I'll address this a little more fully brother. I hope there isn't much disagreement saying that Noah's Ark was a "type" of Christ. Or at least an attribute of Him.

Genesis 6:14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it INSIDE and outside with pitch.

The idea of the pitch (tar) on the outside is obviously to keep OUT the judgement of God on unrepentant sinners.

Now some commentators believe the purpose of the pitch on the inside is to preserve the Ark through millenia as a sign in the last days, and this may be true.

But if we look at the similitude, the pitch could be a modeling of the Holy Spirit sealing the inside for the saved. Remember WHO it was that closed the Ark door before the 1st drop. Now obviously Noah could have jumped out the window to joyfully embrace God's judgement! lol

So this "sealing" is a very important concept. Not to argue the eternal security point with you. I know where you stand on it, and although I wish you saw things my way, you trust in Christ, who He is, and what He has done, just like me. Therefore you are my brother and I love you.

Ephesians 1:13New King James Version (NKJV)

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

2 Corinthians 1:21-22New King James Version (NKJV)

21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Now John tells us a little about seals in Revelation:

Revelation 5New King James Version (NKJV)

The Lamb Takes the Scroll

5 And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” 3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.
4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read[a]the scroll, or to look at it. 5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
6 And I looked, and behold,[c] in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. 7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.
Worthy Is the Lamb

8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us[d] kings[e] and priests to our God;
And we[f] shall reign on the earth.”

So I'm confused as to how someone is going to break the seal only Jesus can open?

ALL of this DOES NOT make me want to go out and sin more! Quite the contrary. I'm so blown away by His Mercy and Grace, that I hate to disappoint Him because I'm so grateful to Him. Consequently I WANT to please Him more knowing I am secure in Him.

I hope this scratches where your'e itchin brother! Be Blessed

Wow...this is really interesting too!
When I was reading it, the verse that came to my mind was the one that says something like...you have hewn for yourself cracked cisterns that can hold no water.

Don't know if that will make sense to you, but it tied into Him sealing us to me. :)

My admonition is in rejection of your heresy, we are not to look to ourselves in assisting our salvation, we are to remember that our hope is only in Christ...
That's what I said.....continue to believe in Christ. We are to "remember that our hope is only in Christ".....that's called having faith.

Am going over some posts and came on this. What's funny is that I agreed with this using the word age. Lol...was thinking we do get old and don't do as much. :)
Haha! When I first read it, I thought: I'm in trouble if I'm depending on my age because stuff keeps falling apart on me...;)

You accuse me of back peddling!?!?, another outright lie......Since I joined this site I have consistently and constantly said that our righteousness is Christs and is a gift, obtained by faith and imputed by Christ...

New flash...its God always working in us...when I post, I take it for granted that mature saints know that we know this....it is a given for some of us...not something we have to remind ourselves and others about to sound spiritual and be petted as the smartest woman in the room....

This is not your board, not your thread and not your little kingdom....here is a piece of advice that might really help you...

Go to Home Depot......buy a ladder....set it up.....and get over it....
Greetings Megiddo; the Greek word is "logizomai"; means to be justified by God....it's root is logos "the word", meaning the logical, reasoning, sound mind of God..."Imputed" is a fancy twisted Latin term forced upon the text by religious layers in the 15th century, having nothing to do with the true meaning of "logizomai". Our good works done in faith are reckoned (justified by God's sound reasoning and logic) to be righteous in His presence. Faithfulness to God is reckoned/numbered among to be as righteousness.....steadfast obedient believers are "logizomia" numbered among the righteous, and sinners are numbered among the wicked all through the scriptures...

God engrafted in every man that very same logical ability to reason with HIM; for He was the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world, (the light of conscience), therefore scarlet sinners are able to reason together with God in a season of godly sorrow, coming clean with Him in repentance, thus having his sins of scarlet made to be as white as snow Isaiah, 1-18......keep up the contending for the truth and blessed always

John 6:39 "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that
He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

John 10: 7-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand."

1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us."

No, that's not what you said. Those who have faith are the truly converted only, and none of them "stop believing" so your lame admonition is asinine. Those who have believed in vain, and don't hold their profession were never saved to begin with. Seems you enjoy the latter group immensely.

You're scared, out on a limb, because nothing in church history agrees with you. Go fetch proof from church history that supports your latter day heresy of loss of salvation.

You've yet to offer proof and thus far only offer misunderstood texts as "proof" of which a quote from any church authority would undo.

