So from now on, we acknowledge no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, we now know Him that way no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away, all things have become new. - 2 Corinthians 6:16, 17

Don't make an issue of the outward man. It doesn't matter anymore. :D

Ironically, I have always had to fight for long hair, except maybe in my 20's?

When I was in high school, my mom insisted I keep my hair very short. I hated it. I had to part it on the side, which I also hated. On the bus on the school, and on the way home, my friends would help me change the part, because I didn't have a mirror. Then one summer, when my mom wanted it cut before I went on the bus south to visit my best friend, I stood up to her and said I wouldn't go, and wouldn't cut my hair. She gave in, and that was the end of her telling me what to do with my hair. I was 15 or 16. Her reasoning- only hippies wore long hair.

I had natural waves and dark brown hair with red highlights, and all I had to do was wash it, brush it once, and it dried into beautiful curls. It could not have been easier to "maintain."

Then I went to this church, and the women's group had a lady come in to do makeovers. I got picked, and she did my face and insisted I needed a short hair cut to go with the makeup transformation. Since I only wear makeup on special occasions, and very little at that, I passed on that suggestion. I think I was around 28. I was actually a little insulted, and became determined not to be some kind of magazine norm for "aging" women.

When I got older, people kept insisting I needed to just "trim" my hair to get rid of the split ends. Except they were talking taking off 8 to 10 inches. Sometimes I would get my hair cut to shoulder length, and hate it, and just grow it out. In fact, when I look around at the older women in every church I have ever been in, they ALL have short hair. I'm taking 40+. (Oh yes, I have been told that having long hair makes the face droop down and the wrinkles look worse. Except I really don't have a lot of wrinkles, so far!)

So now I am an extreme, gray haired rebel. I let my hair grow out past my shoulders. I like my hair long. It doesn't curl like it used to, it frizzes instead, because apparently the gray hair is not as thick. So I do blow dry it, especially in winter.

I don't know what churches you people are going to, but I literally never see women who are past 40 or 50 with long hair in the evangelical churches I have attended. Personally, I think it is up to the woman what she does with her hair. But I have to ask, how much is influenced by what other women are wearing, and how much that is influenced by glamour magazines?

I don't think we will ever go back to the days when all women had long hair, seeing as I have been the exception for so many years.

My hair is mid way down my back just now. I've let it go longer though. Here in the south I think more women wear longer hair. I cut it a bit in the summer to keep cool. Ive had it quite short though and still looked like a woman. But if you like your hair longer you should wear it that way. I think they want women in the salon all the time so they tell us we need shorter hair. I think its business more than anything.

Check it out. The ozone is back. It does that. Scientists can't explain it so they theorize, and next thing you know... the theory didn't pan out but no one got that memo. Boring "news coverage."
Yaaaaay bring out the Final Net. :) lol

my wife just got her hair cut short today -- in what they call a "pixie cut."
it's very feminine, and i think it's adorable :D
and it's functional -- her hair is very thick, and if she leaves it long, in the summer she's miserable. we're regularly over 100* and she works out in the garden and yard almost every day.

o yes and my wife? definitely not a lesbian, lol.

i get the idea behind the OP -- yeah, i agree there's something to that. especially given the context of what meaning it has among a lot of those people. but i'm also agreeing with everyone else reminding us that 'the Church has no such custom' about hair length and that the outward man is not where the issue is. my wife doesn't sin with her haircut - she's being a prudent woman, the kind that a husband should thank God for every day. :)

I have a short cut, not because I am rebelling against anything, but because of the work I do. It gets extremely hot in the factory where I work so shorter hair is better, and it also means less time in the shower so more time to sleep. I am a third shift worker and my neighbors are not so, sleep is a very necessary but often not gained thing to have.

the "hole" is seasonal. it's at its biggest in September every year, and by December or January is recovered.
when scientists talk about the ozone hole increasing in size, they mean that the yearly maximum "hole" is getting bigger every year. not that it's always there.

that currently - in March - the 'hole' is gone, is well explained, well known, and entirely expected, and entirely consistent with warnings about the hole expanding because of pollution in the atmosphere.

that's why it's "not news" -- not because of a global conspiracy to hush it up.

It's funny how some people get hair-obsessed. NO ONE ever thought Audrey Hepburn was "manly" with her very short pixie.

Well, on the subject of hair, when a gal gets her long hair cut short, it's dis-tressing.

Yep. You are correct! That is another topic altogether isnt it?
My point exactly! There are differences in culture. These days long hair on guys is sometimes viewed as rebellion, then it was the norm, and even occasionally commanded!

Totally disagree with those two comments in red. I AM NOT "rebelling against my God-given identity". I have short hair for comfort and ease of maintenance. I'm not trying to act tough. And for the record, I'm NOT a lesbian OR gay.. lol.. I prefer short hair, it's easy to take care of. I don't need to ACT tough. I AM tough..lol So don't go making opinions on a person based on how long or short their hair is, or whether they're gay or not.
Lol please read the context...before getting angry....I'm talking about lesbians' with a hair cut....not straight people with short/long hair....I could care less what hairdo people have :)

Excuses excuses. Every woman has to wear it long and no braids.

Maybe they just like it short?
How many lesbians do you know?
Are they a representative sample of the group you wish to have an opinion about?
(If you meet two- three straight men with pink T- shirts, do you assume most straight men now wear pink?)

If straight men wear pink I always look at them like: did your wife pick that for you?

If a guy I like friendzones me it doesn't really make me feel like a guy but a little bit. It makes me walk around with a knot and who cares? clothes and behave like one of the guys until I'm over him.

For a hair cut it has to be someone real special. Only did that once because he was the one I changed into a girl for. Lol they didn't recognize me in church.
