But when the bible says that "Adam knew his wife", I always took that to mean they had sexual relations. So that's different from, say for example, God knowing you before you were born and whispering in your mother's ear to name you Bruce. LOL
-- Knew her moods.
-- Knew her as a person.
-- Knew her likes and dislikes.
-- Knew what made her happy, and what got him kicked into the dog house.
-- Knew her physically and intimately.
It's that marriage/family kind of know. Other than physically, it's that same know we have with our brothers, sisters, parents and BBFs, (if we have BBFs.)
There was this Christian philosopher named Francis Schaeffer who opened up his home for long discourse in philosophical stuff about God. They would have long sessions of debate all evening, every evening and even longer on Saturday. Whoever wanted to come, just came. But the debates were make-my-head-hurt-from-thinking-too-much affairs constantly.
And then there was this young married couple in the back who kept talking to each other apart from the rest of the conversation. And they kept this up for a few weeks, before Schaeffer pulled them aside and asked what they were talking about.
"We're just trying to get to know each other."
Schaeffer told them, "You can talk to each other from morning to night for the rest of your life and you will still never fully know each other."
It shut them up in a good way. (It's what they needed to hear right then.)
We humans try to know someone and we will never be able to completely know anyone. BUT when God knows you, he has always "knowed" you.
His information is complete. We tend to keep trying to get there. lol
I don't think it's a bad thing to try to get to know someone completely, but God knows so much more than we will ever know.