Hey, maybe you can quote John Gill, like Stephen63 for proof?

I would say adolescents have better manners than you.
Well, you say a lot asinine things, so the above would be no different. You're consistent like that.

Have you provided any more Gill quotes that support your works gospel and loss of salvation heresy, or are you ready to own that Gill is OSAS and you misunderstood him?

You know, own your huge mistake publicly? Like a man? :D

It's his thread Laura...and he has been much critized for it.

As I said many posts before you made this one, I will reiterate, I wasn't talking about nor to them. When a thread gets to over 30,000 posts it's wise to open your mind that much more as the op or other posters, that the thread diverged into other meanings, references and topics - best to take that into consideration before taking offence.

]If you can lose your salvation and not get it back, we are all in trouble.

I know what Scripture you're taking this idea from, but it's not at all correct.

The idea that you look at your actions to determine if your saved is circumstantial at best. Which actions? What does holy look like? Maybe your holiness and my holiness are different? After all Paul said they were when he compared people who EAT meat sacrificed and those who didn't. He said our heart had a LOT to do with it. What about people who are scared they will lose their salvation? Have they already what do you tell them?

I can't imagine what your gospel sounds like when you're teaching to a new convert. Okay, so I hope you stay saved, but if you don't you're done. So make sure you do everything the Bible teaches. Okay you ready to accept Jesus? Here's a 5 page list of things you're going to need to give up... you don't listen to rock music do you? No more of that. Also you know your body is his temple? What you eat junk food, you take pharmaceuticals, you smoke??? Oh you're out. See me when you're ready to really give it all up. Hope you don't die first. Remember, Jesus loves you!

There is no security at all in what you're teaching the Bible teaches.

Love one another. Do you love people 100%? What if Jesus meant you're supposed to sell all and give it to the poor, have you done it? Jesus told someone he had to do it to be saved. So why doesn't this apply to you?

This is such a slippery slope.

Holding fast is believing you're a new creation in Christ. It's not trying to be one.
Hi Cee, I fully support your post;

The Preaching on this forum; that God does not give second chances is faulty reasoning and not true; Jesus gave Peter a second chance; God gave King David a second chance, and Jonah learned about second chances from the belly of a great fish.

"God does all these things to a person; twice, even three times; to bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of life.…Job33.29,30

"Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy." Micah7:18

"Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” "Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.Matthew18:21,22

Where do these people come from preaching false doctrines; God does not play baseball with our eternal destination; "three strikes and you're out" it will never happen child of God.

God bless!

We can never "out-sin" God's grace.;)

What am I supposed to say after reading this?

I could have piled up the one-liners to counter that, but what's the point in that?

It's simply not true.

Aannd, there's only one way for
FlSnookman7 to prove it.

John 10: 7-28 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand."

Absolutely true for those who believe. That's why we need to keep believing.

1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us."
Did you know 'really' is not in the original text of 1 John 2:19? It was added to help interpret the verse. But sadly, it misinterprets the verse because just a couple of verses later in vs. 24 John warns the believers to not also depart:

"24As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning." (1 John 2:24 NASB)

Here it is in context:

"19They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, so that it would be shown that they all are not of us. 20But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. 21I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.23Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. 24As for you, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father." (1 John 2:19-24 NASB)

The emboldened words are the same Greek word for 'abide'.
See, in verse 19, they did not continue to abide. John then tells the believers in vs. 24 to 'continue to abide' and not be like the ones who did 'not continue to abide' in vs. 19. Understand?

In my mind I tried to reason with Jonah to turn around and go God's way, but it took God's grace and a huge fish to accomplish that, thanks for asking....:)

Exactly, God is in charge of all whom he has chosen and accomplish his will in them and will bring each of them home.

Let's try it one more time. You did not address my question.

How is "we are to remember that our hope is only in Christ" not the equivalent of continuing to believe in Christ?

Well that isn't even true. Your'e bearing false witness there son.

Keep trying, I've addressed you and refuted you numerous times and many can see this. I still await you to answer my posts, all you've done thus far is to skip past all of that and pretend. Go quote us all some church fathers who believe in your works gospel, and, who believe in your take that we must not stop believing or we won't be saved.

Just one church father. Go fetch one.

The fact remains: your gospel is false, and if you don't exert effort to believe every millisecond you'll end up in hell. Thus Christ didn't really ever save even one person, it is all up to them.

Your gospel is therefore false.
