I'm not quite sure what you mean. Maria Montessori was a Roman Catholic I do know that. It's not a Chrisitian school so I don't really tie the two together. I like the method's of teaching. I have no problem with Christian schools, I work for a Christian Pre-School but I feel that this method is better than the traditional class room that I grew up in. I've never thought about her philosophy and our faith.
Sorry. I was confusing Montessori with another non-traditional body of education. The name escapes me at the moment, but it begins with a W.

That's okay, are you thinking of Wiccan? But I don't know if they have any kind of education programs.

She's responsive and seems to have use of both sides of her body, although one side is definitely weaker than the other (eyelid and mouth drooping slightly on one side, one arm weaker than the other).

They're waiting until tomorrow to bring her completely out of anesthesia. She has a low-grade fever (normal after major surgery), but the seizures seem to have stopped, and the tumor and problematic blood vessel cluster has been removed.

Thank you all for your prayers. Continued prayers for the family would be appreciated.

Whoa. No, no. Wiccan are overtly non-Christian. I looked it up. I was thinking of Steiner/Waldorf schools.

I really like their school and I'm very happy that we decided to send them there. They love school, they learn so much and it's very much a community. I think the methods of teaching are wonderful. I highly reccomend Montessori education.

We just completed Aboriginal week at school. I based it all around "The Lost Girl" (gorgeous book used for articulating characters, settings, complications, resolutions).
For a visual display for inspiration I put out didgeridoos, paintings and explored mother nature as a prime communicator for guiding us when we're lost, without the use of words and what we can anticipate is ahead of us: i.e: the weather. I just adore teaching students literacy, it's the one of the powerful skills to develop within a student to equip them for life.

I looked up my name on pipl.com (after having deleted most of my online presence) to check if I still have info on there. And holy nuts, my education and career history is even there. Ugh. Even my physical address is there. Gosh, the internet is scary. Wish I was smarter when I was younger. It's such a hassle.
Molly quickly goes to pipl.com and cyberstalks some crushes.

pipl.com is kind of creepy. Thankfully my info there is so far out of date it is no longer valid.

Don't blame yourself, Abi. Even my info showed up when I did a search on a couple of those sites and I've always been super careful with my personal info.
Strange. I've never been able to find me online. I've searched by full name, state, county and town of residence, etc...

Apparently I don't exist. :p But my SSN works for the things that require it, so whatever.

You are lucky. I have no idea how they get people's info. Probably the NSA :p

I was the same way until recent years. The only info could find on me was that I was connected to my mom and siblings.
Now, there's a bit more out there.

Shine, I have a question about school related stuff. At the preschool where I work, the parents walk the kid's to the classroom on the first day. We do have three year old classes but the upstairs the kid's are preschool and pre k. This isn't just a one day thing, the director opens the door and lets everyone in. In January they ask to start dropping the kid's at the front door and letting them find the classroom on their own. After the first day, the hallway get's chaotic. I personally think we need to cut the cord. Just let them walk in, we can even wait and walk them up. My kid's preschool I dropped them off at the door and the teachers and their classmates were there and they'd wait until 9:20 and take the kid's up.

Kindergarten my kid's wanted to take the bus, okay. Their school you drop them off at the door and drive off. There's a person there directing traffic and two others, one for Kindergarten kid's and another for older grades. No going to the class room, no spending excess amount of time seeing them off. My morning routine, drive them. Person opens door. By guy's have a good day I love you, them, grunt blah blah. Whatever, just go.

I just suggested we cut the cord and let them in. It might help with the chaos. I got, oh no, we can't do that. What do you think? Am I being unreasonable thinking it might be better for the child to give them that bit of independence?
Depending on their age, I think it is a good idea for them to walk to class by themselves. School sometimes have these policies of a child not being alone in the hallway due to safety reasons, which I can also understand. (They can run off, leave school, etc etc). However, that barely ever happens. I don't think you are being unreasonable for wanting to "cut the cord." I am currently trying to teach my students independence already because I believe it is important at their age.

That sounds wonderful. I would love teaching that too.

I understand the first day for such little kids, but then again, my Children's Pre-School teachers met them the class at the door and walked everyone up. I thought that was a great idea. It was very welcoming and their class mates were there and they could sit with them, it was nice. I honestly think it might help with the amount of tears. Of course you're going to have kid's that cry and we handle that very gently. Last year we had a mess, poor girl was crying, the Mother wouldn't leave. So then 3 other kid's started to cry. The Teacher was telling the Mom that it was fine, she'd be okay and it was best if she'd go. So she went into another room and waited and about every five minutes the Director had to check on her for the Mom, ugh. After meeting the parent's the other night I don't think we'll have that issue this year. I hope not.

You know you're tired when you try to unlock your car by scanning your gym security key.

I miss the Office. I know the last couple of seasons weren't all that great, but I loved that show. Dwight was my favorite. I loved when Jim put all of his office supplies in Jello as a prank.

Last night I searched myself. My phone number wasn't valid but my current address was. That creeped me out. I don't know if there's anything you can do about it.

I tried to do something about it. It's a very tedious process. Some 7 years ago, I started buying domains for blogs and I had no idea about domain privacy then. So my domain whois lists almost all of my important information. What's worse is that I used my parents' address. So their info is out there too. Ugh.

I went through all my social media accounts sometime last year, and deleted all the useless ones (took forever, btw), set everything else that's left, as private. STILL, my updated info is leaking out to interwebs. Ugh. Seriously. Oh well. A name change is pretty expensive so we'll prolly just have to shrug it off for now.

I found this on CC and thought it was funny sort of....under a user name....it listed fake persona-banned in another thread...lol we're getting descriptive for trolls now!....

Fake persona - Banned

The next person we ban should have something like "idiotic posting - banned" or something like that lol for trolls who post stupid things to cause strife....

Under normal circumstances the reason for a person being banned is considered to be between the site and the banned user. Occasionally we choose to manually override the "Banned" user title and publicly show a ban reason usually in the case of catfishing.
