No it is not biblical. Jesus says to pray to HIM, not Mary or the saints. Jesus is our ONLY intermediary. Mary and the saints are dead, they know nothing, hear nothing, see nothing. Mary cannot answer or hear prayers.

I would give you a bible reference, if there was any.

The only bible reference for this is 1 Timothy 2:5, and even that does not specifically deal with this topic.

However, I do not see the need to pray to Mary, or saints, why not just pray to the Father in Jesus' name? There is nothing Mary can do for you, that the Father could not do!

Mary and the saints would be in Heaven but we do not pray to these for they are just believers like us who have died and now reside in Heaven. Jesus taught His disciples to pray to The Father as in The Lord's prayer, Matthew 6: 9-13. I always pray to The Father in Jesus name....to The Father but through Jesus. I hope I have explained in a way you understand.

The only way we, or our words, get to the Father is through Jesus Christ- the only mediator between God and mankind. So why would you go to anyone else? It's evil to do so anyways- as prayer is a form or worship, and Jesus says "Worship the Lord your God and serve Him ONLY"

"Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Ti 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
KJV

This says specifically that only Jesus can influence the father on our behalf.
Since ONLY Jesus can it follows that Mary can't, dead saints can't and any one else that you are inclined to pray to can't.

Men----------->through JESUS (ONE)--------->to the Heavenly Father

Men----------->through more than Jesus---------->IDOLATRY

We could provide Scriptures which show that Mary considered herself no more than a disciple of Christ and acknowledged that she needed and had a Savior. Only sinners need a Savior. BTW the saints in Heaven are very much alive, but not to be petitioned or approached for favors.

Isaiah 45:4-6 NKJV
[4] For Jacob My servant's sake, And Israel My elect, I have even
called you by your name; I have named you, though you have
not known Me. [5] I am the LORD, and there is no other; There
is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me,
[6] That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
That there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is no other;

Matthew 6:9-13
Pray, then, in this way:
‘Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
‘Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
‘Give us this day our daily bread.
‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]

there are books that support it. they are in the catholic bible. these books were thrown out as they supported these doctrines.

well, there are a bunch of books in Catholicism that are not contained in 'protestant' denominations

it would be interesting for you to supply some of those directives from the extra books

the books you speak of, were not included for more reasons than what you speculate on

however, let's see if we can those instructions you speak of

I don't know what to say (that's an expression. I usually know what to say ;)

found this very instructional site for the ever evolving Catholic reasons to pray to Mary and in fact basically ANYONE who has died and we suspect may have gone to heaven

here is a sample

The reason we pray to the saints is that they are still members of the Body of Christ. Remember, the life which Christ gives is eternal life; therefore, every Christian who has died in Christ is forever a member of the Body of Christ. This is the doctrine which we call the Communion of the Saints. Everyone in Christ, whether living or dead, belongs to the Body of Christ.
more for the transfixed and curious

be prepared to be fed information in ever spiraling curves that are totally off the charts

From this it follows that a saint in heaven may intercede for other people because he still is a member of the Body of Christ. Because of this membership in Christ, under his headship, the intercession of the saints cannot be a rival to Christ's mediation; it is one with the mediation of Christ, to whom and in whom the saints form one body.
don't say I didn't warn you...still looking for something from the Apocrypha or similar

prayers to mary come from pagan roots via the roman catholic church youre basically praying to the queen of heaven. (big no no)
As for saints they replace the pagan roots of other deities. (idolizing in other words)

Pray to God and God alone.
