This is why in the original posted I also suggested using a member's name of the same gender, as if the two of you were going to be adopted into the same family. I wanted to include as many people as possible so that no one felt left out, as well as avoiding uncomfortable situations as you mention (I would certainly advise against anyone using the name of anyone who is opposite gender and married!)

Really, all this thread was meant to be is silly fun (I'm trying to de-stress my own self as well, as I'm going through a lot, too), and while this thread may tank, when I get an idea, I usually figure, Hey, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
