries occur to the extremities, whilst the person is unaware of the injuries. Sin is rather like this in that the heart can become slowly hardened in the case of backsliding but we are unaware of the process and the damage.

False prophets were condemned because they dealt only with the symptoms and not with the deep spiritual hurts of the people “They have healed also the hurt of the daughter
Of my people, slightly saying Peace peace when there is no peace” Jer6:4, 8:11.
(Nelson’s Digital Library) In the metaphorical use, God is said to protect His people as a bird protects her young with her wings (Deut32:11) The psalmist expressed God’s care and protection as a ‘shadow’ of the ‘wings’ (Ps17:8, cf36:7, 57:1, 61:4, 63:7, 91:4) In keeping with this usage, Malachi looked forward to a new age when “The Sun of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings and ye shall go forth and grow up as calves of the stall” 4:2 (Nelsons’ Digital Library) We see here the purpose of the healing is that they may mature, giving the meaning a spiritual not a physical aspect.

Blindness was often understood to be a punishment for evil doing. We find an example of this at Sodom (Gen19:11) in the Syrian army (2Kings6:18) and in the curse of Elymas at Pathos (Acts13:6-11) Any person who had a disease was reputed unclean and was forbidden to enter into the camp, where others dwelt. The verses referring to God ‘tearing them’ are Job10:16, 17, 18:4, Ps50:22, La3:10, 11, Ho5:14.

If we look at Isaiah53:5:-

“But He was wounded for our transgressions” and compare Rom4:25-“Who was delivered for our offences and was raised for our justification and 2Cor15:3-“Christ died for our sins” and 1Pet3:18-“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust that He might bring us to God”

“he was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes ye are healed” This is made clear in 1Pet2:24-“who his own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree that we being DEAD TO SIN SHOULD LIVE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS by who’s stripes you are healed”

It does not say here that in taking our sins upon Himself we are forgiven and that is it but that our sin is taken away IF we are dead to sin, that is if we live without sin, and live unto righteousness THEN we are healed by His stripes. The healing is to do with our cleansing and is in full. The healing is of our souls because it is when the soul is healed that man can walk without sin and receive the benefit of Christ’s death, the healing of the thing that sent Him to the cross. He was wounded for our transgressions not our physical ailments. To put a physical healing into these verses is to add something that is foreign to the sense of cleansing.

In Ps103:23 we read “Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all thine INIQUITIES, who healeth all thy diseases (Ex15:26-“And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight and wilt give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee. I am the Lord thy God that healeth thee.” Jer17:14-“Heal me O lord and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved”) who redeemeth thy life from destruction (Ps34:22-“The Lord redeemeth the soul of His servants Ps5:12- “For the Lord wilt bless the righteous with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield)

The Jews knew that the one who would come would heal the cause of their disease and make them clean from sin. He went around healing as a sign that this person had come, and this continued during the early years of the church. But the healing was always connected with righteousness. In James5:5-16 it says “The prayer of faith shall SAVE the sick and if he has committed sins they shall be forgiven. Confess your sins and pray for one another that you may be healed.” The verse is talking about the healing of the soul nothing is said of bodily healing. It says further in verse 20 “Let him know that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his ways shall save a soul from death (spiritual) and shall hide a multitude of sins”

And in Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bore our sins in His body on the tree that we being DEAD TO SIN should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes ye were healed” again it is this healing to enable man to live a righteous life without sin that the early church understood healing.

After the early books there is very little mention of healing, the power that was released as a sign to authenticate the ministry of Jesus had disappeared until the disciples themselves suffered sickness. Of course God does sometimes heal physically, but the time had ceased when it was common.

It is only when we understand the fullness of the healing that he gives and can only give when it concerns the soul which alone fulfils the meaning of cleansing and righteousness that we can see that the cure of one or two conditions is not the subject discussed throughout the Old Testament and in the early years of the church.

Jesus has given all His disciples---that means us---His authority to do the works of Christ in the world, and THAT includes HEALING. It's is just an outright lie to omit healing, seeing as God wants us well, and Jesus bore our sins and sicknesses on the cross.

It's one thing to lack faith, but to actually argue for it is horrible!

"The commission He handed to his disciples did not include healing" -Hepzibeh

This is why I made this thread, this is not just about folks who reject what they call a health and wealth gospel, this is about a complete perversion of the truth, to the point that all truth in scripture is made to have little or no meaning.

Ac 4:29 "Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,
30 "by stretching out Your hand to heal,
and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."

Mitspa

You are making the assumption that the healing requested was physical, but God's response to the request was to baptise in the Spiritwhich is the healing spoken of in the OT - the cleansing by the Spirit ie holiness.

No Im reading and believing the clear and evident Word of God...no assumption needed other than the fact that God means what He says in evident words...you seem to be making the assumption that God don't mean what He says?

is this a physical healing? or are you assuming God is not being honest?

Ac 3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them--walking, leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly amazed.

I do not deny that physical healing was taking place, in those times. But that does not mean that it is meant for today. God does heal yes I do not deny it, but as I said previously, it was a special time where evidence was being given to the Jews that the healer of their souls had come. It is obviously not the same today as many who have faith that God will heal them, do not get healed.

I will give myself as an example - I have been sick since mercury poisoning nearly killed me at 6 months of age. I have been a believer for 43 years and absolutely believe that God can heal me instantly but he has not. Instead he has granted me an intimacy with him that is reserved for a few.
