You can't stop me can you? I have the liberty of Christ, and you have no authority over me despite your pathetic attempts to silence me. And you are free to live as sinful a life as you choose, with the full knowledge that there is not one single Scripture to support your position. You know that because I have the freedom to share Biblical truths with you whether you decide to take it to heart, or not, since you are so bent to do what you want regardless.
Pssst, that was FS, not Watcher. (I know. They're quite alike in the depth of their not-listening, but they're also quite different.)

Something is strange. Watcher2013 shows up out of nowhere in almost a year's time to post a controversial question... of which he evidently is already convinced he knows the answer. So it doesn't take a scholar to figure out the op is just to stir up a debate, something we are told in the Word not to do:

Titus 3:9
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

He also has posted nothing but controversial posts in past times, asking questions to coax members to respond in order that he may contradict them with his own interpretation.

In this instance, we read in I Timothy 3 that in order to hold a leadership or teaching position in the church, a man must be "blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach..."

It's pretty clear, if you want to teach, you should have one spouse. I'm sure the Holy Spirit knows best how we should conduct our lives as witnesses unto the world.

Also, it seems Watcher2013 is looking for loopholes to justify having more than one wife. I see in his profile he is married. Perhaps he should ask his wife what she thinks about it.
I used to do that too! Looking in the bible for something to justify what horrible things I've done. It's not there as far as I know. (I haven't read the whole bible yet) But I got the feeling searching would be in vain. I think everyone would love to hear God say "Go ahead do it!" But that's more like something the devil would say.

Let me see if I got this right. YOU started a post because YOU wanted to know if there is a commandment against polygamy. Magenta answered YOU. But now I'M supposed to put in the effort to backtrack YOUR thread to look for it for YOU?

Sure, I'll do the work for you. Last time I worked, I got $30 an hour. I'll do you a favor and charge you the same price decades later. Want to use PayPal to pay me? Because I don't know you, I accept the money up front. $30 will cover it. If it takes me less than an hour, I'll give you some back.
As far as I recall she posted abouit deut. But I have responded already on that verse. So I cant recall which one you are talking about.
so the cost to find it if you still want my response is on you... thats €30.

I'm just amazed that this topic has garnered 15 pages of traction. One hits one's head on one's desk... repeatedly.

I agree. Ladies your many words won't help here either. Lesson, when a man refuses to yield to God's word, don't keep company with him. That's how you end up married to him.

Tell that to the patriarch. Almost all of them have multiple wives,
Abraham,
Jacob,
David
Solomon

and God didnt call them perverse or twisted but instead G od loved them
Are you kidding me? God certainly didn't endorse such pagan ancient Near Eastern practices. And having more than one wife did nothing good for the family lives of these men of God.

You gave a verse in deut about not multiplying wives to suppirt your view. But you have taken it out of context.
The reason being is tjat there is a chance that the heart of the king might turn away to the true God.
That is why the question is direct. If u can find verse the in the law that having many wives is a sin.it would be good to share rather than bashing and stating ur self righteous opinion.
Are you a Moron or something?
Sorry, I mean Mormon.
Don't listen to Moroni, he was a moron.

I can't wait until someone asserts their right to multiple wives at the Supreme Court.

It's probably being negotiated right now. And we're just figuring it out.

I want to know how it works. If I have more than one wife, do each get their own bedroom, or do I get a really big bed?

Anyone who wants more than one wife is a perverted, male chauvinist pig and doesn't deserve even one woman.Anyone who has this desire is a sick puppy.

Jack, I thought I smelt your foul stench.
TinTin, okay. You're driving me nuts now. (I know, can't drive someone to where they already are.) I keep learning about who Jack is one comment at a time and about once every 3-6 months. (I'm sure you say it more often, but it's not like I read every thread on here.) So, this is what I have so far on Jack.

1. He doesn't play the devil's advocate. He IS the devil's advocate. No playing involved.

2. He tends to quote scripture that has absolutely nothing to do with the subject at hand, but fires it off as if it's a beam from the Death Star and he hit the target directly... all the while the rest of us are scratching our heads trying to figure out if he even has a weapon to fire with a big, humongous HUH? trying to figure out "what in the world" and "what does that even mean?"

3. He has this thing where he likes to tell women to be silent.

That's it. That's all I remember. So, can we do something useful here and have you teach us all the signs you have for Jack? Having graciously been given a gift from by God missing him back when he really called himself Jack decidedly puts me at a disadvantage for recognizing him in his Lon Chaney act.
