Diets are not enjoyable. At all.

Being fat sucks.

Well, both plants use the same chemical for the "spice" aspect.

Yeah, I noticed that first time I tried it. I eat with my mouth closed... usually. I learned real quick not to breathe through my nose when I'm eating wasabi. That stuff lit my world up...

Kinda reminded me of when I was trying to do a quiet soda burp. Just ain't worth it.
I can't remember whether you inhale through your nose as you start chewing and exhale through your mouth before you swallow, or vice versa...

But I do remember that there are terrible consequences for getting it wrong.

I think it's more of a mental thing for some... Working out at the gym... Or at least going for walks early in the morning or late in the evening seems to help my friends lose weight. Some times diets aren't for everyone...

Try going for walks, or going to the gym.. Or even eat healthier things... There are other ways other than just a flat diet to lose weight...

just a suggestion :)

what helped me lose weight was to increase my water in-take. i did use the treadmill a lot last year, but as of recently, nope. lol

also, i had a problem eating too much fast food. for a time, i stopped eating it all together. now, i have it maybe once a week.

i stopped drinking soda.

I'm doing all the right things. I'm exercising more. I'm eating smaller portions. I'm eating more fruits and vegetables. I drink skim milk instead of whole, margarine instead of butter, low salt, a gallon of water drunk every day.

It still sucks. I'd gladly get in a street fight with a big dude for a double quarter pounder with cheese right now though.

Try intuitive eating. Eat whatever you want whenever you want, but listen to your body. Do not eat if you are full. This is what I've been doing and it works! It's so much better than dieting and counting calories.

That's about right. Exhaling through the nose is a very, very bad idea.

I love burgers, greasy cheese burgers with onions, but I had weight loss surgery in 2014, so grease really makes me physically ill, anyhow I know it's not really truly the same but I use lean turkey and make a burger with that sometimes. I eat it without the bun. It helps when I really want a hamburger.

I had just gotten kind of lazy the past few years since I had to move in with and start caring for my Dad full time. I can't get to the gym as I'd like, so what little I can work out must be done here at the house. Add to that, the long, long hours spent in front of a computer working on school work as I finish up my graduate degree, and then add 40# to all of that from quitting smoking back in 2012, and it's no wonder I've packed on a bunch of extra weight. It came on slow, so it'll have to go slow.

I wish it was as easy to lose as it is to gain. I gained some weight after having my 2 children a year apart, but in 2012 I broke my ankle and gained a lot then. I don't like gyms, I walk at home and swim at home or at one of our high school's that has a pool.

I lost a lot of weight four years ago, and then more through restricting my calories in the last two years. Calorie counting is the way to go, for me. I've stopped counting the last few months and have continued to stay under my goal weight, which makes me happy. :D

If you don't mind sharing, how many calories were you having? I tried counting but I think I went too low and it got me really anxious and tired. I was eating about 1,200.

I was also eating 1200. But all our needs are different. You may have been burning a lot more than me during a normal day. You will lose weight anytime you burn more than you eat, so you could try 1500 a day and see if that helps.

For me, having so few cals to work with made me VERY picky about what I ate. It had to really be worth it. So I automatically started eating healthier, paying attention to things like condiments and such that we normally don't even think about, and choosing higher protein foods. I felt like I was starving to death until I began eating more protein. It keeps you full for longer.

I am at the point now where I don't need to watch what I eat so carefully (I'm eating normally) and just weighing myself every few days. If it looks like I've definitely gone above my goal range, I will start counting again for a few weeks until I'm back below my goal consistently. I've needed to do that once, I believe it was after the holidays , and it worked like a charm.

I feel so much more confident knowing that if I do gain a bit, all I have to do is restrict for a few weeks and I'm back on track. I'm no longer under this huge fear that I'll regain all my weight back. Very freeing and encouraging!

I dropped 55 pounds last year in about six months. You gotta have that mix of healthier eating and exercise. A lot of people give up because they want results in 2-3 weeks but it just doesn't work that way; or they'll see some decent results, think they've done enough and go right back into unhealthy habits and put the weight back on.

It's better to make it a lifestyle change and find a routine that you can keep doing long-term(long-term routine = long-term results). Then you get to a place where, like Grace said, you can eat normally and still live a healthy lifestyle. Like with many things, with dedication and patience the results will come.
