It's funny how Asian compliments are the BEST (i.e., worst) and some of the most backhanded ones around.

* I've been told, "You have big eyes... FOR AN ASIAN..." (Uh... thanks, I think.) Both white people and Asians have told me this. Strangely, I have also gotten compliments on my eyebrows (of all things) and my extremely pale skin.

* "Chinese mothers would love you, you have a very 'healthy-looking', strong body that could bear a lot of children." (Compliments of a Chinese guy. Um... nice to know I meet the Chinese standards of baby-making, even though I'm not Chinese...) Talk about crossing racial barriers...

* "How can such a tiny little girl... EAT SO MUCH???" (comment from a white girl at one of those Asian restaurants where they cook the food right in front me.) I wanted to tell her, "LESS talking and MORE cooking there, girlfriend. I'M HUNGRY."

I actually had this told to me this morning by my accounting instructor who just happens to be a guy and he complimented how awesome my boots are and that I lost weight. I find it weird that he is both a guy and my instructor saying these things and honestly I thought he was out of line, but I know he didn't mean it in a perverted way, so I take it in stride.

That's the best compliment someone can give me!! :D

Does that make me shallow?? Maybe... I don't know... But I still love hearing it... :)

I love those compliments too in fact I can't go anywhere without hearing it, but coming from a man of his position was odd and then there was an awkward silence so I knew he realized he spoke before he thought it out, it all happens to us.

When I was in middle school, one of the librarians told me I had the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. Awkward o_O.

When I first read this without my glasses, I read boobs instead of boots! Oh my! LOL
But that's really cool, good for you girl! I don't think it's out of line. If a guy were to lose weight, I would tell him. Sometimes that's what people need to keep them motivated. :)

Huahuahua Well... as I've said before... hardly anything makes me blush... I would've thought nothing of it... hehehehe

Last evening a friend of mine managed to make me blush... I know him for about 10 years or so... and he was like "I can't believe it!!! I need to take a picture of your face!!" huahuahuahuahua

Bummer.

People automatically expect me to know how to do Karate.
....or that lm related to Bruce Lee.

Normally l tell people that l dislike Asian stereotypes, and then l excuse myself to go work on my Honda Accord.

BTW, I told that lady to be happy with how you are.
Thou shall not covet thy neighbors eyelid creases.

Carol, you are beautiful inside and out. I love your encouraging, upbeat take on everything! :)

I don't have a significant other, but... hopefully someday! :D

That's just jealousy talking. What they are really saying is "I wish I could eat like that."

Pass the french silk pie please.

"You're not an adult."

"Yes. I am."

"Well, you're like a teen adult."

"I stopped being a teen 12 yrs ago."

"I'm saying you're cool!!"

Poor student lol

I guess the weirdest one was a brother of a friend whom I believe had no romantic interest in me told me I had perfect lips ROFL. I thought that was a strange thing to say. I think perfect lips are heart shaped - mine are not lol.

I was strolling down the street pregnant as a honey bee with my third child back in the 1980's. I was almost 9 months along so my stride was rather wobbly, similar to a Weeble (if you recall those toys). Up the street coming toward me were two young boys, smiling ear to ear at me. I thought, "Awww, how adorable that they can appreciate a pregnant woman and smile at me." I took it as a compliment, ya know?

But just as the boys were about to pass by me, the smaller of the two started quacking loudly like a duck and flapping his arms while wobbling side to side. The other boy laughed his head off and they took off running.

Even though it was embarrassing at the time, I laugh every time I think about it now. I guess it wasn't a compliment after all. ROFL!!!

I entered an electronic section of a store and the guy(employee) behind the counter froze everything he was doing, including dealing with his customer (my sister's husband), and said, "Hold on! I just have to say your beard is epic. Its like a dragon beard." Peculiar compliment but made me feel uplifted. :)
You do have a really nice beard, if I saw you in person I would be tempted to touch it. Not to be weird or anything but......
