Can anyone explain to me why, in the Electoral College, each state, no matter the size, does not have the same number of votes to be cast?
As it now stands, the candidates can effectively ignore the lesser populated states, concentrating only on those with a high Electoral count, and win by securing a relatively small number of states for their side.
It flabbergasts me that a state like mine (Florida) with 29 Electoral votes can be won by only 51%, and then the candidate has ALL 29 VOTES cast for only them..... even though almost half of the people in this state wanted the other candidate.
We use the "popular vote" for every other office... Why not for the president, too?
