Sorry to interrupt the already ongoing argument in progress, but I just wanted to say that I liked Willie's comment because I've known a lot of Christians in real life... who seem to be awfully happy that a lot of people are going to be eternally damned.
While I myself struggle with anger and sometimes hatred issues, I've just never understood how we can be at peace with the thought of looking forward to the destruction of others and call ourselves Christians.
Especially when God Himself says, "Surely I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?" Ezekiel 33:11. (Interestingly, God is talking to His OWN people-- which is US, in essence--in this verse.)
Of course we as believers can look forward to God's kingdom coming to pass, but if He doesn't look forward to seeing unbelievers struck down, why should we?
Thank you for reminding of this, Willie.
Sorry for the derail, but this really stood out to me.
