has any body heard of this movement yet?

I came across it while browsing youtube one day. If you search for MGTOW on youtube you will find it.
However, be cautioned that you may encounter some disrespectful language toward women including one video I watched where the narrator called a woman the "c" word. But watching these videos you have to mine out the good points from the rest of the "fluff" for lack of a better word.

MGTOW stands for men going their own way - it describes men who have given up dating and marriage because of the hazards associated with dating and marriage. I imagine some men have experience with women who are not dating material and I don't assume every women is that day and neither should anyone assume every man is that way. I talk to single women at work and they from their experiences you could say dating is a "minefield out there." But one particular point made in a video was that men can get with some women and if they want to leave the men they can get half of what the guy wants. This can mean the guy should be decent if he doesn't want to lose half his stuff but also can mean that there can be women out there who see $$$ and never intend to make the marriage work.

I think it is a cop out. Ostensibly, they don't want to get married because they MAY get divorced and if they get divorced, their ex wives could get half of their belongings.

Really, it is an excuse to play the field and not seem to be committment phobes.

If a man wants to not settle down, why not just say that- be upfront? Just say "I am not interested in marriage or dating. I just want a string of meaningless encounters."

They probably would not say "a string of meaningless encounters" but it would amount to the same thing, no matter what semantics they chose.

If I were a guy, I would not date a woman I thought was likely to divorce me. I'd only date a woman I had trust in staying true.

I guess I would say, if they were dating 'good girls' they wouldn't have to worry about being taken to the cleaners.

I came across MGTOW a couple of years back while YouTubing about manipulation. I've watched many of the videos, and as you say, one needs to pick through the fluff and, in some cases, vulgarity to get the value.

A few things I've gleaned (and would note up front that this is not a Christian movement by any means!):

- Many women see a relationship as an opportunity to gain assets and prestige without earning them.
- Many women make the assumption that men should pay for dates, gifts, and other things... and rarely if ever offer to pay and even get offended if the man suggests that they pay their share.
- North American and British (and perhaps Australian) legal systems heavily favour females in any family court proceeding. This means that the default position for asset division is 50% at least to the woman in a split, regardless of who brought what into the marriage. Women's emotional outbursts are given far more power than is rational.
- Child custody is overwhelmingly given to females, and men are usually stuck with paying child support, whether or not they are permitted (word chosen carefully!) to see their children. In the States, inability to pay is no defense, and the impoverished father can be imprisoned.
- Women's accusations of violence, especially sexual violence, are taken as true, period. Men usually get little to no opportunity to defend against them, and are instantly blacklisted in their community regardless of the truth.

These are observations of secular women and culture, not of Christian women. And for any who thing I support or endorse these views, take a step back and recognize I am only sharing what MGTOW promoters hold. Generally, I've found that the MGTOW message is inconsistent with Christianity, because it promotes either a lifestyle of "hooking up" with no commitment, or of avoiding women completely, for reasons other than for the kingdom of God. It also seems to be built on the worst behaviour of some women rather than the consistent behaviour of most women. Plus, it holds both men and women at a level far below "image of God" status.

Despite its flaws, I think it has some value in making men aware of their own willingness to suffer verbal, financial and emotional abuse for the sake of affection, and to call out the culture on some unbalanced relational behaviours.

MGTOW has several areas of overlap with the Men's Rights movement, but it is important to distinguish the two.

I've been an active member of a forums that focuses on the MGTOW movement.

It really can't be classified as a "movement" because it doesn't, and can't, do anything to change things. For the most part, it's a title that men who have been emotionally and financially raped in court by their wives can claim and find fellowship with others who have had the same or similar experiences. For a lot of men, we never, not once in a million years, thought we'd be on the receiving end of what we got from our "loving spouses", and for many of us, it was a hit from the blindside. Not only did it take a toll on our emotions and our finances, but our self-esteem took a major hit too. All that damage takes time to recover from. Really, all MGTOW is, is a way for men to be able to support each other, and the choices of eschewing women all together or becoming misogynists is a very minuscule part of the "movement".

Cliff's Notes version: Nothing to worry about. It's just a support group. Pay it no mind. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

i dont know much about the forums

i just know about the youtube community

and in there

its nothing but a bunch of people who have been seriously hurt
and because of it

they turn to a path of venegance and lying and eye for an eye mentality

definitely not 1 mgtow channel i have seen that isnt based on hate (not awareness but hate)on youtube
maybe its different on the forums

but a quick test shows the fruit of what ive seen
... far from any kind of support a christian should accept
(sand man, alex lekins, angry mgtow, howard dare ... ect ect could list 10 more far from a minuscule group of followers)

also speak against God on many occasions

Some topics are land mines in this forum. Unfortunately if you don't know the people here, and the triggers that set them off, you will never know a topic is a land mine until you start it and it explodes in your face.

On the other hand... the OP has been here roughly 4.5 years and only made 18 posts. I'm beginning to wonder what the motive was for starting this thread.

This could be fun!

Yeah, the guy is hardly prolific in writing posts and for some reason picks this topic to chime in. I have never heard of this guy until now. Seeing how he has been a ghost since he's joined there probably will not be any heated back and forth discussion. I'm going to pass on watching the video as the topic seems like it's probably boring without any redeeming value.

To me, it's like feminism for men. Eventually, those men will end up alone and depressed for having spent their entire youth (the years you can have babies) hating the opposite gender...just like feminists. :p In other words, it's poison, toxic and completely useless. Follow God...don't go your own way.

