The one confesses their sin., while the other confesses Christ.

Yes, yes and yes!

The new covenant changed so many things, so many times we want to keep one foot in the old ...you know just in case.

Confessing Christ righteousness reminds us daily we are a new creation in Him.

I have sooo learned how His salvation is so complete if we can just let go of "self" and get both feet firmly planted in Him.

Let us continue to confess our righteousness in Christ and He will be magnified, Name above all names!

Yes..it sure does in James. When we do something against other people we should be confessing it to them.

That is very healthy and it seems to be tied in with healing. Unforgiveness affects us all either by not giving it out to others or by not accepting it from others. It is contrary to our new nature in Christ.

James 5:14-16 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;

[SUP]15 [/SUP] and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

[SUP]16 [/SUP] Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

AmenSister UnderGrace! He is so wonderful just like the Bible says. And our salvation is so much more than we first heard!! And when we first heard the news of our salvation it was pretty astonishing just the way it was!! So it is hard to imagine there is even more to come! (I think the word is "sozo"??)

But to keep finding out the many many truths that our salvation comes with. It is like an ocean finding out about Jesus and His grace and truth. What He has done for us is the gift that keeps on giving and giving the more He is revealed in us through the scriptures and the Holy Spirit. Like that old hymn about how "He giveth and giveth and giveth again" He is the Great Giver not the one who takes.

It is the enemy of our souls who comes to kill steal and destroy. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly. God keeps on giving and giving. We have to learn to take., and that goes against our religious up bringing. But our Father knows how important it is for us to humble ourselves and learn how to take freely from Him. That takes trust and confidence in His love for us.

It's these rivers of living water flowing in and through us in the Holy Spirit. Our minds can't contain it all but we can accept it by faith. And to be able to do that is first trusting in His amazing love and grace for us. It is beyond human reasoning this grace. Undeserved, unearned and unmerited. Why do other believers fight this beautiful truth? I'm convinced it is because they do not understand grace.

I'm not finding fault truly!! I didn't understand this sort of grace until yeeaaaarrrss after I was saved.
His ways are so much better and of so much more higher quality than our minds can even dream up!! I never dared believe He would be like this either! But our Good Shepherd told the truth when He promised to lead us and take care of us so that we would lack nothing.

Amen, His salvation is so complete. We just need to get out of the way like you said sister and let go of our own limited views of the kind of love He has for us and instead; "Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us., that we should become the sons of God!!!"

Thank you Grace777 for always clarifying things in your posts! I believe the Lord has blessed you with a gift. The use of the written word or the proper use of saying the right words in a timely manner is vital to opening up the truth. And when this is done in such simplicity I see it as a gift from God.

Confessing to one another is yet another gift God gives us. He knows our frame (He made us this way) He knows we need each other in relationships. "Relationship" is what God wants with us, and He wants us to have good relationships with one another. And so much more to build one another up in the faith. In a trusting relationship., we can hear our brothers and sisters out when they tell us hard things about ourselves. We can trust that they certainly do love us graciously and are not trying to hurt us or judge us. And that is only possible when the love of Jesus is being practiced in the church. We will actually seek out their advice and even when the truth is not easy we can accept it because we know we are loved and cared about. We will receive their words and they ours. (what a great plan God put in place for the church!!!)

Is it any wonder we love to fellowship as believers!? And when another Christian relates to us it is such a soul satisfying event. No wonder we believers love to fellowship with each other when it is right. And no wonder how debilitating it is when we believers don't fellowship properly. It can be a major blessing or it can be a devastating blow depending on whether Jesus is in it and the center of our relationships.

Christians are not immune to handling relationships poorly. We also have to learn how to be like Jesus in relationships. Confessing one to another has to be done in a loving graceful manner. If we don't do it with the kind of love (grace) God has shown us., it will be a mess. All of us should study 1 Corinthians 13 a lot so we can know how to relate like He does. 1Cor.13 should be required reading.
:D

"The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much" AMEN!

Another reason we need to consider the danger of condemnation in our lives just like the title of this thread points us in the right direction about. satan is the accuser of the brethren. he uses condemnation to cripple us and eventually kill us.

Many believers have lost hope because they accepted the lie of condemnation before God from the enemy. We are not condemned any more. Jesus took all our condemnation on the cross. We must daily receive this gift of no condemnation. Daily receive the grace given to us as sons. KNOW who we are IN Christ. This is a Vital truth to be daily aware of in this battle. Without this truth., the believer is very weak and the enemy can eat us up for lunch every day! and snack on us every night.

My friend, condemnation is the root cause of the symptoms of the curse manifesting in your life. That is why you need to know that at the cross, God took all your sins, put them on Jesus and unleashed the full fury of His wrath against them until Jesus cried out, “It is finished!”

