Yeah, that's kinda like people that support gay marriage claim it's all good with the Lord because He never specifically mentioned gay peoples. When Jesus says marriage is between one man and one woman... He means exactly that!
He does not have to mention gay marriage, marriage with animals or inanimate objects or multiple partner marriages, etc,etc because He has given the DEFINITION of what marriage is.
We were not discussing gay marriage and the Bible is clear that marriage is between one man and one woman.
Bottom line according to Jesus is... those IN HIM that do not bare fruit are taken away. They bore a certain meansure of fruit be getting born again which is the only way one cane be IN HIM so they did bare some fruit
Bears no fruit/self-attached to the vine IS NOT in the body of Christ, as you assume that IN ME means. Christ was not even glorified yet when He spoke these words and believers had not yet received the Holy Spirit (John 7:38-39) so "in me" is part of the metaphor of the vine, (in the vine) and
not in the body of Christ under the New Covenant which was not yet fully established. In John 15, we see
two kinds of connections with Christ as the vine (the merely cosmic which bears no fruit and the spiritual and vital which bears fruit).
If Jesus had wanted to teach that there were true and false believers associated with Him, and if He wanted to use the analogy of a vine and branches, then the only way He could refer to people who do not have genuine life in themselves would be to speak of branches that bear no fruit (somewhat after the analogy of the seeds that fell on rocky ground and had "no root" in themselves" and produced no fruit Mark 4:17). Here in John 15 the branches that
do not bear fruit, though they are in some way connected to Jesus and give an outward appearance of being genuine branches, nonetheless give indication of their true state by the fact they
bear no fruit. This is similarly indicated by the fact that the person "does not abide" in Christ (John 15:6) and is cast off as a branch and withers. If we try to press the analogy any further, by saying, for example, that all branches on a vine really are alive or they would not be there in the first place, then we are simply trying to press the imagery beyond what it is able to teach--and in that case there would be nothing in the analogy that could represent false believers in any case. The point of the imagery is simply that those who bear fruit thereby give evidence that they are abiding in Christ; those who do not, are not abiding in Him.
Now, go read Romans 1 where the Lord speaks of those that decided to not retain the knowledge of God and were turned over to a reprobate mind meaning the Lord let them turn away from them because the Lord is the One who gave them free will therefore He must let people walk away if they want to.
Starting in verse 18 - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness...they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. (That is not descriptive of believers and it reminds me of John 3:19 - And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil). These unbelievers worship and serve the creation rather than the Creator. Nothing is mentioned in Romans chapter 1 about these unbelievers previously being saved and then losing their salvation.
Did'cha notice Jesus said those that DO the will of the Father enter in???
Salvation by works is not the will of the Father. *Did you notice in John 6:40 - For my Father’s
will is that
everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
This is totally different from today's false grace teachers who claim we don't need to DO anything.
Salvation by grace through faith, not works (Ephesians 2:8,9) is totally different from today's works based false gospel teachers who claim that we must DO something to help Christ save us, as if Christ is an IN-sufficient Savior.
The purpose of man's existence is to allow the Father to live in them and walk in them so He cane be our God and we His people (2 Corinthians 6:16)... this denotes walking in agreement with Him
Which only genuine believers allow and not unbelievers.
There are those that get born again... and later they allow satan's devices to enter in and choke God's Word and they become unfruitful (Mark 4:13-20)... notice Jesus speak of those receiving God's Word and then later becomig unfruitful???
Who said the thorny ground hearers were born again? In regards to the thorny soil, the word was
choked out before reaching it's desired goal, making it [unfruitful]. The word is choked and therefore does not produce a renewed spiritual life in the person; "the anxieties of the age and the pleasures of wealth chokes the message. The worries of life and the delusions of wealth have the effect of stifling the word/gospel, such that the person
does not bear the fruit of salvation. Neither the stony ground hearer or the thorny ground hearer were fruitful. Put a
stop to the growth of the word and it
gives no fruit (Bible in Basic English). The potential to eventually become established and produce fruit was there, but the word was
choked out before reaching it's desired goal. It (the seed, the word)
became unfruitful (produces nothing, proves unfruitful, does not produce fruit, yields nothing), because the growth of the word was
choked. In the Complete Jewish Bible we read, Now the seed sown among thorns stands for someone who hears the message, but it is choked by the worries of the world and the deceitful glamor of wealth, so that it
produces nothing. *Nothing amounts to nothing and nothing was mentioned about it ever producing something. Faith without works is dead.
