IF you're really smart, but not socially awkward then congratulations you're just really smart!

Being very smart doesn't automatically make someone a geek or a nerd..

Was Steve Jobs a nerd? Maybe when he was young and spent all his time building computers in his garage, but not when he was coming up with the iPhone and iMacs and iPads, etc.. He wasn't a nerd.. he was a genius!

You could try a different instrument. Like piano or drums or bass or cello ect ect. Guitar isnt the only instrument in the world : p

Being a good smart aleck takes a lot of brain power. There are two kinds of smart... those who know a lot, and those who are great thinkers.. (sometimes someone is both). Smart alecks know how to stretch their thinking.

Lol no, I think ship sailed long ago. My grandparents had a piano before they died, I'd play that but wasn't any good at it lol, just moreso entertaining myself.

I always been a fan of vocals, the human voice is always more powerful than the instruments in my opinion. Am a sucker for a good singer. Lol not good at singing myself though.

I've always thought that nerds were those that kept to themselves. I think they are also not as good-looking at geeks are. So Kim that's a good thing! Tell him he's right "you're too pretty to be a nerd!"
I think geeks are more socially acceptable than nerds. Nerds don't have a lot of friends.
I'm not saying I agree with these things. Maybe some nerds are cute...but from what I've seen online...it goes something like this.

Samantha: Well, that's pretty cool. Hey, but a lot can happen over a year. I mean, you could come back next Fall as a completely normal person.

* I'm way too cheap for energy drinks, and I'm super sensitive to caffeine. When absolutely needed, I rely on home-brewed coffee, tea, or diet Coke.

* Not into partying or wild living at all. Hardly ever drink, and only in safe social situations, such as at a friend's house for dinner.

* I'm neither really smart nor an expert on anything, but boy, can I talk about something if someone gives me the chance! ;)

(This thread is all meant in fun. I've seen myself as a nerd all my life and have learned to embrace that title. ;) However, my friend's comment has given me a bit of an identity crisis.)

Geeks can be better to go shopping with though... you can have two geeks or a geek and a nerd, but not two nerds.

I've LOVED everyone's answers here, especially the charts, graphs, and pictures, and hope you will all please continue!!!

I know it's going to seem like all these threads are kind of fluffy and random, but they actually do have a purpose.

Many years ago I was at a theme park and saw a young boy, about 14, with his friends. He walked with his head held down, and you could tell that this group of boys were not part of the "cool" crowd at school. This boy had one of the worst cases of acne I'd ever seen--it was a huge red rash covering his face, neck, and shoulders, and it was about 100 degrees that day, in the shade. I felt SO sorry for him, because I know it must have not only been painful, but humiliating. I wanted to hug him and tell him it was going to be ok.

I do hope we all get a few smiles out of these threads.

But more than that, I hope we're reaching out to a few young people who don't quite know where they fit in, or maybe people have labeled them or made fun of them for just being themselves, or for having a condition they've done everything they could to to try to fix.

I'm hoping that maybe some of these young people are looking at us and can find something to relate to, because maybe they can say to themselves, "Wow, all these people were made fun of for being nerds and geeks, too? Maybe it's not so bad."

At the very least, maybe some of our stories will reassure them it's ok to be themselves, and to just hold their head high in Christ and not care so much what anyone else thinks.

Whoever that young boy was in that theme park all those years ago, these threads are for you. God bless.
