No the chaff burning is bad, not the treshing floor. Did He baptize the Pharisees with the Holy Spirit?
John was talking to Israel. The godly remnant would be baptized in spirit, the ungodly in Israel would be baptized in fire.

Yes so the fire was good. Now you do the same as some hypergrace teachers who say repentance texts are only for Israel.

Yes, maybe that's why they love to preach about it.
You're not getting the point. Fire is for the ungodly. It represents judgment, not blessing.

I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish that it had been kindled already! But I have a baptism to be baptized with [i.e., the cross, death], and how I am distressed until it is accomplished! Luke 12:49-50

Yeah, I know. Ive been contemplating on finding a new church. I just dont know where.
That really won't be difficult to find, for broad is the way of the many congregations where you can just sit in a pew, and never be concerned that the Holy Spirit will bother you, even a little bit.

But, consider what you may be throwing away. David, in the Psalms, actually begged and pleaded for God to show Himself to him in these ways. He even danced like a wild man in those times He did.

It was to purify the sons of Levi. His fire gets rid of sin. If it gets rid of my sin I get sanctified. If someone doesn't want to repent fire is judgement.

Fire for the ungodly? I wonder what that was appearing on the heads of the Apostles at Pentecost? Our very religion began with fire coming down to anoint the church.

as of fire:

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord[a]*in one place.*2*And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.*3*Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and*one*sat upon each of them.*4*And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

That fire and speaking in tongues was a sign of judgment to the unbelieving Jews. The fire in Matthew 3 and Luke 3 is judgment. The context makes this more than clear.

Isaiah 28
For by people of strange lips
and with a foreign tongue
the Lord will speak to this people,
[SUP]12 [/SUP] to whom he has said,
“This is rest;
give rest to the weary;
and this is repose”;
yet they would not hear.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And the word of the Lord will be to them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little,
that they may go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.

That's that the chaff gets burned up with fire or if someone built with hay their works will be burned, but they will be saved, whatever that means.

The spirit separates the wheat from the chaff and tares; then the fire consumes the chaff and tares.

It can be said that we have fiery trials, but that's not the same thing that those who glory in fire are talking about. In fact, it's the exact opposite.

Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, [when it] takes place to test you, as [if something] strange were happening to you. But to the degree that you share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, so that also at the revelation of his glory you may rejoice [and] be glad. 1 Peter 4:12-13

Oh yes indeed, but to them it was a blessing and to those who got saved.

I agree. But the fire is symbolic of judgment. Just as it is in Matthew 3 and Luke 3

Here is a great video on the "fire" from the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2....don't let man's reasoning rob you of what the Lord has done for us and will do in our lives....His love is mighty towards us.
