Do you ever start laughing when you get hurt? I do, especially if I whack my toes or my elbow..lol

People CAN control the words that come out of their mouths. Some just choose not to.. THAT IS factual, btw.. :)
But how does that support their level of intelligence? See where your opinion becomes strictly your opinion and possibly condescending? *Wink...

True, you can control the words that come out of your mouth. Some situations though, you don't have time to ponder the correct words. It just rolls out! LOL Can you honestly say you have never had a Freudian slip?

But, if you are ignorant, how do you know what you have done is bad?

If you accidently cut your finger off, would you laugh? "HAHA Oh man, I cut my finger off. That's crazy stuff right there!"

You could have substituted the S word with something different.. But you CHOSE to say the S word, instead of saying something like "ow ow ow that hurt".. So yes, that IS vulgar, unlearned and ignorant behavior. Especially when you tell others not to swear around your son, then you go and swear yourself. Irregardless of whether son was there or not..
Do you own a dictionary? And irregardless voids out the word in itself... btw...

Hi all,

Just wondering what you do when someone in your company uses our Lords name in vain or as a cuss word.
It has often shocked and surprised me to even hear professing christians doing this and it angers me profoundly that in one breath they call on His name for help and aid and in the next breath dishonour him by casually using His name as an expletive.

And then there is the issue of non believers who do this.I have one such person in my life who frequently desecrates His holy name when angry, surprised or shocked but because I am trying to win her over to Christ I am not sure how I can tell her that I find this highly offensive and view it as a personal injury especially since this is the Name by which I have been saved.

And why is it that when someone injures their thumb with a hammer names such as " Hare Krishna" ," Mohammed" or " Bhudda" are exempt from being a word of derision?

Anyway, I am looking for pointers on how to confront people on this terrible sin while maintaining the balance of being firm yet still being winsome and conveying love.
Thanks!
Hello Mooky,

I understand fully what you are saying. I have been working for a company in computer operations and there are some who blaspheme either using the Lord's title or his name to express their emotion or in casual conversation and there is also a lot of slander and gossip. I keep saying to myself, for people who don't believe in God, they seem to use His name and title a lot. I believe the reason for this is that, because they are not in Christ the powers of darkness move them to use God's name in order to blaspheme him.

And why is it that when someone injures their thumb with a hammer names such as " Hare Krishna" ," Mohammed" or " Bhudda" are exempt from being a word of derision?
Regarding the above, by people using only the name of Jesus and his title of God to express emotion or in casual conversation, though meant to blaspheme Him, in a strange way it actually reveals who the true God is, for who else's name is continually blasphemed? The fact that there is no attack on those other so-called god's, it demonstrates that they are not God.

Sirk! I think you are mistaken. If you profess to love Christ then wouldn't you want to defend His honour? Or maybe you are just another lukewarm pew warmer.
I agree with Sirk for once. It is not our job to change everyone around us. If they are saved I would say they need to be corrected in love. But if a non christian is cussing or using God's name in vain then we can't hold them to the same standard we hold people in the faith.

You certainly sound good anyways.......................
Is that some of that christian speak?
It has nothing to do with changing them. God does that btw.
All will be judged and its up to YOU to tell them. Are you afraid? You scared to be rejected ?

I imagine if I wasn't a christian and some prude was always telling me what I can and can't do around her/ I would be annoyed and want to stay away from that person. There is nothing wrong with having boundaries, but being petty is not a virtue.

I don't have a problem with preaching the gospel to people or telling them that I don't agree with their life style. But I don't agree with being petty and judgemental towards others. So what someone said a cuss word. Someone used God's name in vain. It is a free country. I will not force my religion down other people's throats or act like a judgemental pharisee. I will show them love despite the fact that they are not saved yet, as I once was not saved. Now there are boundaries. You don't want to hang with people if they are causing you to sin. But if you want to avoid cussing might as well, become a hermit and avoid all human contact at all costs.

You can do as you please. I won't lose any sleep over someone else on the internet's decisions. I spoke my opinion, and in my opinion it is very petty.

So when we are walking in the spirit we just let it rip? How is that possible?

What happened to glorifying God in all we do?

“Come forth from her midst, My people,
And each of you save yourselves
From the fierce anger of the LORD.

At least he responded in a more Christ like manner than you did just now.

Look guys we don't need to go to war at each other just as we must respond as still waters to cussing and vulgar language we must also respond the same way to each other. I don't think Blue is correct about people being unlearned because they cuss and I also don't think it is our job to change ppl around us because that was never our job we dont have that kind of power only God does.
