We are not to communicate with the physically dead. It's necromancy, and it's condemned in the Bible.

If what you say is true, then what's the harm in a seance?
Well first off, a seance is communication with demons. Do you believe Heaven is empty?

I remember the funeral of my RCC uncle who died back in 2011. My cousin, his son, who is a Baptist, along with a close family friend who was a Lutheran, re-wrote the Catholic ceremony. They took out the readings from the Apocrypha, but more important they took out prayers for the sins of my uncle. The priest was furious. Right up there, from behind the pulpit, he said, "How can you not pray for the soul of this dead person? Surely you must realize he had sins that were not paid for when he died."
im assuming your Catholic uncle wanted a Catholic funeral and you guys took that away from him, all so you could make a plug for your anti Catholic crusade. you dont think thats taking things a bit to far?

wow

He had a Catholic funeral in a Catnolic Church. Just not the lies! It was not my call, but I think it was the right one! Why would his immediate family want to have non biblical lies about a place that doesn't exist? Why would they want to pray for sins that Jesus covered if my uncle was a believer?

Why would anyone want to endorse a lie?

Saul did not go to Endor to talk to demons. when Saul sought the wisdom, advice and intercession of Samuel - a saint and prophet of God - it was called "necromancy" by the scripture. not 'prayer.'

Saul was asking Samuel to mediate & intercede to God for him, and Samuel was dead.
the scripture calls this "necromancy" -- not "prayer."

if a catholic is not sinful to do the same with any dead saint, then Saul was not in sin either.

Saul sought out a medium (the witch) and conjured up spirits for his personal gain. That is sin. Jesus in Luke 9:29-31 spoke with the physically dead "And as [Jesus] was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became dazzling white. And behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was to accomplish at Jerusalem."

There is a distinct difference between going to mediums or sorcerers and conjuring up spirits and communicating (as Jesus did) with spirits that physically died in friendship with God.

So do I have permission now to talk to people who are dead as long as they are friends with God?

I'm not sure what permission you're seeking. Yes - you can go to God in prayer. Yes you can seek agreement in prayer from those under God's Grace. Yes you can ask whomever you wish to pray for you to God. I mean, do you ask people who are non believers to pray for you? I wouldn't think you would. But I bet you don't have any problems with asking others to pray for you as long as they are under God's Grace. I just happen to believe that salvation ensures eternal life in the Kingdom of God and I believe that living souls on earth and living souls in heaven can hear our requests for prayers as witnessed by John in Revelations 5:8.

It appears you need help with the difference
With the difference between conjuring up spirits and asking Mary to intercede for me? I honestly don't see one. Lol

Heck, apparently all you gotta do these days is claim the Holy Spirit told you and your stake is secure.

Yesterday a lady posted that God and/or the holy spirit told her that the name of God is Allah. So she started praising Allah in Jesus name.. Thank God Yahweh that that blog was taken down. Any more questions?

Does the Bishop of Rome,

Have the power,

to forgive the sins,

of men against God?
================================
If the Bishop of Rome forgives the sin,

Then Jesus must obey him and forgive the sin, (murder, as an example).
=====
If Jesus does not forgive the sin,

Then the Bishop of Rome is a lair.

I don't think i've ever "talked" with dead people. That sort of sounds like I'm standing around the grill talking sports with Casper. It's a lot more spiritual for me and to be honest - I rarely ask saints for intercession to pray for me. Just my personal thing. I just believe it's possible and it's supported by scripture. Now - here's something I will admit. I have seen with my own eyes Catholics who actually DO pray to saints including Mary. In other words - the prayer is constructed in such a way as to put the saint on the same level as God. And I think that is a practice that is wrong, but is born from the habit of asking a saint to intercede for you and I think sometimes a line is crossed whereby they think requesting something from a saint is the same as petitioning to God. Of course that's wrong and is clearly contrary to doctrine, but I think it can give a poor impression or be very confusing to those who are not Catholic.