If we do that., the enemy cannot accuse or kill us. he will have no power because Jesus took his power away. But we must believe what He said and what He did for us (No more guilt no more shame) There are many Christians who do not accept this gift of no condemnation. Instead, they think it is being "spiritual" to hold on to condemnation so they can show God how sorry they are as they see the awfulness of their sin and punish themselves with self condemnation.

The problem is - accepting condemnation does NO good. It defeats and makes a believer try to be his own 'author and finisher' of his own faith. When in fact it is Jesus who has that job. We must not try to take it upon ourselves. Condemnation is no longer a factor for us because of Jesus Christ. We believers must refuse the condemnation the enemy tries to hand us.

When we sin, we now have an Advocate with the Father forever., we look to Jesus and His finished work on our behalf and thank Him for what He did and walk away blessed by His love that gives us the the standing of sons and of forgiveness we need and the love that empowers us to sin no more.

In 1 Jn 1: 9, God says when we sin, We confess we have sinned, NOT confess we are the righteousness of God, As the false grace teaches tell us.
They say when we sin, we confess we are the righteousness of God.

There is a great thread that talks about 1 John1:9 and it will help you to understand the new creation in Christ better. Just click the link below to view it. It may conflict with our religious traditions but in the end knowing the truth sets us free and our love for the Lord grows dramatically.

There are to many errors in that link, And I think people are looking for something that will encourage them to keep on sinning. The teaching on that link Is a typical false grace teachings.
Error [1], The Bible doesn't say John was writing to agnostics. Every Greek Bible scholars say John is writing to the Believers.

Error [2], John includes himself among those in 1 Jn 1,
V6, "If WE say WE have fellowship with Him".
V7, "If WE walk in the light".
v8 "If WE say".
V9, "If WE confess our sins". V10, "If WE say have not sinned".

[3]If 1 Jn 1, isn't for the believer, Then neither are Chs 2--5, Because the Bible wasn't written in Chapter and verse, So John was writing ONE letter to ONE group of people.

[4]Nowhere in the Biblical new Testament Church are the unbelievers told to confess sins to be saved.

[5]The Greek meaning for, ""Confess", in 1 Jn 1: 9, Is, "To agree with, and say the same as God", So we have to agree with God, that we have sinned, and say we have sinned, Repent and be forgiven, cleansed and put back in righteousness.

[6] The Greek tense for, "Your sins have been forgiven", 1 Jn 2: 12, is, Our past repented sins have been forgiven, and out present and future sins will be forgiven upon repentance.

So as you can see, The religious traditions on that link contradicts the Biblical truth.

Remember, Some people want to hear something that will encourage them to live sinful lives, So the devil came along with your false grace teachings.

VVhat better way to be deceived than to think what is of God is from the devil? You then avoid the truth, because you've been deceived into thinking God's truth is a lie.

.
I don't have the time to devote to going through this whole post but will give a response to 1 John 2:12 as it wasn't in the link that was provided.

Forgiveness is a done deal bought for by the blood of our Lord. Despite what our religious upbringing has taught us. This is what scripture has to say about forgiveness but men's made up terms to support their religious views.

1 John 2:12 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven you for His name's sake.

have been forgiven = perfect passive

Perfect Tense

The basic thought of the perfect tense is that the progress of an action has been completed and the results of the action are continuing on, in full effect.

In other words, the progress of the action has reached its culmination and the finished results are now in existence. Unlike the English perfect, which indicates a completed past action, the Greek perfect tense indicates the continuation and present state of a completed past action.

passive = voice = action is happening to you....you are not doing it

Without a doubt this verse says that the sins are forgiven from a past action that remains in a continuous state and that was put on them....not something they did

Brethren ...we have a great salvation in our Lord!

Here are some more scriptures on the forgiveness of God thru the precious blood of our Lord!....

Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

We have redemption = present continuous action...so this means we have present continuous forgiveness of our sins...

and look...that grace stuff shows up again!...it's all according to our loving Father's grace that He has given to us in Christ our Lord.

Colossians 1:13-14 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
[SUP]14 [/SUP] in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Same thing here too...present continuous action = forgiveness of sins

Redemption!..we have been bought with the precious Blood of Jesus... Let's honor His work!

Scripture isolated can cause all sorts of opinions and traditions to be put in place:

Pay attention to the ..we and our and the you in 1 John chapter 1

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we (believers - namely John ) have looked at and our hands have touched - this we proclaim concerning the Word of Life"

(I John 1:1).
In other words, John is establishing that he was an eyewitness to the fact that Jesus truly did come in the flesh. He did this to convince the Gnostics that Jesus was not an illusion.

