Oh, I love Mad Libs! Hmmm, let me see...
well, I often go out on banana peels where travel to remote high Mario Kart Rainbow Road, often times in wibbly wobbly timey wimey zones. My goal is usually horcrux extraction, or the recovering of sensitive information or equipment, such as the next cream of mushroom technology that the Gallifreyan Government managed to extracted from the pi servers. After parachuting onto the roof of the Donkey Kong of Death building, I had to break through the locks on the elevator service door, the Starship Enterprise I brought. After getting inside I made my way down to server room. I wiped the data from the servers, mission complete, and made my way out. I had to sneak across the boarder into Rolo McFlurry for recovery.
Yep... seems legit.

I guess you could call it a secret hobby.. Before I turned to Christ, I was fascinated by the paranormal. I'd love looking into stuff like orbs, psychics, near death experiences, out of body experiences, premonitions, angels, demons and of course ghosts. I'm still fascinated by that stuff but I don't spend much time looking into them anymore.

I used to think I was the only one. I also used to love sites like "True Crime Library" and so forth. I'd come home from work and relax... by reading about infamous criminals...
But this is partially because back when I was in school, I wanted to be a criminal psychologist, and I wanted to specialize in serial killers and the most off-the wall crimes (in the hopes of learning how to prevent others from going the same route.)
I used to think I was the only one. I also used to love sites like "True Crime Library" and so forth. I'd come home from work and relax... by reading about infamous criminals...
But this is partially because back when I was in school, I wanted to be a criminal psychologist, and I wanted to specialize in serial killers and the most off-the wall crimes (in the hopes of learning how to prevent others from going the same route.)

Mel, I can totally, totally relate. I used to read case after case of these kinds of crimes and the biggest thing that always puzzled me was how many of these killers seemed to commit these acts because they had a sexual attraction to violence and death. I always wondered, How in the world does that happen???
My program in school was behavioral psychology, if anyone's heard of Pavlov's Dogs--Pavlov was a scientists who paired meat powder with the ding of a bell repeatedly, and eventually, the dogs in his experiment salivated just to the sound of the bell.
During my time of ministry and writing inmates, there was one I wrote whom I believe had all the makings of a serial killer. He was already in for murder and had a long history of attempted murders both in and out of prison, as well as at least one other murder he talked about openly but was never associated with at the time.
He had all the classic "textbook" characteristics that you read about in high-profile cases--a severely abusive childhood in which he started acting out his revenge on animals and then moved on to people. He wrote that violence was his biggest turn-on and was something he couldn't resist. And, he was only 27 years old (with the abuse starting at about 7 years old.)
For the first time, I could see glimpses as to why these people might turn out this way. From the time this guy was a very young child, people had severely abused him, and because he felt helpless to stop it, he would fantasize in his mind about fighting back/violently stopping, and eventually killing the abusers.
So, what would otherwise be a natural human response (sexuality) became paired with abuse, extreme anger, and violent thoughts over and over again over the years... to the point where they were intermingled, and he could no longer separate them into individual feelings. For him, any feelings of anger or sexual response all triggered the same violent reactions.
Now, people ask why would I be interested in things like this? Because all around us, people are growing up in abusive environments they have no control over... and their anger is growing, growing, growing... and then we wonder why someone goes into a school, post office, shopping mall, etc.--and opens fire.

Because if we can understand the process of what happens... Maybe we can also find a way to stop/prevent or even reverse it if it's not too late.
Somewhere inside this guy there was still a little boy. He loved animated movies like The Land Before Time (he hadn't seen any movies since being in prison and remembered this as a kid) and talking about his interests, such as tropical fish.
And there was also part of him that was very much still an adolescent. He loved it when girls paid attention to him and claimed he'd loved to get married and have a family.
But it was my personal opinion (and I'm by no means any kind of expert, but it was just my own observation) that he was too far gone to ever be released. He would regularly attack both inmates and officers as a way of coping with anger (and sometimes even boredom), leaving behind a string of people with permanent, horrifying injuries (they would have been killed if others hadn't broken up the fights.) I'm not saying there aren't times one needs to defend themselves in prison, but many of his actions were unprovoked.
Despite this, he had a strong group of Christian supporters who were actively fighting for his release. They cited that God can change anyone, and that this guy had changed and deserved a second chance, because God gives us all second chances.
Again, this is just my own personal opinion... But these people all had a vested personal interest in him (he knew how to be all things to all people, such a being a son to one of his supporters who had tragically lost his own son) and, like a bad relationship, they only saw the part of him that was still a boy and overlooked the reality of how he actually reacted around other people.
