If Joel Osteen is preaching a prosperity gospel(a false gospel) then he is a false teacher and is leading multitudes of people to the lake of fire...I dont take popular opinion polls to guide me in my beliefs, I rely soley on the Word of God....(Isaiah 8:20, Psalm 118:8, Romans 3:4)
Rightly spoken.

Almost daily I come across something in the Bible that backs me up. Proverbs 14,14: The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself. Im sure you have a different definition for backsliding.

I don't have a bunch of scriptures lined up like you guys do to disprove you. I don't come across a lot of people that actually believe your ways, but give me a few days.

The reason I asked about Joel is because I have noticed a pattern among Baptist, they have begun to attack Joel Osteen, he preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, he preaches love, God is Love, when did thid become a false gospel.

You have heard some one say this (i.e. your baptist preacher) and decided to hate right along with him for some reason.

I have to suspect that you are just repeating things that you have heard, not things you know.

When I made reference to my heart, your right, I can't stand when I hear someone tell someone to follow their heart, I knew this to my core, my soul, my mind, concience, I knew it.

Backsliding doesn't mean loss of salvation, it simply means one slides back into a sin practice. Osteen most definitely does not preach the gospel of Jesus Christ; See http://www.letusreason.org/Popteac29.htm for a list of proofs of this. I don't hate Osteen, but he is a ravening wolve (Mt. 7:15) who's unfruitful works of darkness need to be reproved (Eph. 5:11). God is love, but Jesus died for SIN. We must turn away from SIN to be saved, not just pray a pointless prayer like Osteen teaches.

Your ''heart'' doesn't agree with Scripture and common sense, therefore your ''heart'' is lying to you.

Here I found a few scriptures, I knew you would have different definition for backsliding, so here you go. Revelations 2,5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, an repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and I will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

Revelations 3,15-16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry, its definetly not a sin to believe that you can lose your salvation, so why teach that and take the chance of being wrong and going to hell and taking a bunch of others with you???

We must turn away from SIN to be saved

Sinnner, When one realizes their sinful state before God, they "repent"(ie: go from unbelief to belief in Christ).......In essence you have turned your back on your formal spiritual death state and turned to Christ to save you from your sins....I think the main reason why people think they can lose their salvation is because they thought and were told that they must stop sinning as a prerequisite to coming to Christ. It is the SIN of unbelief that one must turn from to be saved....So when someone says to "turn from sin" it is the sin of unbelief that you must turn from to be saved.....When you come to Christ as a guilty hell deserving sinner, fruits of saving faith are a dedicated life for the Lord, a desire to stop sinning, etc...We dont stop sinning to come to Christ, we turn to Christ so he can HELP us with our sins(and we get salvation)....

Um in context those are referring to specific churches in Rev. 2 & 3.

I think it is wrong to make someone guess whether or not they are God's children when in 1 John 5:13 it says...

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life

So those who thought they must stop sinning to come to Christ and get salvation, are also the ones who believe that falling back into sins will get them lost.....I do have a thread labeled "Biblical Repentance" I recommend you read....

I dont know Joel Osteen's teaching so I cant really comment on that. I absolutely believe in spiritual gifts. Only you know if you were saved then rejected your salvation in your heart then came back to the Lord... Prodigal son... Lost sheep... whatever, all i know is the Lord REJOICED when you came back...& as you continued in your wild teenage ways..... your Heavenly Father waited and was not willing that you should be lost.

Come on, there is no "out of context" there. As for people thinking that they have to turn from sin before they get saved, I never thought that.

As for the Joel Osteen smear site, someone has way too much time on their hands, did you know that Joel does't recieve a salary from his church, of the approx. 75 million dollars profit brought in every year 75 million is spent on promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Since when the gospel prosperity was a false gospel? Can you provide any biblical scriptures that back this up?

NOTE: I am asking for biblical scriptures. I am not asking for scriptures that support your opinions.

Sinner:

I have two questions for you.

Question 1: If God were to die right now, do you think you will go to heaven?

Question 2: If you were at the front gate of heaven and God asked you: why should I let you into my heaven, what would you say to him?

Some things in scripture are not written to us, but everything is written for us. I think you are severely severely deceived about Osteen. I find it funny you probably never even looked at that site.

Revelations 3,5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

That can't be any more clear, by him saying " I will not blot out his name out of the book of life". Since we are not born with our names in the book of life we have to get put in it some way and that way is by repenting of our sins and asking Jesus into our hearts. Why would there be a threat of our names being blotted out if it wasn't possible. We can lose our salvation, it says it right there, I'm not trying to argue, just keep people from going to hell.

I did look at that site, have you ever watched Joel, at the end of every service he asks people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I watch him and listen to what people say about him. I go off what I hear him say not what other people say.

He says it but doesn't say how.. all he says is "pray this prayer... I repent of my sins'' How does one repent of their sins? What is repentance? That is how people go to hell, not by believing in eternally security. I find it funny how mixed up your beliefs are.

Why, to help bash Joel???????????? I don't get it, there are diferent preachers sent to preach diferent ways, John Hagee teaches diferent fom Rod Parsley and he is different from Joyce Meyer and she is different from Kenneth Copeland, but it is all the gospel of Jesus Christ, I watch them all...
