Blasphemy of the Spirit was accusing Jesus Christ PERSONALLY, in hypostatic union of doing works through demons rather than the Spirit.

We would not and could not have a "whosoever will" Gospel if the Blasphemy of the Spirit was for us.
Which is unbelief.....to attribute the works of Jesus dia the Holy Spirit to the power of the devil is to reject the work of Christ as from God....this is a state of unbelief and one who is in unbelief concerning the work of Christ does not and has not had the blood applied...hence an unforgivable state......

Wait a minute now you are quoting 1 John 3:9, 5:18 and interjecting spirit into those scriptures, they say the person not the spirit does not sin because they keep themselves from continuous deliberate sin.

Was not you the one who said just the other day and in the past that you and all of us will continue to sin everyday ???

The absurdity is saying or showing we will never have victory over sin through the Lord, or to pretty much state that the Holy Spirit will not strengthen us where we are weak to keep us from being under bondage of sin.

If you are still giving into your flesh then you still are under bondage to the law !!!
This shows your inability to reason Kenneth which astounds me....are you really that dense! Paul said clearly the flesh IS DEAD because of SIN...God's KINGDOM is SPIRITUAL...Jesus said that which is born of SPIRIT is SPIRIT...it is the SPIRIT that is BORN of GOD, does NOT SIN because HIS SEED remaineth IN US.....Your inability to reason and your blindness amazes me!

I won't push it, but just for thought.......................do you really believe it is ALL sin. Or is there a contingency in there for certain sins He didn't pay for?

And I won't push it any farther. Just do we REALLY believe he paid for ALL sin. I believe He did.
Maybe we have to choose our wording carefully as to not contradict the Word, but the bible is clear on the matter of disbelief. Those who do not believe are condemned already. He paid for all sin. Is there a caveat? I see what you are saying about the unpardonable sin and Jesus paying for all sin. Is this a contradiction? You're trying to make sense of it. From a logical perspective, we can say that He paid for all sin that was payable. lol Which is all sin. However, disbelief in the fact he did die on the cross and resurrect on the third day would be along the lines of no more sacrifice for sins. If you don't believe Jesus' sacrifice, there is no other sacrifice that will suffice. So to disbelieve would be unpardonable because there is no sacrifice for unbelief but for those that believe. The application of the blood is to those that believe.

PS: If I used faulty logic, feel free to point it out. lol

Ace,
Don't get discouraged. There will almost never be a verse posted that cannot be countered with a verse that, with the necessary mindset, can be said (and fairly legitimately) to state just the opposite.

I honestly have come to believe that the Bible is set up this way.

You see, it does not start with the Bible, this Christianity. It begins with belief. And there are two ways of believing. You can either remain in the "law", trying to do everything for Salvation on your own. Or you can step into a kind of "unknown" Spiritual realm, and trust totally in Jesus.

I have come to see that there actually ARE two sets of verses that either discipline can see as true (and be willing to defend to the death). It simply first begins with which belief you hold to. An especially scarry thing is that, depending upon your mindset, some of these "proof verses" can often be exactly the same verses.

I think it honestly DOES come down to the fact that you will "find the God your heart is looking for." There is a passage in the Bible that Speaks to God handing unbelievers over to follow a strong delusion. I think this never-ending battle over verses that seem to "prove" our beliefs is part of that delusion.

If you will notice, both "sides" are equally puzzled that the other parties just cannot see the pure and simply proof that is right there in front of them.

In context DC, this is very personal and face to face offence to Christ. Jesus is dealing with "His" pharisees and what they were doing and how far they were off.

The blasphemy of the Spirit was a very specific sin in a group of very specific people........Pharisees.

They were saying that Jesus Christ was casting out demons in the power of satan. He was pointing out their own hypocrisy and pride(the veil that is the blackest for us)

12:27 “And if I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Consequently they shall be your judges. (NAS)

The Pharisees also cast out demons. By whos power did they cast out demons? They would all claim by the Spirit of God.

So Jesus was pinning them down. If He was casting out demons by the power of demons, so were the Pharisees. Jesus wins the argument by pointing out their irrational thinking.

The particular circumstances of this blasphemy cannot be done or duplicated today.

Brother I have looked at the context and the underlying problem was unbelief into the work of Christ and by what power he was doing the work....they were unforgivable because of their unbelief.....all who will not believe and or reject the work of Christ by the power of God are unforgivable....

It's nothing new. And we shouldn't be surprised. In Jesus' time there were about ten different sects of Jews, and they all had different beliefs, to an extent.... and sometimes the differences were quite pronounced and distinct. And these guys only had the one basic idea of "g-d" to get straight. We now deal with a belief in Jesus, so things get even more strained at times.

Not going to argue that Brother. How can a guy say it? With Grace believers its basically a non issue?

