Solstices mark the times of southernmost/northernmost zenith. The sun is at zenith over the Tropic of Capricorn at winter solstice. The solstice (time of year) is only marginally relevant to my argument. The Tropic is very relevant.

It is more than marginally relevant.

If you don't explain the solstice, then you're not fully explaining your point.

Its kind of like the tropics are not active if we are not in the right soltice that relates to that tropic.

The solstice in the globe model is the "tilt" towards the sun...

The flat earth is not true, for there is mountains, and hills, and holes, and different areas with different elevations, across the planet.

So listen to logic and stop the debate.

When we observe it going from light to dark,or dark to light,it appears to vanish, and appear,at one time, which would make sense on a globe earth as the sun goes down.

If you shine a flashlight you can see the dividing point of the light from the dark,as the light can only go so far.

If it rains we can see the rain ahead of us,and if it passes through our area we can observe it get dry,and then the rain as it leaves our area, causing a dividing point that we can see.

A dividing point.

If it is dark for so long, and light for so long, then the light of the sun can only go so far concerning a flat earth.

If the sun is always 3000 miles above the earth's surface why don't we see the dividing point of the light from the dark,as it goes from dark to light, and light to dark.

We should be able to observe darkness ahead of us,as it is light in our area, and see the darkness pass through our area, and then observe the light leaving our area and going off in to the distance.

There should be a dividing point for the sun is always 3000 miles above the earth's surface, and the light can only go so far,for there is night and day,so we should be able to see a dividing point between the light and the dark.

But on a globe earth it would not be like that but when the sun basically goes down the light would appear to all go,or appear in one steady stream that we can observe.

A genius with an I.Q. of 250 did a table test to prove that on a flat earth the sun can appear to come up over the horizon,by placing a camera at table level, and back about 6 feet, although it appeared to be below the table level, but he is the genius, not me,so who am I to question him,and ran a quarter across the table, and it appeared to come up over the horizon, for now you do not see it,now you do,even though it ran across a flat surface.

But the sun is not going along the earth's surface, and the earth is not behind the sun when we would observe it coming up over the horizon, and we are not floating in space to be able to observe it at the end of the earth.Funny.

But where is the dividing point that we should be able to observe of the light from the dark if the sun is always 3000 miles above the earth's surface, and the light of the sun can only go so far as it does not light the entire planet at one time.

We should be able to see with the naked eye as we are standing outside the dividing point between light and dark, for the light of the sun can only go so far,and then it is dark after that, and the sun is always 3000 miles above earth,so it is a steady light stream at the same level.

I do not get it for I know we would see a dividing point for we would have to,for we would see it dark in the distance ahead of us,while it is light in our area, and then the darkness would pass through our area, and we would see the light going away from us in to the distance, for it would have to be like that, for how can it be different.

The darkness would follow the light, and the light the darkness,at that time of the day when it goes from dark to light, and light to dark,in which would be a great amount of darkness following the light, and a great amount of light following the darkness, because the light of the sun can only go so far and have a ending point, and then darkness for the light cannot go any further.

There would have to be a dividing point that we can see that would not be like what we observe happening between it going from dark to light, and light to dark.

On a flat earth going from dark to light, and light to dark, would not appear as what we observe happening, and it does not take research for that for it seems like it would be common sense.

But it would make sense on a global earth with what we observe between light and dark, for when the sun goes down,or comes up,it lights across the planet, for it is low at that point, and makes it appear as it is being all lit up at one time from what we can observe.

It would not appear like that on a flat earth, and the sun always 3000 miles above the earth's surface.

I agree with this. The biggest problem is that most people tend to take what the scriptures say about the description of the Earth very, very literally. You got to remember, the King James is the closest account to the Holy Scriptures, and it doesn't say that the Earth is flat. I truly believe if the Lord wanted that known, He'd have made it known it was completely flat.

There's a lot wrong with the flat Earth model. Number one, it looks EXACTLY like the United Nations logo, almost a spitting image. Number two, if the sun is only 3000 miles away, it shouldn't just be spotting here or there, it should be shining light everywhere on the Earth, and in that case, when the sun rises, how come we see the sunlight reflecting off the bottom of the clouds, especially towards the Easterly clouds? On a flat Earth where the sun is supposed to be fixed and above everything, that shouldn't happen, but it does.

Another thing that bothers me is that there's an Ice Wall around our Earth supposedly, and beyond that is infinity, but nobody has ever seen this thing or even reached the edge. You'd think that with ALL the photos and videos we see of a Globe earth, someone would have substantial evidence to contradict it, but they don't. At least, I don't see it.