We are at the point in time that the Bible says, children will not obey their parents, they will be highly selfish, highly arrogant, without natural affection, aggressive towards each other, will devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men, promise breakers, traitors, boasters, covetous, proud, men shall be lovers of their own selves,(not homosexual but will think highly of themselves in comparison to other people),unthankful, unholy, and many hypocrites that do not allow the Spirit to lead them, and are ever learning and never able to come to the truth, and are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.

Jesus said, since iniquity shall abound the love of many shall wax cold, and Paul said, evil men shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Which I point that out because it is no wonder that people are separating more, not only talking marriage, but people in general, and wanting to exalt themselves above each other, where it affects the youth wanting to rebel against parents, women and men disgusted with each other, for we live in a highly selfish, and arrogant, and self exalting time,as compared to the past.

The 1960's counterculture movement, rebelling against authority,do your own thing,be your own boss, have your own way,and the country started to separate from each other instead of come together, for it was a selfish movement, for everybody wants peace for their own kind, but with their selfishness behind it,eventually they too separated from each other.

Technology, advanced travel, businesses being able to reach a wider area with their products, especially with the internet, with millions of people trying to make money from it,and because of that money flowing like a raging river everybody wants a piece of the action, and they do not care if it is illegal.

The very people that made companies rich, rip and gyp them with higher prices, lower quality, and less quantity. That is how they reward people for doing business with them for the 50 years they been operating, unthankful, unholy.

So in today's world, because of the high selfish, arrogance, people not liking each other as much because of it,people are depending on themselves more, will bleed you dry of your money, and not care, for you do not care about them, they do not care about you,and everybody trying to get all they can get,and forget everybody else, and trust is not what it used to be,for they say who can you trust, and to get married is a gamble like playing the Lotto that has several states participating in the same game, odds against you greatly, and June Cleaver is nowhere to be found with her delightful ways.

But with all that terrible goings on concerning people's attitude at this time, there still are women that are decent, and not true that all women are gold diggers, but some are silver diggers, and some are bronze diggers.

For not all women qualify to be a gold digger, and they knew it years ago,but some today of the silver, try to push it to the gold, and bronze, try to push it to the silver, and some that are mentally unbalanced of the bronze, try to push it to the gold, stepping out of the standard procedure of the value of them symbolized by metals, but some still abide by the standard procedure gold, silver, bronze.

Your gold digger woman is a smoking,no joking, fire stoking hotty. You got a fine woman, but you will be broke,or near broke on cash to keep her,Because the truth is if I was rich, and of the world,I would not let some plain Jane woman try to get my money, for if I am going to be broke to keep a woman,or spend a lot on her,she better be a woman of the highest standard in hotness.

Some men might pull it off to get a smoking hotty temporarily,by lying to her that he has an inheritance coming in 2 months of a great sum of money from a relative, and he is the only one that person can leave it too,so he can have fun for at least two months, until he eventually has to tell her,I lied,or he can break up before that and move out of the state, and change his identity, lest she shoot him when she has the opportunity.

A silver digging woman is nice looking, nice personality, which you will have to spend some money on her,but you get to keep a lot of money too, unlike the gold digger woman.

The bronze digging woman is just happy to have a man,and she is not really all that attractive, but you barely have to spend any money on her, maybe take her to McDonald's once a week, and a movie once a month, mainly staying home and saving your money, and she might spend money on you.

So not all women are gold diggers, but in the selfish, and arrogant, time we live in,a lot of the silver digging women is trying to pass themselves off as gold, and the bronze as silver, and some get away with it for those men are idiots.

For me,I will take the silver digging woman, sure she is not a smoking,no joking, fire stocking hotty, but she is nice looking, good personality, and I will have to spend some money on her,but then I get to keep a lot of money for myself,to use when I cheat on her with other silver digging women.

Of course,I am joking, and they say love is blind, and not everybody goes for looks as priority number one,but personality, and a pretty face is a pretty face, and to some she does not have to be drop dead gorgeous.

In today's world the behavior, and the attitude,is more selfish, more arrogant, and self exalting, more separated from each other, more materialistic, and money hungry, less love between people, less trustworthy, dependent on one's self more, which can raise arrogance, and they like to exalt, because of the high arrogancy at this time.

But there is still decent people that does not let it affect them to where they will abandon good morals, and love, like a lot of people, but it appears that differences fight with each other more than the past,so that would also include men,and women.

Which the new age movement loves it,and would like to see it rise even higher of men and women disgusted with each other, for they want homosexuality for population reduction, and the Bible says they shall have it worldwide, and eventually it will be international law that a man and a woman cannot marry, for population reduction, and they cannot eat meat, for they are nature worshippers,or else do not like cruelty to animals.

Well, the Word of God does say that it's "good" to not touch a woman... but to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife

1 Corinthians 7:1,2
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Now, all one need to do is receive from the Lord His ability to control the flesh as to not lust after women sexually... and a fella would be all set which would enable him to spend mo time fellow shipping with the Lord and supporting the Gospel going out.

We don't have to get married and in this day and age of everyone being selfish, one would be better of being single.

The difference of "for secular reasons" and "for spiritual reasons" was made, though.

There is a difference between wanting to grow closer to God and turn from carnal living, and just being spiteful about half of the human population.

being spiteful about half of the human population.
Who said anything about not getting married out of spite?

The fact of the matter is... when one gets married, they now must consider their spouse a great deal of the time versus spending that time with the Lord not to mention those that marry will have problems in the flesh.

Read this... it explains in mo details:

1 Corinthians 7:28-35
But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.
But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;
And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not;
And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife
.
There is difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
And this I speak for your own profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you, but for that which is comely, and that ye may attend upon the Lord without distraction.
