That's a grand prix? I could've sworn that was a 5 series bmw.:eek::rolleyes: Thanks for the compliment, but my car's just a tiny little toy. I can barely fit a case of water in the trunk. :p

Yea they called it the G8 which stood for 8th generation grand prix and it was meant to compete with bmw's, lexus and the like of top luxury performance buyers but the year they released it GM had financial woes so it only lasted for the 08-09 yrs and then was put on the shelf.....The cool thing is it's an Australian Holden Commodore-GM import so they still made them but only released it in the US around 2011 as a Chevy Caprice PPV -Police patrol vehicle....so you can only get it if you know police vehicle resellers or a dealer willing to sell you one brand new as a "detective unit" w/o all the lights/ram bars/police equipment stuff....

I like the car b/c of its built on the GM zeta platform which was used on the Camaro and gives tight suspension for cornering....

This chevy caprice is built on the same platform but extended a few inches longer than the g8 (basically the same car though overall).....they say to be cautious buying police cars b/c some of them see a lot of idle time and abuse which can shorten the life of the car/engine but the police car engines are tuned well for performance along with stiffer suspension than regular cars....so you can really have responsive handling in these cars...compared to civilian ones...

BTW post some pics of your modding/painting it looked cool with the air spray gun...( I don't have the patience/steady hand to do that lol even for can spray paint ;)

Oh yes! I've often thought about getting a used cop car! :D They are fast and nimble haha and they look very comfortable too. And the best thing about it is that other cars will think its an unmarked cop car so they won't cut you off or anything :D

Thanks! I didn't video myself painting..too self-conscious. I actually developed good painting skills in art school where we learned how to airbrush. Spray painting is just like airbrushing. Here are some pics:

This is after scuffing the whole area and sanding the parts that got bondoed. It's ready for paint at this point.

Here's a blurry pic I took during the painting process.
IMG_1274.jpg

This is right after it was painted. Note how its has a matte rubber-like appearance. That's how auto paint looks before clearcoat is sprayed over it. In my case I just polished it out instead of clearcoating because clearcoat can turn white down the road then you have to repaint.
IMG_1276.jpg

This shows the paint mismatch. You can see it clearly where the door meets the front fender. I had to spray a blend on the fender to fix that. (A blend means painting a fade from one side towards the other so there's no distinct edge to the color).
IMG_1279.jpg

This is after I blended the fender. It came out really well. You can't tell that it gets darker towards the headlight. I'm so proud of me! :D

@Zero: The final product is looking pretty sharp, sir.

@Everyone: Do you ever get suddenly taken over by sadness?

Thank you :) Due to my age and the incompetence of several doctors who failed to properly diagnose me, I may suffer the after-effects of shingles related nerve pain and damage for a year or more :p

Postherpetic neuralgia is one of the more serious after effects of shingles. This condition causes the nerves that have been damaged by the virus to continue to send pain signals to the person’s brain even after the rash and blisters caused by shingles have gone away. The damaged nerve fibers will also cause the person’s skin to be extremely sensitive to light, touch and temperature.

That is not me, but close to what I look like right now :p:(
Oh dear.:(That must be awful.

They might have been too big. I resized them. Here they is... :)

Right after painting (auto paint is matte finish until its clearcoated or polished to a gloss)

Mismatched paint, look where door meets front fender
smlIMG_1279.jpg

Final results after painting a blend on the fender (and clearcoating the fender - because I had to or else the faded part of the blend can rub off during polishing)

Ya know...

it's really confusing when you live in one place but the little itty bitty flag by your nick is from another place. I get why it happens but it's really hard for me to keep it all straight. :) So, grace please, for any confusion on my part.
