Nonsense, Hebrews chapter 4 clearly explains who is the New Covenant believer's rest - and it is Jesus Christ.
Your theology just disallows you from seeing what is plainly written - Ellen G. White has a lot to answer for...
Do you not see that you are not even speaking of the same thing as I am?

I am not talking about rest in Christ, I am talking about the 7th day Sabbath in Genesis 2 that God blessed and set apart as Holy. Go read it if you like to see things plainly written.

everyone knows Jesus gives us rest from sin and condemnation. That is not the issue here.

As far as Ellen White, no one said anything about her that is on you.

Have you got anything to say to my post that actually addresses it?

Jesus said all the law and all the prophets were fulfilled by love. Do you not believe this? I am repeating myself but you talk to me as if what I say is not Scripture. Do you need chapter and verse? Paul said love does no harm to others. Do you need chapter and verse for that as well? I mean, I have mentioned these, and talked about them as if they are from the Bible, but you act like I am just giving my opinion. You misrepresented someone else earlier too in this very thread, saying they gave no Scriptural references when they did. Is that a habit with you?
Hi Magenta,

Absolutely Love to God and our neighbor is what God wants for us and on these two commandments Jesus says hang all the Law and the prophets. Did you know that Jesus was quoting from the Old Testament scriptures (Matt 22:36-40; Deut 6:5; Lev 19:18).

MATT 5: Love is the fulfilling of God's Law

[SUP]16,[/SUP] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
[SUP]17,[/SUP] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[SUP]18,[/SUP] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The Law of God (10 commandments) is the work of God (Ex 32:16) whatsoever God does is forever nothing can be added to it or taken away (Ecc 3:14). God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Ps 19:7). It is the very foundation of the Old and New Covenants (Ex 20:1:17, Heb 8:10-12). God's Law was spoken by God himself to His people (Ex 20:1-22). Jesus says Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matt 25:35). Gods Law is still in force today (Ps 111:7-8, Rev 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1John 3:5-8, 1John 2:3-4 etc.). The Law of God reveals sin to us so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour (Rom 3:20; 1John 3:4). It is the great standard of the judgement (Ecc 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1John 3:4, Acts 17:31). God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and the character of God and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be saved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood (Gal 3:24; Rev 1:5). God writes His Law in our hearts so that we become like him and we follow him because we love him (Heb 8:10-12; ) LOVE is the fulfilling (doing) of God's Law (Rom 13:10). This is why Jesus says to those that love him If you love me keep my commandments (John 14:15).

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (Matt 5:17-18)

HEB 8: (new covenant)

[SUP]10,[/SUP] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [SUP]11,[/SUP] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [SUP]12,[/SUP] for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

God Fulfilling His Law
(10 commandments) of Love IN US through Faith

The fulfilling of the God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal mind = sin) but after the Spirit (new mind with God's Law written on the heart) (Rom 8:1). That the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled IN US who walk not after the flesh (carnal mind = sin) but after the spirit (Rom 8:4; 6). Salvation is God fulfilling his Law in us saving us from sin. Finally the result of God's salvation can be seen as " Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (Rev 14:12). God's people with the character of Jesus saved by faith through love. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:34-36)

Hope this is helpful. If someone did post scripture and I did not see it please forgive me. I hope you can give a reason for the hope that is in you from God's Word. I love sharing God's Word don't you?

God bless.

Be honest with us.

Just answer this one question: It's a yes or no answer.

If a Christian doesn't follow the Sabbath day as outlined in the Old Testament - are they sinning and dis-obeying God?

According to Scripture those that Love God keep the Commandments and according to scripture We are to keep the Commandments. And according to Scripture saints Keep the Commandments and have the Testimony of the Messiah... no surprise then because it Is the Lord's Testimony that we are adhering to.

If they have not the Testimony of the Messiah all are disobeying and remain in unbelief.

Those in unbelief are keeping Sabbath according to the law of Moses... thus not keeping it by the law of Faith which worketh love.

So they are under the law of Moses and will not be circumcised inwardly.

The law includes the 10 commandments, since Jesus said love fulfills all the law (and all the prophets), which Paul explained, love does no harm to another, which makes no sense if it were just the 613. God bless you as well.
Absolute ignorance of the Testimony of the Messiah.

It is true, in the myriads of people who believe the Sabbath is the Seventh Day ordained by the Father, there may be one or two who are stuck on your supposition.

It is a shame how so many live and so many die in the endeavor of accusation,

It seems there is the thinking that will only go by what the Father has taught us, and the opposite thinking we should all abide by what mankind has devised.

If those who constantly quote Paul in the place of Jesus christ would only know all of what Paul says. I do. I do not fault people for having the Sabbath of the Lor on the first day of teh week, nor on any other day of the week. They may have it all six days of the week instead of the one given us by God, because if they do it wit a clear conscienc, according to Paul, they are not guilty of wrong-doing. Why can you folks not have this attitude with those who sare God's Day as given by Him?

