I think I am lookin at it from the believers point of view. You looked at it from Jesus point of view.
Actually, I believe we do not see the believer at the great white throne judgment, He is ressurected and given the ressurected body. He goes to the Bema Seat, where his works is tried, and he receives reward or sees his work burnt up.
So maybe the question of why never happens to begin with
