Apostasy means those who have taking the gospel message of Christ and turned it into a license to sin.
They allow people to do things in the faith that the bible clearly says we are not to do, and they also add things to have to do that the bible does not say we have to do. Such as forbidding to marry, eating certain foods, having to obey written ordinances of the OT Mosaic laws that do not apply.

Apostasy is not about unbelievers who have never come to or know of the faith in Jesus, it is about those who corrupt the true gospel message into allowing lewdness.
Kenneth, is that you? :)

you needn't answer... i only sincerely hope it is.

Here's one, if you can handle it!

=================================================

jfyi,

about a week ago I was latched on to by a 'deer tic', the ones that can cause 'lymes disease'.

here is my cure from God......

first off, I have a healthy immune system, due to healthy practices and habits, -
even though I have to take very powerful meds on a cyclical basis to be able to sleep and eat,
I have been led by our Father to 'detox' from the meds on a regular basis, (I can only do this because
He has shown me that I truly am stronger that I thought I was)......
so,
He has revealed to me that the 'pharmakia' has no 'power' over me!
if I am in obedience to His instructions.

I can use it, for multiple health problems, but I may never 'mis-use', after what He has taught me.
He has taught me how to be in control, and not THEM!

from the tic bite, I never got sick, but it did take a few days to expel the infection, with the main
ingredients being 'herbs' - goldenseal-myrrh-milk thistle and a must, echinacia - and a spray bottle of 'colloidal silver'.

The issue of "what is truth" and "what is heresy" actually do go hand in hand.
If we are going to make judgements over what is and isn't heresy, we need a standard.
God gave us one. Thorough study led by the Holy Spirit will reveal truth to the one who seeks it. Heresy is not defined by a majority vote. It is determined by the word of God, revealed by His power.

You are right here that heresy is not based on majority vote, but is based and determined on the Word of God.

The thing is though is that over education in a man-made teaching system can get one to make His word into something it is not. The bible warns of such things and tells us to rely on God to give us the knowledge by the Holy Spirit, and to not put anything above or before that. Education is good but over education can take what is simple by the Holy Spirit and turn it into a complicated understanding.

1 John 2:27
But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teachth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

The word apostasy comes from apo-hystamie and ALL LOST people stand off from the truth!
"Apostasia" means to forsake, fall away, desert or make a DEFECTION FROM (the truth). One cannot defect from something that one has not embraced. The meaning is derived from the action of divorcement, and the opposite reflects loyalty or faithfulness.

Some of you may have seen a post I put up addressing "atwhatcost's" question about what to do when confronted with deliberately of misguidedly posted false teachings. If you haven't seen it, it can be found here.

There continue to be a number of these false teachings posted lately by those who either know they are false and make the deliberate decision to promote their heresies, or they are tares who do not know they are tares, i.e., weeds instead of the solid grain of the Gospel. As I noted in that original post, I will not engage those fools again. They wish to remain fools, so let them.

The more false teachers and false doctrines are promoted here, the bigger my ignore list grows. I will not tolerate words preaching a different Christ, or the promotion of a false teacher to espouses a different Christ, than the Bible teaches.

So keep please, heretics, keep it up. It makes it easier for me to identify you and never have to tolerate the darkening of my screen again by your garbage.

I would urge others to do the same. When we determine not to tolerate lies, and choose to engage in true fellowshp with true believers, we will actually glorify God.
I will not deny that many trolls and many people who are very un Christ like swarm the bible discussion forum, however I don't put them on ignore because what if God is wanting to use me to reach them? It only takes one love filled heart felt post to change a heart it only takes a spark to make the fire burn are we not willing to go that far for the sake of another?

Who taught Timothy, Titus, Luke? For that matter, who taught Paul? The correct answer is, the Holy Spirit has used those men blessed with the gift of teaching and pastoring to teach them, is that not true?