Looking at what other Christians believe about the unpardonable sin over the years., I'm of the strong belief that we can't commit this sin if we are a Christian. Unbelief is the only unpardonable sin for today IMO. I respect and listen to Andrew Wommack as a preacher and teacher but I don't agree with his belief that a Christian can fall away.

If we have been made a new creation and born again given eternal life, we can't be unborn due to some sin, then it would mean sin is stronger than the work of redemption Jesus accomplished in us. And our security would be un-secured.

BTW It's really good to have this grounding in my own faith in God's Word that even when respected men and women of God disagree, I'm able to see us all as fallible. Some years ago I would have buckled under the popular and best presented Bible interpretation or been thrown into doubt if a respected Christian disagreed with me. It's just so good to have the HolySpirit witness with our spirits that we are His. We don't have to have all the answers to be His. We just have to have Jesus.

He wants us to trust Him in spite of how we feel. He doesn't want us to fear because He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. Also, in reading this article below. AW says that only a mature believer can commit this sin.. Well really,? what is a mature believer but a child of God who is subject to being stupid at times? We will never "arrive" until Jesus comes so mature or not we are still very capable of being idiots while here on earth and NEED HIM at all times., mature or immature right? I must respectfully disagree with Andrew Wommack and others who agree with him.

THE UNPARDONABLE SIN
MATTHEW 12:31, "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shalt be forgiven unto men: but blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."
LUKE 12:10; MATTHEW 12:24-31; MARK 3:22-30

The word "blaspheme" means "to speak evil of; defame; or revile." In context, Jesus is saying that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is attributing the working of the Holy Spirit to the devil. Many people in the Bible did this, including Saul, who became the Apostle Paul. However, we see in 1 Timothy 1:13, that Paul said he received mercy concerning his blasphemy because he had done it "ignorantly in unbelief." Therefore, the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost that Jesus warns about must be the willful reviling of the Holy Ghost with knowledge of what is being done.

This parallels Hebrews 6:4-6, where qualifications are placed on those who can fall away from grace. This passage indicates that only a mature Christian can commit such a thing. Likewise, with blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, rash statements spoken against the Holy Spirit in ignorance or unbelief by those who don't really know what they are doing can be forgiven.

From our human perspective, no clear line can be drawn as to when someone becomes accountable for blasphemies and has committed this unpardonable sin. We can be assured that God knows the hearts of all men and that He will judge righteously concerning this. However, God's Word does show us that when anyone becomes a "reprobate," they lose all conviction from God (Rom. 1:28).

Therefore, anyone who is convicted and repentant over having possibly blasphemed the Holy Ghost has not yet reached the place where it is unpardonable or they wouldn't care. Keep your heart tender and sensitive to Him. Listen to His voice speak to you through His Word today.

I don't know which way to go here but I do know that we are most likely sinning thousands of times a day without even realizing it and we can't possibly keep account.

I really like the fact that we are even secure in eternity, because Jesus lives to intercede on our behalf forever, because His priesthood is forever. How cool is that? I mean, seriously. Even into eternity He is able to save us completely. I remember I would have this little thought that it was like I was striving to get to Heaven and then I would be good, but then I realized the angels got kicked out. I was questioning not my security of getting into Heaven but in staying there. Then I read Hebrews 7:25.

Hebrews 7:25King James Version (KJV)

25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

You do know Willie-T that the Scriptures came from God? The Scriptures do not contradict each other. Its peoples own PERSONAL interpretation of the Scriptures that contradict each other. The problem is very few people listen to what the Holy Spirit says in the Scriptures because they are walking in Darkness.

There are only two different kinds of people. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and those who have rejected Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Those who try to keep the Laws are usually not True Christians. Those who follow Jesus Christ by Faith are the True Christians.

There is ONLY one Truth in the Bible Willie-T, there is no other Truth. The other truth is just twisting the Scriptures to say what YOU want it to say.

You do know Willie-T that Jesus Christ IS in the Old Testament? He is the "I AM" that is in the Old Testament. So why are you denying that Jesus was not in the Old Testament?

Its not more complicated like you teach Willie-T. Jesus Christ the Son of God HAS been with us from the beginning.

For what sin will we lose our Salvation? We cannot lose our Salvation by sinning because we never received our Salvation by NOT sinning!

We received our Salvation by Faith and Grace. The ONLY way we can lose our Salvation is by losing our Faith. The problem is once you have lost your Faith that Jesus Christ is God, how then can you receive back your Faith that Jesus Christ IS God?

Yes we can lose our Salvation, but we cannot lose it by sinning.

If you peoples would just read the Bible with the Holy Spirit you would understand more about who God is and what Truths He has to say.

I see so many people here trying to deceive us True Christians with their lies.
