we can be decieved

we can also be willingly ignorant to truth

or even deny Gods will until we harden ourself to the truth to the point we cannot see the truth of our own accord

being given over to a reprobate mind

but that does not mean all assurance is false
Please answer the following:

Are you personally assured of your salvation?

Is it possible for you or others to be deceived on this issue?

Good grief man. How could there be a false sense of assurance when the Word says that Jesus died for all the worlds sin. And in another place...whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Read the scriptures and renew your mind.
well it IS possible

just not for those who have a genuine faith

i think hes trying to figure out WHY those in Matthew 7:21 proclaim Jesus name

but are turned away

It is not the will of God that any be lost. Not speaking of universalism either. But, I think God is more merciful than we are giving Him credit for.

Based on Jesus Christ and the work of salvation, if you receive the truth, why would anyone have to fear?

Ok, thank you will look. Am only on the last page.

It is the will of God to believe on His Son. It is actually the sacrifice of Father to give His Son for ALL mankind.

Do you all believe this? If all is all...it's all. None should be lost.

Where's the problem? Jesus said not enough workers in the field.

i remember mentioning some kind of caveat about "
understanding what He says"

which i'm of the opinion is something someone who embraces - with comprehension - LDS doctrine has failed to do, making them a poor example of your point. maybe James gives a better example, the man who turns away from a mirror and immediately forgets what he looks like ((in re: James 1:22-27)) ?

i'm not arguing that such a person cannot receive the Lord's mercy, and i even hold hope that there are saved people among the mormons, if it is possible, and i know with God all things are. may He open their eyes, and keep them! but is what you're trying to say equivalently put here? what if someone believes scripture, but doesn't have love for his neighbor? what if someone believes 4 verses, but as soon as they look away, they don't believe 10 others?

also when did this become about being assured of someone else's salvation?
i thought this was about being sure of your own . . ?

He was pretty subtle, but if you reread his first post, what he's really been saying all along is everyone else is delusional about being saved because he knows he doesn't know for himself, but he certainly knows for many others. This really always was a "what's wrong with you" post. He's been telling each of us what is wrong with us too.

Now here is why I use the KJV

~Mat_7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Mat_11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Mat_12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Mat_18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Mat_21:31 Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Mat_26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Luk_10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.

Luk_11:11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?

Joh_5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

Joh_6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

Joh_8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Joh_14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Joh_15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Joh_17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Gal_1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Heb_1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Rev_3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

How about just answering the question. What are you afraid of, the crowds?

i really dont wish to "beat around the bush"

but just 5 years ago i was a violent agnostic criminal

living in fornication

never having read the bible

and just around 3 years ago i actually started reading it if i remember right because my heart had been changed and maybe 4 years ago is when i KNEW Jesus was real and i couldnt go without learning more

and not even 1 year ago
around the time i finished the bible and started going back to things seeking truths i missed

is when other people started mentioning the change in me through my actions

i wont lie

sometimes i wonder about my salvation

but i know Jesus is the truth and the way

so i will continue pressing forward... God willing

and maybe
if my faith is in Him

he will save me

i believe he can

and i believe he will if my faith in him is true because the inspired scriptures say so...

but like most people

there are times when i see my performance...
where i do things that... are NOT of the Holy spirit

and in these times i wonder

then i remember that they call the enemy the accuser

and i think about spiritual warfare

hahaha

i didnt want to ramble man...

maybe im not the best example for assurance

The op uses the word " know".

An orphan or a foster child has an identity issue. A belonging issue.
" where do I belong"

Do I belong to the devil or to God?

When I was a child,I had no "identity issue". I KNEW where I belonged.

The same with God.

Some here don't know. You can change that. Step into the family of God.

Cultivate an intimacy,a closeness,a soldoutness.

You feel his favor and his smile on your life and walk.

That is how you can know, without carrying a piece of paper around saying you are saved.

Simple. That's not what Jesus said. True, if you ignore the 15 verses he said before that moment and don't finish reading what he said right after that, you can change what he said to that, but not really. It's a figment of the imagination.

For example, I can keep telling people that JFK told us to "ask not," but everyone who reads (or hears) what he really said will either chuckle or get frustrated with me for changing what he did say.

Come on now. I doubt you read the OP.

But I made it simpler on post# 253. NoNameMcgee had the courage to answer it. How about you?

I would suggest you look at your own highlighted words. How could you put these words in bold and not notice that it expresses a "may be" guarantee. God gave His guarantee to "offer" grace to both Jews and gentiles. This verse speaks of God offering us His grace through faith. It is not speaking about assurance.

No, I am not a Mormon.
Your quote:

"God gave His guarantee to "offer" grace to both Jews and gentiles. This verse speaks of God offering us His grace through faith. It is not speaking about assurance."

"Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all."

Please excuse me but I used a poor translation of Romans 4:16; there is no,
"an may be guaranteed," in the Greek text.

The original would read; "Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring." There is nothing in this passage that suggests an "offering" was made as you say. Not trying to argue your point just wanting to clarify this translation. I will be more selective in the future.

The phrase; "may be guaranteed" is not in the original Greek text, the NIV translation inserted "may be guaranteed"

Greek: βεβαίαν;transliteration, bebaios: meaning; guaranteed. Def; firm and secure.

HELPS Word-studies:
949 bébaios (an adjective, derived from bainō, "to walk where it is solid") – properly, solid (sure) enough to walk on; hence, firm, unshakable; (figuratively) absolutely dependable, giving guaranteed support (security, surety).

Strong's Concordance:
bebaios: firm, secure
Original Word: βέβαιος, α, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: bebaios
Phonetic Spelling: (beb'-ah-yos)
Short Definition: firm, steadfast, enduring
Definition: firm, steadfast, enduring, sure, certain.

That's exactly the perfect answer. None of us are born again mature and eating meat. While we have had our spirit's lifed by Holy Spirit, our soul needs saved and our minds renewed. We are babes...drinking the milk. Then toddlers that fall when trying to walk but get back up again and keep trying. Then young men who have overcome the enemy...to fathers that can teach. Mature.

You are right on time. Never will be out of time. :)

Hi heart of david..

This adoption is not quite like the adoptions that we are familiar with.

If I remember correctly, it is out of Roman court adoptions. I don't think it was the greek. What happens is there are two documents presented to the court. One is the name, the relatives, the whole of the persons identity is on the document. The second is the new identity, the name change, the adoptive parents, and the relatives.

The first is completely wiped out. The new identity is all that the adopted has.

This is our identity...in Christ. A new creation man/woman. Never lived before the new birth. Brand new man, and our relatives are all who are in Him. And our Father is God, our brother is Jesus, and our mother would be Holy Spirit for wisdom is seen as a woman. :)

Has anyone ever had someone come up to them and make compliments yet you know that they aren't sincere in them...and are only trying to get into your inner circle or your "presence" for wrong motives?
