...and in with the new!

1. What’s something you’ve changed, replaced, or improved in your life?

2. What is something you’d like to change, replace, or improve but haven’t yet?

3. What’s something you never want to change or replace or doesn’t need improving?

(answering with batteries, lightbulbs, spark plugs, fuses, underwear, socks, diapers or garbage bags will earn you a time out...or in the event that nobody can actually enforce a time out, you will at least be on the receiving end of a very dramatic eye roll)

I’ll start...because I’m possibly the only crazy who’s awake at this hour.

-I replaced my Keurig, because the old one started refusing to give me more than 4 oz. of coffee at one time. Nobody rations my coffee and lives to tell about it.
I’ve changed my boundaries with people- rather, I have them now, when I didn’t before. This has caused the end of a close friendship and any relationship with my sister, but it’s better this way.

-Something I’ve been trying to improve is my overall health...it’s a work in progress, but the results so far are noticeable. I’d do better if I could give up the homemade goodies...pizza, bread, cookies...but that’s too depressing.

-A thing I’m perfectly content to leave exactly how it is would be the gray hair I’m getting in my bangs. Partly because dang it, I’ve earned those, and partly because dying my hair and keeping up with it is exhausting. If it makes me look “old”, so be it...but I’ve always admired women who don’t go crazy trying to look like they’re forever young.

"Change my mind" is not on that list, and I frequently change...

Uh...

I'll be in the time out corner.

I've let my hair go completely grey.... It's fantastic.

Wow. You're actually asking me to forego BOTH a timeout AND a very dramatic eye roll?!? That's going to be tough to resist (I went to a parochial school, you know), but I shall try (for now.)

I had to think about this for a a little bit, and for me, it seems like everything in my life needs replacing. Here are just a few examples:

1. My trusty laptop. He's been my faithful companion for 8 years, but overheated enough over the years that chunks of the outer plastic shell have melted off (to the point where there are actually exposed wires). As much as I dread it, I'm going to have to start looking for a replacement because I'm thinking it might be embarrassing if someone has to call the paramedics because I was electrocuted by my own laptop.

2. My last pair of original Skechers Shape-Ups sneakers. These were the only shoes I ever found that cushioned my feet from long, brutal days consisting of constant running back and forth and slugging things around. Unfortunately, Skechers made the claim that people could get fit just by wearing these shoes, and everyone sued them when they didn't lose 50 pounds just by wearing a pair of shoes to walk to the mailbox . And so, my beloved shoes were discontinued, and I have never been able to find a suitable replacement.

This was my very last pair :(, and as much as I tried to salvage them, my toes ripped right through the fabric when I tried to wear them yesterday. :( We're talking major sadness here, because this was truly a relationship that I wish could have lasted forever.

3. And finally, all of my internal organs. They just don't seem to be cooperating as of late. I've always been pretty healthy, but I always have a few zigs or zags that leave the "experts" scratching their heads. I keep thinking it would just be easier if I could swap them all out for upgrades.

(This list of "internal organs" would also include my brain. Seeing as there are plenty of people out there who are smarter and more creative than I am, please PM me if you would be interested in contributing.)

Something I'm fairly content with, however, is my current location. After living a gypsy-like lifestyle for a few years, it's nice to be settled into one place, and I hope I don't have to go anywhere soon for some time (who knows what God has planned though.)

And, something I hope that never changes in my life is my relationship with my Mom and Dad. I have told them often that if person is blessed, God gives them One Great Love of Their Life.

I always tell my parents that I am doubly blessed--because He gave me two. <3

I'm steadily improving my reading/writing skills. Even if you are a dyslectic, you can get better.

I'd like to learn languages...I'm trying to learn Swedish, but I'd also would like to learn to read and write French properly, which someplace back in time was my sort of native language (Cajun French).

I don't want to change my attitude. But maybe others would like me to. LOL

This is what what happened to my old diet of fast food, donuts and twinkies after I had to go to the hospital 6 weeks ago (I'm fine now though)

This is what my new diet looks like...

And I have taken up cooking like I always told myself I would.. My repertiore now includes chicken marsala, salisbury steak, whole wheat spaghetti with ground beef and tomato sauce, and filet mignon.

Heat usually kills a laptop's hard drive. You must have an immortal hard drive! One thing you can do (if you're not already) is to add some of those little rubber or felt bumpers on the bottom corners of your laptop to raise it up a bit for better cooling.

If you use it in your lap or on soft surfaces that won't allow sufficient airflow underneath, get one of these laptop cooling pads. They usually come with built-in fans that connect to a usb port, but some don't have fans...but they still provide a hard surface to let air flow under the laptop..

Hi Zero!!! :)

Thank you very much for the suggestions.

I actually have my own homemade, cheapie version... I balance my laptop on an old book (the 1986 Dictionary my Mom got me as a kid!) It took a while to get used to typing on the raised surface, but I've learned to manage it.

Unfortunately, the damage was already done.

It still keeps right on kickin', though!!!

But, I'm thinking I might try to save for a new by the end of the year.

That is the truth! One day I needed more power than the oreck could provide so I brought in my 4 horsepower shop vac and it made the oreck seem like a toy.. (and I keep mine nice and shiny too..)

I use one in the house....to help clean out the ashes of the pellet stove ;)
If you were male you would collect a few man points for using a shop vac in the house, and then instantly lose them for having a pellet stove and not a regular wood burning fireplace. ;)

Everyone knows you use a leaf blower and just blow the dust and debris out the front door. Thank God for the cordless battery operated models -- no more lingering smoke or gas fumes.

Die inside. Kill yourself every night. Let your life and this world go. Let go of everything you have grasped onto so tight all your life that has made you miserable for so long you dont realize it. Dont accept feeling like a slave to your own life. Let go of your life and be free. Chase your dreams and do that one thing all your life your heart knew you are here to do. Take chances and make sacrifices and give everything you got. But pace yourself and keep your fire lit. Its worth it. Its worth it if it means going through any hardship to get there, as long as you are chasing your passion you will have fun doing it and be glad you did and have an adventure of a story to tell even if you fail. And if you do fail you will just feel like getting back up and trying again, because you finally feel alive and doing what you are meant to do in this realm. The only thing that holds us back is fear and not believing our self. This is the difference between dreaming our lives and living our dreams.

Whats standing between you and your dream? And I dont mean a boring job promotion so you can buy a boat. I mean your real dream that you think is not possible or reality. Have you ever really thought that it may be a possibility?