As far as a firmament, yes, there is a dome....it's called the atmosphere, and it extends around the entire planet, that's the firmament God put in place to protect our Earth. Don't take the four corners of the Earth literally, when it comes to that verse of scripture, that is referring to the points North, South, East, and West. That is not indicative of a flat Earth by any means.

While it is true that a lot of scientists and mathematicians have a skewed view of the so called "evolution" of man (which is completely false by the way, we know this from God's word), many of the people who work for NASA, JAXA, ESA, and so many other organizations around the world with a space program, are faith driven Christian people, and I don't believe they would stay in that field if they truly felt they were being deceived. They know the truth, and it's an exciting field to study.

Consider this, they say the moon landings were fake. But yet take Neil Armstrong, the first man to ever set foot on the lunar surface. If you read into the background of Neil Armstrong, you will find he was a devout Christian man, loving father, fighter pilot, aerospace engineer, and loving husband. If the moon landings were fake, I would have to believe that somewhere a Christian man such as Armstrong would have walked away and exposed NASA for being deceitful, yet that has never happened, and there is no record of that ever being an occurrence.

Speaking of Armstrong, I have to say, that I admire who this man was, and his belief in our Lord Jesus Christ. After Apollo 11's mission to moon in 1969, he went on a tour of old Jerusalem. When they got to the Hulda Gate, which is at the top of the stairs to the TempleMount, he asked his guide if those were the steps in which Jesus travelled, in which it was confirmed that they were. Neil's response was, "I have to tell you, I am more excited stepping on these stones where my Lord walked, than I was stepping on the moon."

I have to imagine, this was a devout saved follower of Christ, yet the Lord allowed him to see things beyond our wildest dreams and do something that not just ANYONE gets to do. If NASA and the world are in a conspiracy to try and fool the whole world.....I highly doubt this man would have been in on it. You can be saved by Christ and still believe and see the Earth is round in shape. You're not deceived by that.

Again, you assume it would burn to a crisp because you are still referencing back to the globe model specs.

Those specs are made up.

The real specs are observable and make much more sense.
I agree with you that the real specs are observable because that is how the distance from the earth to the sun was determined to be 93 to 94 million miles away depending on orbit of the earth rotating around the sun. How was it mathematically determined that the sun is only 3000 miles from the earth? If the earth was flat the light from the sun would light the earth 24 hours a day each day of the year. How is it that the moon which is 240,000 miles away farther from the earth than the sun? Seriously, the position that the earth is flat and that the sun is only 3000 miles away does not make sense.

NASA has a plane that flies at 80,000 feet.
The pilot has to wear a pressurized suit. From 80,000 feet, the curvature of the earth is clearly visible. I saw it on MythBusters.
But let me guess Mythbusters is in on conspiracy too

Nah, Mythbusters doesn't have to be in on the conspiracy. They quoted NASA after all. NASA is the party who is in on the conspiracy. Therefore any evidence that has anything to do with NASA is suspect. Mythbusters is just a pawn. ;)

Well, clearly that plane has a warped windshield that distorts the flat horizon to look curved. And the altimeter is rigged too. lulz :)

My younger brother was a well-loved preacher until he got sucked into the flat earth society in a whirlwind about a year ago. His preaching the gospel then took a back seat to promoting the NASA conspiracy. He caused my family, his friends, and so many others much concern by mass emailing erratic, gloomy message after message about how deceived we all were. All he talked about was this crazy conspiracy and neither my sister nor I could get him to realize he took a wrong detour. He passed away suddenly last March. My sister and I still cry about how sad it is that our young brother, who was once a vibrant, jovial preacher, became anxious, angry and obsessed with this flat earth conspiracy. Even his last few photographs show his handsome face etched with anxiety and doubt. He was only 57 when he passed but looked like he was in his late 70’s.

My brother died of a massive heart attack. He didn't have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, or anything that would have indicated heart problems. The coroner determined it must have been stress related. That’s what the flat earth society did to my brother.

Consider this: Jesus says, “Do not be afraid of what man can do to you.” JESUS tells us not to be anxious about anything. JESUS says come to HIM and HE will give you rest. The LORD tells us to put on HIS mind, and put every thought in subjection to HIM.

How can you rest and not be anxious when you’re obsessed with a conspiracy and preaching something other than the gospel? The flat earth conspiracy, along with every other fear-based agenda, is contrary to what the LORD teaches us. Anything that controls our mind like that is demonic and robs us of joy and peace.

There’s a site exposing the flat earth society, I believe if you Google “flatearthdeception” you’ll find it. It provides a ton of evidence, if you’re the type of person who relies on man’s evidence.

Truthfully, there’s a much easier way to know for certain that you’re not being deceived by the world, or by NASA, the gov’t, the media, etc. Please consider it for your own health and welfare.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE will direct your path.

