Amen...the truth is that we are already dead - we died when Jesus died on the cross and now have been made alive to God. We should be focusing on the life that is in us in Christ now. We are a new creation and we are totally dependent on Christ as Jesus was dependent on the Father for everything.
Colossians 3:2-3 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
[SUP]3[/SUP] For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Reading the above you would believe G7 is totally dependant on God.
He is not and neither are we.
Paul is saying our old man and its lusts have died to us, are not important, are not things
we follow, but love through Christs example.
Setting your mind on things above is setting your mind on how to serve others, how
to express love and praise to God, and how to share His word.
The language of dependency is like saying we do not need to eat, or sleep just prayer
and praise. But this is not true.
It is the kind of exaguration that sounds good and spiritual, but that is all it is, sounds
good but is empty without the context and caviates, which once added make it different.
We are part of the vine, we abide in Christ and His life flows through us.
Now the ultimate source of all we have is the Father, but that is true for everyone.
Now our spiritual life, and communion, our joy, our hope, our praise are totally dependant
on the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Now this is the reality.
