Hey everyone!!!
A regular CC user has been posting beautiful animated Christmas scenes with gently falling snow that are making me homesick.
I grew up in the north, and every year, I would eagerly await (and hope for snow) the week of Christmas. For some reason, it just didn't seem like Christmas when everything was still green. During my childhood, we had some snow storms that shut everything down for a week, so snow always reminds me to thank God for shelter and warmth.
The most vivid Christmas memory I have is that my childhood church put out a life-sized nativity scene every year, and as a kid, I always felt anxious and worried if I saw the Baby Jesus covered in snow. Yeah, I knew it was only a statue but I always had the urge to run over, brush off all the snow, and wrap Him in more blankets...
One year, it was snowing cats and dogs and our church replaced its usual nativity with a nightly Live Nativity scene instead (with a plastic doll as the Baby Jesus). I remember feeling sorry for all the actors, who must have been absolutely freezing.
Even in my home state, there were many Christmases without snow. Someday, I would love to be able to fly to a different place every year that has snow--and even get snowed in for a week--at Christmas.
What about you?
How do you like your Christmases?
Does it still seem like Christmas if you're looking at palm trees or mowing your lawn?
(As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts, but will also be posting a poll, just for the fun of it. )
