You would like it if I stopped preaching those verses that convict people of their wrong belief and of their wrong actions. But I will never stop preaching the truth of God’s Word just because people do not like it.
It's not a matter of them not liking it. It's a matter of them not listening. What did Paul say about participating in endless debates?

Of course, that applies to the other side as well. You're not 100% right, but you're not listening either.

I just hate seeing brothers and sisters on both sides arguing like a bunch of spoiled kids instead of trying to find the common ground.

Without proper context, all someone has is "con" Not knowing you are safe and secure in your salvation will give the devil inroads into your life. Always being afraid and fearful of your relationship with anyone is not healthy. Unconditional love must be taught. We learn that from Jesus example. We need to know as human beings that God is taking care of us and is not counting our sins against us.
As mentioned before, this does not cause a license to sin but a love relationship that causes devotion. Which one of us who has ever been in love thought "oh no!!! I have to be with him/her again!!! RATS!! " If you have then you were not in love...hardly.

[TD="colspan: 3, align: left"]Have you ever felt condemned because of the bad thoughts you have had? You could be in the middle of a prayer meeting when suddenly a dirty thought enters your mind. Actually, it is the devil who puts such thoughts in your mind. Then, he steps back, looks at you and knocks you on your head, saying, “How can you call yourself a Christian and still think such thoughts?”

I used to be in bondage over the bad thoughts I had because I felt that I had to confess every one of them and seek God’s forgiveness. But that is not what God’s Word exhorts us to do. You see, God wants us to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. Now, whose obedience are we to focus on? Christ’s obedience and not our own obedience!

But what is “the obedience of Christ”? It is His obedience at the cross, where “by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous”. (Romans 5:19) Jesus shed His blood for us at the cross. This means that when our thoughts condemn us, we are to focus our thoughts on Jesus’ obedience at the cross.

My friend, the devil can only make inroads into our minds when he gets us to focus on our obedience instead of Christ’s obedience. His strategy is to point us to our obedience or the lack of it to determine our standing before God. But just as our position as sinners is not based on what we do, but what the first Adam did, in the same way, we are forever righteous today not because of what we do, but because of what Christ, the last Adam, did on the cross.

So the next time your thoughts seem to condemn you, say, “I am righteous whether I have good or bad thoughts. My righteousness has nothing to do with my obedience. Jesus’ obedience at the cross made me righteous.” Then,go ahead and pray, knowing that you have access to God and His favor, and that He hears the prayer of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29)

There is no compromise when it comes to making excuses for sin. That is what people are doing here. They are saying they will forever sin or be a slave to it (Which is making an excuse for sin). Jesus came to set the captives free. He came to set us free from sin and not to be a slave to it.

First, 2 Corinthians 10:5 is talking about casting down arguments that exalts itself above the knowledge of God. It is not talking about correcting others by the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16).

Second, as for Romans 5:19: Well, when you read that verse you also have to read Romans 6 that says we cannot continue in sin so that grace may abound. Romans 6 also tells us that sin shall not have dominion over you. Romans 8 says there is no Condemnation those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.

As for Proverbs 15:29: You also have to read Proverbs 28:13 where it says we have to confess and forsake sin order to have mercy.

Was not expecting that, after just reading about flowers, butterflies, trees, and singing to Jesus. lol
It can wear a person down when you have a revelation of grace and see legalists trying to put chains of religion on the children of God.

You are only deceiving yourself because you do not believe the Scriptures that say we can cease from sin. Not giving up does not matter if you believe you always ultimately fail. It is a future declaration that you are going to serve evil instead of God.
I gather you have a fiancé and your plan is to one day get married and have children? If you ever get to that point it will be then that you begin to see you own depravity....or you won't. But in any case, your children will probably need a a little extra therapy when you are done with them....if your interactions here are indicative of your ignorance about the nuance that happens in relationships.

This verse is amazing to me as I read it in context. I used to wonder how to do this., the problem was not knowing how to cast every thought... It is looking at HIM., it's always about looking to Jesus, beholding HIM is what gives us joy and peace. We are constantly admonished in the Bible to behold Jesus.

You see, God wants us to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”. Now, whose obedience are we to focus on? Christ’s obedience and not our own obedience!

This was an amazing truth I learned some time ago. The enemy is constantly messing with our thought life. We have this body of flesh and our responsibility is to bring every thought unto the obedience of Christ., focus on how we are in Him and not left to fend for ourselves against the enemy. He has already defeated our enemy.

Amen and yahooooo to that. There is therefore now NO condemnation to them who are IN Christ Jesus.. period. For you are not under law but under GRACE.

This is so key to rightly dividing the Word of Truth. IMPUTATION. How many of us know what that fancy word means??? I didn't pay much attention to it until taking a deeper look at grace. We were under the first Adam's sins. We didn't even do anything when we were born IN Adam. Yet we were guilty before God. BUT then Jesus, the last Adam came into the picture and now we who had done NO good thing, are imputed HIS righteousness. Only God could do this.

I'm so glad the Lord did this and shows it to us in His Word. It opens up all new things to us. Righteousness is a place, a standing and a gift we receive when we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior.

I think when one becomes a parent there begins an understanding of the type of love God has for us. One never quite has that level of self sacrificial love toward anyone but their child.

Perhaps when Jason has a little one he will understand about "never leave nor forsake" and the prodigal son parable will take on new meaning.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 cor 14:33

Jason is the master of confusion..

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.prov 21:2

He believes he is right, but god sees his heart.

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

The only focus jason has is sin in others.

Why is anyone defending themselves to this false teacher, who clearly is not of God.

My Dear Sky.....JL is here to take you by the hand and lead you back to Speak.....we have no business here as our kind aren't welcome here....truly tis probably an argument thread that no one is listening in and it is a waste of time and not worth our emotions to get upset over..... So let us take our leave and bid them farewell and invite them to spend quality time with the Master, Jesus Christ.....who saved us by grace it was a gift that covered our sins not a license to sin.....Blond out.

Do you believe that you can overcome sin? I sure do. Do you not know that Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil?
Yes, as stated earlier some are easier to overcome than others. Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil - are the works of the devil destroyed? or Will he be totally destroyed in the end?

Skylove,

I can understand your frustration with Jason. Jason has shown himself to be a little less responsive than a wall.

At least, a wall will occasionally give an echo. Jason only gives his agenda. When you think about how unrealistic your expectations are, you will be less frustrated!

Jason does not respond to anyone; so, it is unrealistic to think he will respond to you, as lovely as you are!

"This sorry thread"

Lol, it seems this thread has been derailed a tad bit. Just a tad. Somehow turning from the topic of grace being a license to sin to sinless perfectionism. Are they hand in hand, or is one used to condemn others? It seems the legalist will accuse the believers in the Gospel of Grace as using it as license to sin and then will be themselves sinless perfectionists so that again, they can accuse believers of sin. Does anyone else think legalism focuses too much on sin, and too little on the finished work of the cross?

Without a doubt! WAY too much. It seems to be about all they focus upon.
