In church today as everyone was singing praise I looked around at all the many ppl and I thought to myself each person here has a different belief about something has a different view has a different interpretation of the bible but instead of them bickering attacking each other going into pretty dumb debates they are all acting as one praising God enjoying each others presence and listening to a preacher in order to grow strong in God, then I thought of the bdf in cc and I was confused as to why they differ so much, if we were all in person I doubt we would act like we do here then wondered if each of these ppl were to go online and didn't know each other went into debate of God and the bible and Christianity would all these ppl who are acting as one in church become what we see here?

That may be why Jesus said for us to become a physical "family', and didn't tell us to start forums to argue doctrine.

I used to teach Adult Sunday School and boy the folks there would bang heads just like here on CC, and yet love truly did rule the day, every day. One time in a sermon I stepped out of the pulpit and walked down the aisle of the pews, said a joke about the fighting, then ran back to the "safety" of the pulpit.

Because there is "safety" in anonymity. Nobody REALLY knows anyone else on these fora, so without the need of proper social skills, one can be a rude as one wishes.

Truth. Plus I think people have lost the concept of a respectful yet honest debate or argument that doesn't turn in to name calling or honest strife.

What we do here is fellowship. We discuss doctrine and discern the truth. may not be pretty at times, but this is fellowship.Fellowship is believers discussing doctrine and studying it out to discern the truth.

Fellowship is not going to potlucks or church and listening to other peoples problems and adversities and praying for them after their whining is done.

What most of us get at church, is someone saying," I don't mean to gossip but....." or "I have a problem a work or home and .........." or "did you hear about so and so?"or " please pray for my.......(Which usually is gossip!)

True Christian fellowship is discussing the doctrines that the Lord has in His word. It is not about our work week, problems or other peoples problems.

And Crossnote made a funny about "what are you doing looking around." And there is a lot of truth in that. It is a personal relationship and what or how others worship is none of our business.

True Christian fellowship is not about being "nice" to the person who believes is loss of salvation,Jesus is not God and many others.........It is about discussing those doctrines and discerning for ourselves what is true. And It may get heated!

Paul and Peter were heated(Really it was more than just heated) at times.

Hey Blain. I know what you are saying, and bless you for playing peacemaker in the bdf's. Like Utah said, you will find some of that in some congregations. But church-wise, people of different takes can find a church of their taking and so there is less of a mix to be debated. Here in the forums (a strangely apt title) it's an equal (roughly) footing among differing sides ... and so there is more opportunity for conflict here than in your local church.

Too, people are different when they are in a group or by themselves. In a group like church, one tends more to go along to get along. In a group like CC, people hunched over a computer still feel by themselves, and so are more likely to rock the boast - oops I meant boat. But that typo was strangely telling.

Then, there are the worst of all. Those who are here to defend their hills like a marine. It's true that truth is only available to those who are willing to question what they think they know. We should be here to sharpen our swords together, not swing them at each other. Let's agree to learn from each other, instead of insisting we know it all. It's the sword that hits rocks that loses it's edge.

You know how satan likes to confuse and occupy the troops. Let's confuse and occupy him by refusing to address each other in anything but love.

Fellowship is debating to you? and discussing doctrine? Then I guess when the apostles made the first church and everyone was of one mind and heart they were not in fellowship, when Jesus and the disciples sat at the last supper they were not in fellowship when Jesus taught on the mount they were not in fellowship. And also what you say here-

Hmmm.....maybe because people in a church family can choose to be there or not? They can choose who they fellowship with, and can actually fellowship like share a meal or something and talk? On the forum it's just straight info and text, not the ability to just enjoy someone's company and talk about godly and life stuff.

Honestly Willie. We don't Accidentally walk into a doctrinal Church. If we want the truth and search it out, God will provide it. If we want our ears tickled and the dog and pony show that is in most churches now. God respects our wishes.

Anyone who says they don't is lying to themselves
So do you think there is possibly a point or 2 in my first post that could be true? Even your response to my first post had a couple of my points "hidden" in it.

Then I guess when the apostles made the first church and everyone was of one mind and heart they were not in fellowship, when Jesus and the disciples sat at the last supper they were not in fellowship when Jesus taught on the mount they were not in fellowship.

How do we become one mind without discussing the doctrine and coming to a conclusion of the doctrine?

What was the last supper? Was it Peter and John taking about their problems(they tried) or was it Jesus Christ giving doctrine to His Disciples and His disciples AGREEING with His doctrines.

Fellowship is about giving information(Doctrine in our soul) to others to help them solve problems. Fellowship is to build up others with doctrine BEFORE the problem. So they have the tools to solve the problem.

Only the holy spirit can do this it is a work of God's love and power not the debating of doctrine

Is that how you see it? What Jesus taught wasn't doctrine what he taught were teaching from the fathers heart a doctrine would require that there is a flaw in that needs to be discussed to be understood. to us perhaps it's doctrine because we don't fully understand it and thus need to debate and discuss it but to God it's perfect it is absolute it is him and thus is not a doctrine our eyes just perceive it to be one

Staggering! My jaw dropped in admiration of the revelation of that statement.