In
CONTRAST, we read in Matthew 13:23 - "And the one on whom seed was sown on the
good soil, this is the man who
hears the word and understands it; who
INDEED BEARS FRUIT and brings forth,
some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." *Only the 4th soil produced crops of any size.* I suppose the question still remains, "can this forth soil eventually become fruitless?" I have to conclude that if this were possible, why didn't Christ include such a scenario before concluding? There is mention of a difference in the size of the crops, but no consequences or warnings are given to the lesser producers.
Only the 4th soil was referred to as "good ground" and produced a crop (fruit) and there is NO MENTION OF CHOKING OR WITHERING THEREAFTER.
I know it's hard on you OSAS people, but you really do need to accept the whole counsel of God lest you be found to be a false brethren just like yo favorites TV preachers that you fellaz be making idols out of.
I do accept the whole counsel of God and
NOWHERE does the Bible specifically say that a really "saved" person really "lost their salvation." I find it ironic to hear you accuse me of being a false brethren.
I'm never said he did... I'm saying the faith the God accepts ALWAYS produces good works. The result of genuine faith is producing good works, or fruit.
That is the whole point of James chapter 2 and not that we are saved by works.
But, but... er... ah... you OSAS people claim all one must do is confess Jesus as Lord and they are saved whether they live for the Lord (walking after the Spirit), or in the world (walking after the flesh)
Romans 10:9 says if we confess with out mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead we will be saved. Is that not hard enough for you? Romans 8:4 - Believers walk according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh. Romans 8:8 - So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But
you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. *You confuse descriptive passages of scripture with prescriptive passages of scripture.
You people are cherry pickers! You should put a Cherry Picker Sticker on yo car!
It's you who cherry picks and ignores the CONTEXT.
Speaking of He was never allowed to be intimate with them as in they did not allow the Lord to live in them (see 2 Corinthians 6:16, and Romans 8)
Either we are saved and have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ or not.
Boy, you sho nuff gonna hate what Jesus said here:
Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Overcome = walking in the Spirit, not after the flesh
Now, based on what Jesus said we know it's possible to be blotted out of the book of life... and yet ou OSAS peoples wanna talk like Jesus is a liar. That's not gonna end well for you homeboyz
Why would I hate it? The "overcomer" mentioned in this letter to Sardis is the
Christian. Compare this with 1 John 5:4: "Everyone who is born of God
overcomes the world. And
this is the victory that has overcome the world--OUR FAITH.
*All genuine believers are "overcomers!" Praise God!
Some people see in Revelation 3:5 the picture of God’s pen poised, ready to strike out the name of any Christian who sins. They read into it like this: "If you mess up and don’t win the victory, then you’re going to lose your salvation! In fact, I will erase your name from the Book of Life!"
*But that is NOT what the verse says. Jesus is giving a promise here, not a warning.
Walking in the Spirit, not after the flesh is
descriptive of those who have overcome through faith. You have this backwards.
One of the signs of the end times is the precense of false prophets & teachers who deny... contridict... the Lord Jesus Christ. Those that drink dat OSAS koolaid are those people.
2 Peter 2:1
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction (corruption, blindness)
You just condemned all who teach OSAS. You are not qualified to make that judgment call. 2 Peter 2:1 mentions nothing about OSAS (preservation of the saints) being a heresy. Psalm 37:28 - For the Lord loves justice, And
does not forsake His saints; They are
preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. You call that heresy? What you teach on the other hand is questionable:
In post #254 of the Martin Luther Invented the "Imputed Righteousness of Christ" Doctrine thread, you said -
No one is going to be judged righteosu because of what Jesus did or His righteousness, ye will all be judged by your works done in faith ...righteousness is an individual thing, and so is sin, neither can be transferred or proxied...again; Jesus is our pattern of righteousness, our Holy example to follow after....
IN CONTRAST, we read:
Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly,
his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom
God imputes righteousness apart from works:
2 Corinthians 5:21 - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the r
ighteousness of God in Him.
Philippians 3:9 - and be found in Him,
not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which is from God by faith.
Through our faith in Christ, the righteousness of God is given to us. This is called "imputed" righteousness. To impute something is to ascribe or attribute something to someone. Those who trust in "performance based works salvation" hate the truth of imputed righteousness!