So anything that causes fear and anxiety isn't true? Great logic there. I guess the wars going on and the spread of Islam isn't true either. The corruption of morals and promotion of satanic agendas like homosexuality isn't real either. North Korea and other nations don't have nuclear weapons and what we are shown on CNN about them isn't true (I actually believe the last one is a lie, but you probably believe it's real so it serves my point unfortunately).

Two things occurred, he started believing in a conspiracy, and his friends, family, and so many others stared referring to him as crazy, and instead of being supportive or understanding "tried to get him to realize he took a detour". If his untimely death could be blamed on something, which it cannot, I would choose the latter.

Preaching the Gospel should never take a backseat to a conspiracy, although I'm not going to take your word for it that he did this. And this website you latched onto that "exposes" flat earth, it exists for people like you looking to dismiss it. They provide false evidence and tell you what you want to hear, and you accept everything without consideration, because it leads you to the conclusion that you want.

Everyone who doesn't believe as you is crazy and obsessed. The only thoughts and ideas that are valid and true are one's that do not cause fear or anxiety. This frame of thought is what puts you into a deep sleep, and to you this may be peaceful and joyous. "Ignorance is bliss".

I am truly sorry for the loss of your brother ma'am. I know he's walking on the streets of gold with our Lord and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Flat earth really is a deception, and it's the true deception. It does rob people of peace and mind. God allows to gain knowledge, not just of His word, but also of the world in which we live in. Read the story of Neil Armstrong, he was a saved Christian man, and he landed on the moon.

This reminds me of someone else who thinks he is (or should be) the center of everything.

But we know how that will work out for him. Not well at all.

For your sake, I'm going to consider that your post is coming from a genuine love for the brethren.

With that, you are absolutely right when you say we should have tried to understand my brother. And we actually did that, we read all of the information he sent us and viewed & considered the videos he forwarded. My brother was no weak, wimpy guy; he was quite a robust, persuasive and intelligent man. I've never seen my rugged brother intimidated by anyone his whole adult life. We didn't argue with him. We did the research as he advised. But it was all he talked about and our family members grew concerned when he began exhibiting signs of great agitation, depression and fear.

He started believing in all types of conspiracies and was in a panic all of the time and his exchanges with us were angry and forceful. Not long before he passed away, he phoned my younger sister and cried hysterically that he didn't want to live anymore, that he wanted to go home with GOD. After she prayed with him and encouraged him, he hung up seemingly at peace but nobody could reach him after that. He wouldn't answer his phone nor reply to friends or family. He even moved away and gave me no address. The next we heard, his wife phoned to say he was gone.

I wished to God I had argued with my brother. I wished I had hit him over the head with something to get his mind off his worrying. In fact, that's what all my siblings say now. We should have been more emphatic about getting him to stop obsessing over conspiracies and to just trust that GOD is in control all of the time. He just didn't want to hear it.

I don't think ignorance is bliss, my friend. I'm quite familiar with the state of the world (my flesh) which GOD saved me from. It's just that now the wisdom of Romans 16 works best for me.

Be wise unto that which is good, and ignorant concerning evil; and the God of peace will crush the devil under your feet.

I miss my brother terribly. He loved Christmas time and this is the first one we have without him. I'm thankful he's with GOD in eternity now, that he isn't fearful anymore, and that I'll see him again. My hope is that if anyone is suffering from depression and anxiety over anything right now, they can turn to Christ Jesus and find rest while still on this earth.

We don't fix our eyes on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Well it sounds like it definitely negatively effected him. I'm sorry you had to witness and be helpless as he pushed people away and fell into depression and extreme paranoia. And he should have never rejected you for not believing him, and moved away like that.

I was lost and became a Christian because of "conspiracies". I was an atheist and considered "science' my religion, and things like the evolution hoax and others I'm certain your brother discovered let me back to Christ. So for me I know personally that they can be a very good thing and actually save someone and bring them back to the Lord.

You describe his behavior as the officially promoted propaganda example of what happens to someone when they become "a crazy conspiracy theorist", when I know from personal experience it was very different for me. I'm at much more peace with Christ than I was without him believing meteorites were going to hit the earth, aliens were going to invade, the sun was going to explode, I was a monkey without a soul, and the universe was pointless.

It's hard to believe it had such a negative impact on him, but I have to accept that it can effect people in very different ways. I wouldn't think a preacher would feel so helpless and full of fear at these revelations, but I did not know him or how he rationalized what he learned.

I didn't like you condemning what seemingly did this to him, because it certainly did not have that affect on me. It's true what he believed also (or I believe it is for sake of argument), so I still have to defend it. And I honestly do not agree with how you determine what is true and isn't, based on the effect it has on us. He didn't like how he started to see the world, government, society, and his personal safety after adopting these beliefs. He wanted his friends and family to understand him and be able to help him cope with his new reality, he didn't want to be alone.