It seems teh human traditionalists are doing all they are given to obliterate the pronouncement of our Father on which day is HIs Sabbath.

I will always recognize only the Seventh Day as given byu my Father and practiced by His only Son as my gift day from God. I do not fault others for their choice or their traditions.... Please stop attempting to obliterated the Word of God in the hearts of many of His children. It is wrong according to Paul, your favorite sourec, and even worse acording to Jesus Christ.

I guess in some minds all of those that do not keep the Sabbath day as outlined in the Old Testament are sinning and dis-obeying God and all those that agree with that statement and yet don't keep the Sabbath as outlined in the Old Testament - what does that say?

Be honest with us. Do you love Jesus? Jesus wants you to be honest with us. You are free in Christ to observe any day or feast as you choose. But just answer this one question: It's a yes or no answer. If a Christian doesn't follow the Sabbath day as outlined in the Old Testament - are they sinning and dis-obeying God?
Dear Grace777,

I have only ever been honest with you but you do not believe God's Word. Let God's Word be true and every man a liar (Acts 5:29). When anyone puts their own words in place of the Word of God and ignores what God says in order to hold onto the teachings and traditions of man this is not honest. In times of ignorance God does not hold us accountable but when he gives us a knowledge of His truth through His Word he expects us to repent and follow him. We follow the Sabbath as outlined in Ex 20:8-11 as a Holy day because God asks us to and we follow Him because we love Him. Jesus is the creator and maker of this day (Gen 2:1-3). Jesus said he made this day for us and He is the Lord of it and we should follow him (Mark 2:27-28; Matt 16:24). It is the "Lord's Day" we should be happy and rejoice in it because God made it for us (Ps 118:24).

Here tell me what these scriptures mean and you have answered your own question?

Jam 4:17
Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

Act 17:30
At times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent:

1John 3:4,
Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Jam 2:8-12,
If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Isa 55:6-7,
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

God bless you

I see that you still have not answered a simple question. It's a yes or no answer.

I will give you an example:

Someone asks me if living a homosexual lifestyle is it sinning? I would say "Yes!"

I will ask the question one more time in the hope that you would be honest with us. If not , then I will not ask again because your answer will be obvious and you are entitled to it.

Jesus said "I have many things to tell you but you cannot bear them now. But the Holy Spirit when He comes - He will teach you all things and reveal the things of Me and show them unto you."

Meaning - Jesus had many other things to tell us but the disciples couldn't understand them yet - Jesus has used Paul to show what these things are by the Holy Spirit. You do not get these in the 4 gospels. The words spoken to Paul are from Jesus' words and are just as valid.

The proclamation of Christ produces the profession of Christ, but the explanation of Christ is what produces the experience of Christ.

Believers can never fully enjoy the triumph of the gospel and express Christ in this world victoriously
until there has been an explanation and exposition of the vivid details of the redemptive work of Christ that has gained a foothold in our renewed minds.

The 4 gospels were eyewitness accounts of the historical events in the life and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christianity is based on the veracity of these events as having occurred in real time, in all historicity and specificity.

Nevertheless it is the unveiling of the spiritual realities of these events that relates to the believer in Christ. This is found in the revelation that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to the apostle Paul.

The 4 gospels are the proclamation of the gospel. They disclose to us what men saw. Acts of the apostles is the demonstration of the gospel, but it is Paul's letters which give us an explanation of the gospel. It is the Pauline Epistles that are the constitution of this church age.

Paul's epistles explain what happened from the cross, death, burial, quickening and resurrection to the being seated at the right hand of the Father. Without these epistles we would have no idea what Jesus our Lord actually accomplished for us.

Paul was taught by Jesus Christ Himself to explain His gospel = to reveal the mystery that was hidden in God until it was revealed by Christ to Paul. The mystery being Christ Himself and the riches of that glory is that Christ is in us and we are in union with Him as one spirit!

These "explanations" of the mystery of the gospel that Christ is in us - cannot be found openly in the 4 gospels themselves. We need to marry the things Paul said with the words of Jesus in the 4 gospels.

It is in Paul's explanation of the gospel that Christ is in us - the hope of glory where we find the nutrients to walk by the spirit.

Hi Grace777,

I am not sure what you mean. Your question has been answered with God's Word. You just need to read it. You either believe God or you do not. It is up to you. Try reading post 2206 very carefully and pray about it if you do not know the meaning of those scriptures. Jesus will help you if you ask him.

Paul was quite clear in Romans 7:1-6

We have died to the law , been released from the Law and not under the Law of Moses anymore - "so that" we could be joined to Another - to Him!

We have died to the Law "in order that" we would also bear fruit unto God. Only through Christ can we bear true fruit unto God.

Romans 7:4 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ,
so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

Going back to the law for life and living is committing spiritual adultery on our Lord.

Absolute ignorance of the Testimony of the Messiah.
I don't think you are absolutely ignorant of the testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I think you just have a mis-understanding of what it is.