If 1 John 2:27 forbids learning from men, then did the second generation of believers go against biblical teaching? And if I swear and aver to you that the Holy Spirit has in fact led me and guided me to my conclusions, Ken, through the mentorship of good, godly teachers, in addition to my satisfying myself that what I was hearing was the truth because I could also see it for myself, how do we resolve the fact that He has "given us different revelation"? We know, in fact, He has not. So one of us must be wrong.

As neither of us will be convinced it is himself, what do we then do? Is there fellowship for us, you who believe salvation can be lost and I believing our security in Christ is eternal? Or do we put each other on ignore and pretend the other does not exist? You are not one of these false teachers to whom I refer, Ken. I believe you are wrong, yes, but by the same token your effort is sincere and your demeanor is gentle. So what do we do?

Our problem, Blain, is that we are human, and we expect our reason and reasonableness to "get through" to them. When we don't see agreement with our very logical presentation, we grow frustrated, we grow angry, we blow up all over them.

We don't wait for the Holy Spirit to work, and quite frankly, we may not be around when He does work. And some simply will not see truth. So as I said to Ken, what do we do?

You're about the right age now to say this to you. (No, that's not the beginning of a put down. lol) When I was young, I studied nothing but the word of God. When I reached the young side of middle age, (roughly your ageish), I realized I'm not very knowledgeable about the times and customs of the Bible, so I needed help studying it. Which then brought me to the obvious next question. "How do I know if these guys know anymore than I know?"

That started something different and something that takes a long time to enjoy. I got into the history of the Bible and the church. There are answers to "how do we know what we know?" You're about the right age to have the patience and fun to go for it and find out. Much easier to get stuff when you know who did what when where and why. I've seen the majesty and the magnificence of God's will passing on to a lot of smart Christian guys through the ages.

I'm on the older side of middle age now and I absolute know I don't have time to learn it all. The destination is God, not learning. The path is filled with as much learning as we can handle though.

There are NO divisions among Christians.
Many would disagree with that, one would be ignorant to say that Christianity is not divided on the Biblical text/doctrine and what its true meaning really is.

Notice that though they were only taught by those other men if the Holy Spirit, or the Lord Himself guided them to those others. They did not go to them out of their own regard, as is the same standard that is given to us. We are to go by the Holy Spirit's guidance first and foremost, and if the Holy Spirit then guides us to those other people and writings to go by for understanding then that is going by God's will.

I never said 1 John 2:27 forbids learning from men, but what it does do is shows that all truth comes by the Holy Spirit if you are sent to another individual. For even when the original 11 Apostles + Mathias (12th) instructed the likes of Paul, Mark, Luke, Timothy, Barnabas, and others it was the Holy Spirit doing the teaching through them to the others.

Notice now how I said instructed and not taught, as Jesus made it clear none of us are to consider ourselves another's spiritual teacher. For we have one teacher and that is God Himself who's Holy Spirit does the teaching through us, and we just give those instructions by the Spirit to others.

There can still be friendly respectful debating between our sides as the bible states we are to act in the faith, as it is only when the demeaning, belittling, and sarcastic attitudes come out that I do not respect nor does the Spirit of God respect that treatment of others. For we are called to love and be kind to all, not to just those who agree with us !!!

I believe in the doctrine I teach because I have found over 25 scriptures in the NT that sides with it, and I was lead to those scriptures by the Holy Spirit. I know He can not lie or lead a person into false teachings, so what He has shown me can not be a lie. For He has guided my steps to preach and teach in the same manner as Apostle Paul did, as Paul gave most of his warnings to believers.

I wanted to do prophecy study first, but the Holy Spirit said I needed to learn the teachings and warnings of Paul first as that is more important in the faith then knowledge of prophecy is. After 5 years of learning and understanding Paul I was then guided by the Spirit to go to what I originally wanted to learn and that is prophecy.

The Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to a lot of God's truth in the Word, and some of it surprises me how people can so easily miss them as the scripture is clear in what they say. Such as Revelation 2:13 and 13:2 !!!
