So then, how much sin is sin enough that will make you lose your salvation?
I'm not the one who draws the line. I know that I never go to sleep without making sure that I have asked Jesus to forgive me of the sins throughout the day.

Jeff Paton, The very essence of our sinful nature, means we CANNOT work our way into righteousness! An no, I do not go preach it to sinners as "once saved, always saved"......I preach they are sinners, Jesus is the Savior! We cannot possible keep ourselves which is why God keeps us! And where did I ever teach that man has a license to sin? Any man that thinks his good merits have a part in salvation, is still dead in their sins.

Why not go through this thread Scripture by Scripture and explain to me where my good works come into play with salvation. The Word of God cannot be any clearer on this...Our works of righteousness are FILTHY rags compared to his Holiness, and perfection!

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Titus 3:5

What is so hard to understand about this? Its a FREE gift to those who believe!(Rev. 21:6)
Once again I am not disagreeing that works make you saved, no one disputes this, we all know it is because of what Jesus did on the cross, I have never disputed this.

Somebody answer my question please.

But you just know for sure that at a certain amount of sin, you are no longer a saved?

Without asking for forgivness continually you will eventually lose your salvation, I am sure of this. The eternal salvation teachings are a new age teaching, for 1500 years after the crusifixion and resurection of Jesus this was never taught or accepted.

Alright, since we both agree that a Christian must believe in Jesus Christ as His Lord and savior and that he must live a life that is pleasing to God, let us focus on that!

It has been good sharing with you brother!

God bless! :)

Here are some of your quotes as a review:

I don't believe that one little sin makes you lose your salvation.

Im confused about your position Sinnner.....You say that no works can save which is correct, Not repenting of your sins as a Christian IS a sin! And you previously stated you believe that one little sin wont make you lost again.....Where does the Word draw the line between a LITTLE sin and a BIG sin? I'll show you a verse:

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10

One sin does not make you lose your salvation instantly, it takes time and a refusal to repent.

That is not found anywhere in the Word of God.

Explain why early Christianity never taught this (eternal salvation), did mankind just figure this out in the past 500 years?

Where did you get that piece of info from? References please? You state it as if it were a fact, then proceed to tell me to answer the question......Give me some proof of this claim...

So you are going to base your beliefs on the "perspectives" of early church fathers? I'll tell you why people dont understand eternal security, its because they think it is something of themselves that completes salvation.....The Word of God clearly condemns that:

"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" Galatians 3:1-3

Good night.

For many years I have asserted that the doctrine of Eternal Security is not to be found anywhere in the Bible. I have to humble myself and admit that I was wrong; it is stated, and I will show you where.
It is only asserted in one place, but it is also displayed in a multitude of examples in Scripture too! The Bible says in Genesis 3:4 to Adam and Eve concerning eating the forbidden fruit in the Garden, “Ye shall not surely die:” You see, the Bible is replete with examples of people who believed this Bible promise and acted upon it. They believed that they could sin with impunity, for they believed that “Ye shall not surely die” if you do!
Most Bible students will have guessed by now that the quotation I used from the Bible were the lying words of the devil in the temptation of Eve, and not an exhortation of God. Not every word in the Bible is composed of God’s words to us, but some are examples of lies and errors in which we are to learn from and avoid! Strangely, the doctrine that goes by the name of Eternal Security is identical to the very lie in the Garden, and God has given us an example so we would not also be deceived by it! Yet many of those who would shake their heads in dismay at the simplicity in which Adam and Eve were duped, are some of the very ones that elevate this very doctrine to the position of the greatest and most important doctrine for the believer to embrace from the entire Bible! To some, it’s the Gospel!
What are we to say of doctrines that Satan invents, and then passes them off as Scripture? So many ignore what he is teaching. Most do not study the statements of evil men given for our edification in Scripture. But God gives them to us as examples, many times as as a contrast to His truth!
If Satan says that if you sin you shall not die spiritually, and God warns us that if we sin we will die, then how can we ignore such a double emphasis from Scripture? We have a straightforward prohibition from God Himself, and an example of how the devil uses Scripture twisting to teach people the very opposite of what God says! Nowhere in Scripture is it stated that we can sin with impunity, with the exception of the lie of the devil! We are told that the “wages of sin is death,” which is spiritual death! “He who sins is of the devil,” which false teachers tell people to ignore and soften it to allow sin, even though God has inspired the writer to say it with crystal clarity.
For any doctrine to be a Biblically endorsed doctrine of God it must be stated in the Bible, yet Eternal Security or its conclusions are elusive. It is not surprising in the least that no one can find any such doctrine of Eternal Security in the Scriptures without assuming it first, because such a doctrine defies all logic and a multitude of clearly stated Scriptures which proves such demonic conclusion as Eternal Security to be false!
Some doctrines can be derived from the clear statements that are available from piecing the evidence and several positive statements together, such as the Trinity of God. But Eternal Security cannot be brought together in the same way. Many proponents of the doctrine have boldly and ignorantly asserted that “Eternal Security is the Gospel!” But how can that be? You see, the Early Church was undecided about the Trinity, and it took hundreds of years before it became orthodoxy. That’s o.k., it’s not a salvation issue! But if Eternal Security is the Gospel, then why did God hide it from them? Why was the Early Church consistently against any such doctrine as Eternal Security? Was it God's plan to hide the doctrine so well that those taught by the apostles themselves did not know it? That for nearly half a millennium Christianity knew nothing of such a doctrine, and deemed such a teaching to be a "strange doctrine" of the heathen religions and saw it as heresy? Does God want to shroud His Gospel in a way that makes it difficult for people to be saved? Surely, the "Good News," the "Gospel" of Jesus Christ must be easily found and stated in Scripture in order for it to be “good” news! I cannot fathom that God’s Gospel is ‘so’ hidden and ambiguous as to be reduced to a game of “Where’s Waldo” in the Scriptures! The Gospel is clear, and Eternal Security has nothing to do with it! Eternal Security has everything to do with elevating the lie of the devil above the very Gospel itself! It supplants the work of Christ on humanities’ behalf with the deceptive teaching of the devil. Just because a majority of people believe the devil’s words over God’s words, is no reason to go along with it!
Yes, Eternal Security is a "Biblical" doctrine on the same order as murder, incest, theft, and dishonesty are; as clear examples of what things to avoid.

