Get married.
Stay on Disability.
Move into her Dad's house.
Make sure the house goes to her, free and clear when he dies.
And then you both will at least have a roof over your heads and enough money to buy food.
We want to spend time together here in Arizona before we talk of marriage. My dad will not take another person into the house when we're considering moving to a smaller one. My mother will still be alive even if if daddy does not make it through the cancer, and I will by no means take it from her. This is gonna be a long road, there are not gonna be any quick fixes. But God is gonna provide. Besides I don't want to get married because it will expedite anything, but because I love Blain and I want us to have a life together.

I'm praying for you guys.

Just know the situation is not as "hopeless" as it looks.

You two seem dedicated to each other. Dedicated people find a way.

Hi Blain,

I don't know how severe your disability is and I don't know if you and Stef are considering doing something together or not.

So a couple other thoughts......how about baby sitting dogs/cats?

How about an errands business?

A couple at our church ran a day care out of their home. They made very good money and were very good at loving children which made it a success.

I'm praying for you both and hope that you both can be together soon!

Another thought just hit me. You are both very artistic. How about greeting cards?

Things could have changed in the last few years. But back then Etsy was lit, my friend.

Hi Stef,

There is a business that helps people who want to start up a business. We have an office here.

Score helps people to begin a business by offering free advise, workshops, etc. You may want to check it out. It's all free and they are business professionals that offer their services to help those who have business ideas, but don't know how to go about all the start ups, etc.

They will even tell you what type of businesses are needed and if they thing your idea is viable or not.

I think the only reason I tend to be not so sure about etsy is because you have to pay for the listings, but it's literally like change

One problem is that I have a tendency to focus the efforts on myself. Like I thought maybe it'd be a good idea to do a weight loss blog. As in, me losing weight and documenting what all happens. But as far as catering to a specific fandom? That I haven't done except on Tumblr.

Another thing I thought of was maybe doing art speed draws speed paints. Basically where I record myself doing art, then upload it at a faster speed with like music behind it or something.
You know I am still tweaking the Christian forum I made, I don't know why but I have always been into making forums and always considered running one but never really jumped into it because I don't know if running a forum is extremely time consuming or not. of course I would need time to be able to be here on cc as well and so even if running a forum would make a decent income if it is to time consuming then I can't do it. Though since i love cc so much a forum would make perfect sense job wise for me, of course I wouldn't be able to tell anyone here about it if i got up and running or I would get banned and that would make my entire world shatter to pieces.

Has anyone ever run a forum before and do you know how time consuming it is?
fandom and forums is what you both bring to the table, and both are great ideas, put them together and you will have a great potential money making site, because forget "finding a fandom",you two are a "Living Fandom" two great personalities together with such great skills I don't think you realize just how many people keep tuning in to every post you two make including me,and you two I could see an artistry site with your artist pieces viewable and perhaps an update thing where you two tell people how you are doing and even have some chats like you do here, you two I believe are limiting yourselves you two have everything you need to make an awesome artistic fan base site, charisma, great personalities, awesome skills, humility, and a great love in God,so I would say to go out and get some permits for both your art and a site and combine them alongside your all over great personas!

Online freelance jobs? My sister does illustration and animation work on upwork. She started only 4 months ago and now she's hired 2 other illustrators to set up an agency because there's so much fish in this sea.

Only the first couple months require patience. It'd work for you both.

Just a few thoughts as I read thru ...

If Blain paid rent would they still need to move into a smaller house? If you're going into care-taking mode you need as much room as you can get. Help too. Blain could help take care of the day to day stuff so Steph would be freer to tend her parents.

Blain, have you ever watched Shark Tank? One of the things I see recurring there is that if someone is not 100% into their business they won't get a deal. If you're going to do your forum it has to be your priority. We all love CC (time has proven again and again that I'm actually addicted ;) ), but you can't make your site subservient to this one. It has to be your first love. Robo will understand.

And if he doesn't and he bans you, I'll quit coming here. Anybody else with me on that one? :)

Steph, my wife's aunt's grandson was involved in producing a 'video game' (more an experience than a game) based on an experience a family went thru losing their son to cancer That Dragon, Cancer Perhaps you might document your experience with caring for a parent in a similar way? Just a thought.

Willie ... did I just hear you tell someone to stay on the public teat? But you're so against milking someone else's cow to provide the formula. lol

Blain, brother, every time I heard what you said about your physical abilities and their restrictions, ... I'm not sure how to relate this but I got the sense that maybe you've been convinced they're a little more restricted than they really are. I understand what you experience when you try and that you do try, but there's this little voice in my spirit that says you've been convinced you can't do something that you can. Wish I could pin it down a little more for you, but God will fill in the blanks if this is from Him. You know how He loves that 2 or 3 witnesses thing :)

If the logistics work out, I can help you a little bit with the move. Maybe we should start up a go fund me campaign. Call it the Blain and Stephanie Dowry Fund ;)

My girlfriend is an online English teacher. Good money. I'll try and get you and Blain a link.

Both of you could do it and make an okay amount on top of all this other schtuff.

Yeah I started a blog, but I guess we could do another one....? Like that modest nerd one I was talking about? Or if Blainy wanted to he could do one to help pokemon players? :D
You've made it, but are you studying how and working it? There is time investment to find the ones interested in your topic. (I personally think you can get an agent to become a children's book publisher, which is a completely different field.) If you go with blog, then you can have a two-income family. It's nice to have jobs where you both can stay at home.

Dunno how stuff works over there with salaries, insurance etc.

As for jobs ... most will strain you in some way or another
Either it is labour intensive , or you still still .... neither are good :p

Could you for instance be a ....hum, not sure what it is called ... one of those people who sit in the room during school exams and make sure no one cheats? It would probably be sporadic work, but at least provide some extra income
Test proctors. Not a good pay, not much work, (like one hour a week, maybe), and he'd have to travel.

Heya Blain.

Your monthly income is $735, yes?

And you receive Social Security Income and not disability, correct?

There's a huge difference between these two.

When you marry Steph, if she makes any income above $361 a month, expect your benefits to be reduced immediately.

It's also very possibly that you could fully lose all monthly entitlements right away.

If you'd need assistance with calculating your potential loss of benefits as you go forward on this, visit your local Social Security office and soon as possible.

Sorry to break the bad news, but SSI and marriage really don't go together at all. :(

If you do the lose weight blog, get exerts to write how-to articles every so often. Do some research on what's suppose to work, and if any sound interesting try it.I tried a lifestyle change a few weeks ago. Lost 7 pounds in 5 days without cutting calories or exericising. Only problem is I gained it back just as fast. They kind of thing would get interest.