I understand what he believed, and also why he reached out to everyone. I don't agree that he should have gotten angry when his assertions were rejected, and push anyone out of his life that didn't agree with him. I also don't think he should have placed so much emphasis on it and let it interrupt the peace of having a saved soul.

I was pretty obsessed like him too at first. For the first year I acted very much like him and felt the same anger, I even stopped talking to a couple friends (casual email friends) because they were atheists who were very pro-NASA. I think if he had more time to process everything and come to terms with it, he would have accepted you regardless of if you agreed with him and welcomed you back into his life.

Most people that spend their lives buying the lies that the government entities throw at us will have some sort of negative reaction when they find out the truth about some of these subjects. You have to understand that we have all been lied to and it affects all of us.

Now, in order to uncover the truth, one has to dig deep and do a lot of research because the truth is not readily available. Research takes time and effort, but once the truth is uncovered there is no going back to the old way of thinking. Because of the research necessary to reach these conclusions, the impact of the truth is much greater.

The newfound truth is so undeniable that you cannot simply forget it and not do anything about it.

This means that your perception of reality will change. You will lose trust in a lot of things including your country in which YOU and your loved ones live.

I believe your brother took Ephesians 5:11 into account when he began sharing what he had learned.

11. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

He was exposing the works of darkness and his congregation and people that he loved the most probably did not take him seriously which might have been one of the causes for his depression.

No body is at fault for the death of your brother. God knows exactly what needed to happen in his life.

These "conspiracies" are what brought me back to the Lord, and I am not the only one.

Once people see the truth and they realize that Satan is actually pulling the strings in our society some people will find it easier to believe because they can see the effects that the enemy has in their reality.

Do not condemn these "conspiracies" but instead be open to the fact that these are actual realities.

Ignes Semmelweis discovered that doctors should sanitize their hands before delivering babies and performing surgery. No one believed him and he spent his life shunned by his peers and fell into depression. He was committed to a mental institution eventually and died not long after.

"Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift wrote that it was time to stop the nonsense about the chlorine hand wash.
In 1861 Semmelweis published his principal work, Die Ätiologie, der Begriff und die Prophylaxis des Kindbettfiebers (The Etiology, Concept, and Prophylaxis of Childbed Fever). He sent it to all the prominent obstetricians and medical societies abroad, but the general reaction was adverse. The weight of authority stood against his teachings. He addressed several open letters to professors of medicine in other countries, but to little effect. At a conference of German physicians and natural scientists, most of the speakers—including the pathologist Rudolf Virchow—rejected his doctrine. The years of controversy gradually undermined his spirit. In 1865 he suffered a breakdown and was taken to a mental hospital,"

What you fail to understand is that many people you say are part of the government, aka, programs affiliated with NASA and the such, many of whom are followers of Christ are liars, that I just can't really agree with. That's why the evident truth that Neil Armstrong was a follower of Jesus and landed on the moon, and wasn't afraid to share his faith and his experiences, that's all the proof that I really need.

Any one can choose what they want to believe, but don't forget, there are MANY Christian people working for these programs. And I don't see them lying, otherwise, they are not true Christ like people

I don't say all of them are lairs. They are your fellow deceived who believes lies are truth and defend them.

I believe Neil considers himself a Christian too. I believe he is a liar when it comes to landing on the moon. Just because he is a Christian doesn't mean he will do the right thing or respond properly to the worldly threats and pleasures for perpetrating the lie. A Christian can lie to you. I'm sure Neil was very guilt ridden for what he did, but he's dead now and never chose to come forward, not that I'm aware.

If someone calls themselves a Christian that doesn't mean you can trust them. They can be lying about their faith or tell other lies unrelated to faith. Neil was a Christian though, he knows what he did was wrong and suffered for it with guilt. He's one of the only moon astronaut that rarely granted interviews, and he didn't like being called a "hero" for what he did. He also gave very cryptic messages when he did speak about the topic.

"There are great ideas undiscovered, breakthroughs available to those who can remove one of truth's protective layers"

What does this mean to you? Sounds like a man trying to warn us about seeing through deception, and that there are greater truths out there, if you can lift what is "protecting" (guarding) the truth.

Another one of his quotes is something along the lines of "How long before I cease to be remembered as a Space Man"

What does that mean to you? He was a humble person, he's not claiming he will become something greater than that. He's voicing his inner struggle and understanding that his positive image will be temporary, and then he will be remembered as a fraud actor eventually.

I'm glad he was a Christian too, he provided me some of evidence/clues of the hoax through his cries for/to help and voicing of his guilt.