By Jeff Paton (I'm not Jeff)

as well as you, Jeff must have forgotten alot of verses but I wonder what jeff would do with this one :

1jo 2:1My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:1jo 2:2And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
these are little children ( already in the family ) sinning But it does not say we are kicked out of the Family but rather trust in the Lord

That means that we can get forgivness from God through Jesus any time we sin, we just ask for it.

God hates sin.A sinful man will surely go to hell.

For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23),
The soul who sins is the one who will die. (Ezek. 18:4)
For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die (Romans 8:13)
Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. (James 1:15)

All kinds of sin are condemned and will bring you to hell. For God hates sin.

The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal. 19-21)
You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell (Psalm 5:4)

God sent His Son to save us from our sins. That if we believe in Him, we will be saved.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son... (John 3:16)
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

Now this is the part where most people get confused. After being saved.

After believing in Christ, that He died for all our sins and was resurrected, what do we get? The salvation we all longed for. We were saved from the sins we have done and the sins that we had from our forefathers. Now, Does that mean we won't be able to sin anymore? Does that mean we will be perfect and without sin?. Of course not. That means your sins were forgiven. Once you get saved, that doesn't mean you will be perfect! Gal 19-21 is where you would find the most common sins that we (even believers) commit everyday. Selfish Ambition, jealousy, and all the others. I get jealous at times, now does that mean I wasn't saved for real? And what did Paul say about it? They will not inherit the Kingdom. We have a perfect God. So does that mean we are all going to hell? Yes. While we are still on earth we are prone to sin. And do the things God hate. Thats why He commanded us all to be watchful...

"Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness. ” Luke 11:35
“ ... take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. ” Luke 21:34-36
"Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is." Mark 13:33
"Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, d rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. ” Luke 17:3

...be watchful in everything we do, for God hates sin. And repent...

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
"Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. " (Acts 17:30)
"I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. " (Luke 13:5)
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19)

Repent, for we are all sinners and have fall short of the Glory of God. And believe that Jesus died for you and will forgive you. Now, again, does that mean we are all going to hell? No.

Bottom line. God hates sin. Believers are not yet perfect. So be watchful in everything we do and repent for God hates sin. Don't let sin take away the gift of salvation God has given you and bring you to the lake of fire.

Watch out for deceptions!
"Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. " Colossians 2:8
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things..." 2 Timothy 4:2-5

I would rather be safe than sorry, give me conditional salvation.

I would hope and pray that you make sure you are in the faith.....Because if you think that good works will keep you saved, then you believed a works gospel.....The Word says the FRUITS are evidence of saving faith......When man understands Galatians 3:24 and places faith in Christ, he will show evidence of it sometime in their lifetime(James 2:18).

John 12:4-6 says Judas Iscarot was a thief.....satan entered him when he betrayed Jesus(John 13:27)....No evidence in the Bible that he was ever a Christian.....He was an imposter....And in fact, there are MANY false converts who say they are Christians and who are not(see Jude 1:4, 1 John 2:19)...

Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Where these people christians having the holy spirit?

acts 5,3

But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4

Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5

And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6

And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

9

Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10

Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

These arnt my words
1st John chapter 3,7

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

That storey about the man in his wife in the beginning scares me.
We have to be born again.