"We ( believers - namely John himself ) proclaim to you (unbelievers - gnostics
) what we have seen and heard, so thatyou (unbelievers - gnostics ) also may have fellowship with us ( believers ). And our ( believers )fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ" (verse 3).

This verse says two things. First, John repeats the fact that he, the rest of the apostles and other people saw Christ in the flesh. He wanted the Gnostics ( unbelievers ) to realize that there were many people who could testify to the reality of Christ.

Second, he is saying that there are some people in the audience who were not in the fellowship with Christ. (
just like we do now in all churches....there are both types of people )

"This is the message we ( believers ) have heard from Him and declare to you ( unbelievers ): God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all" (verse 5).

John's message in this verse is clear: God is light and in Him there is no darkness. We are either in the light (saved) or in darkness (lost). Scriptures are full of this comparison between light (saved) vs. darkness (lost).

"If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth." (verse 6).

In other words, if someone says he has fellowship with Christ, but is walking in darkness (lost), he is lying and not practicing the truth. The Gnostics ( not true believers ) claimed to be in fellowship with Christ (saved), and yet were actually living a lie and therefore weren't practicing the truth.

"If we( believers )
walk in the light, as He is in the light, we ( believers ) have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us ( believers ) from all sin" (verse 7).

In other words, if we walk in the light (are saved) we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin. To put it another way, once we are saved, we are permanently in the fellowship because the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin.

Therefore, we aren't forgiven because we confess our sins. We are forgiven because of what Christ did for us on the cross.

"If we( John putting all of us in the same boat before coming to Christ ) claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" (verse 8).

John is now addressing the belief the Gnostics had regarding sin because they didn't believe it was real and therefore believed they had no sin. The "we" John is using here refers to all people before coming to Christ including all believers too which "we" had to acknowledge at some point in our lives.

He is referring specifically to the Gnostics, who believed they were without sin. Because they claimed to be without sin, then they were only deceiving themselves and the truth (Jesus) was not in them.

However, verse 9 says that "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

In other words, if the Gnostics were to confess they had sins, then God, Who is faithful and righteous, would forgive and cleanse them from their unrighteousness.

In the Greek language, the words "forgive" and "cleanse" mean past actions that have results today and will continue to have results in the future. Also, the word "all" used in these verses means all. It doesn't mean that we are cleansed of our past sins and our past unrighteousness, it means we were cleansed of all our unrighteousness. And if God cleanses us from all unrighteousness, then we are cleansed forever!

"If we claim we ( all of us were in this boat at one time ) have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives" (verse 10).

Basically this verse is a repeat of verse 8. To put it simply, it means that the Gnostics can't claim to be without sin and yet be saved. John is saying that because the Gnostics claimed they had no sin, they were actually calling God a liar and therefore didn't know the truth.

The purpose of the first chapter of 1 John was to compare the truth of God to the error of gnosticism. John was addressing the Gnostics, who were deceived by their own teaching. He wanted the Gnostics to understand that what they believed conflicted with what God said. He was not, however, addressing believers.

However we can all learn from all scriptures including 1 John 1 - I especially love the truth of verse 7 - the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin because we are in Him.

You must be one of those false grace teachers who are the end time deceivers.
Every time the Bible proves you wrong, you say it's not for the Christians.
Just like you say 1 Jn 1: 9, isn't for the Christians.
The false grace teachers are truly inspired by the devil.

You cannot believe 1 Jn 1: 7 is for the Christians, and
1 Jn 1: 9, isn't

1 Jn 1: 9, isn't

You false grace teachers pick and choose what you want to believe.
On the contrary 1 John 1:9 was for us before we became a Christian and Jesus' blood washed us clean! We do not go in and out of righteousness because someone sins - righteousness is based completely on what Jesus did for us and He made us righteous.

In the theory that we lose righteousness when we sin - what happens if you get in a fight with your wife tonight and then fall asleep and then die...you have no righteousness in this theory and you would go to hell.

No. the scriptures are clear - Christ ahs become to us from God, righteousness and holiness. He has done it all - we are just walking out who we are in Christ as we get our minds renewed to the truth.

I realize this conflicts with our religious beliefs that we were taught but when we see the beauty of our Lord's finished work - we walk in freedom and sin doesn't have dominion over us.

There is a great thread that talks about 1 John1:9 and it will help you to understand the new creation in Christ better. Just click the link below to view it. It may conflict with our religious traditions but in the end knowing the truth sets us free and our love for the Lord grows dramatically.

That is a good thread as both sides of the discussion chime in with what they believe.

I know when I first heard it - I thought it was heresy too because it "conflicted" with my religious beliefs that I was taught in church but the Lord circumvented the one that I first heard it from and through various teachers in the body of Christ - He showed me the truth of it. Now, I can't believe I didn't see that before. What a glorious salvation and gospel we have in Jesus!
