Hey Ramah,
Our bond is the unity of the faith and of course this has been contended and defended as you can see since NT times and is a frequent topic in NT Scripture. It took place then, it is taking place now.
People tend to believe the early NT churches were all full of unity, pure doctrine, holiness, &c when it reality they were infiltrated by false brother, false teachings, schism, heresy, division, anti christs and much more.
We are to guard the unity of the faith, we cannot manufacture it so the ongoing fight is still for the faith, Jude 1:3 &c. Unity is also not compromise of doctrine for the sake of so-called peace.
There is a local church here where everyone gets their chance, if they desire, to share "their truth." A buddhist I know goes there and he shared all the different gospels being preached and proclaimed how wonderful it was to dwell in "unity." No matter what you believe it is all good.
That's not unity it's compromise.
Now I must ask, is this what you desire in "bible study?" Everybody can preach their truth, and it's all good?
