...and in with the new!
1. What’s something you’ve changed, replaced, or improved in your life?
2. What is something you’d like to change, replace, or improve but haven’t yet?
3. What’s something you never want to change or replace or doesn’t need improving?
(answering with batteries, lightbulbs, spark plugs, fuses, underwear, socks, diapers or garbage bags will earn you a time out...or in the event that nobody can actually enforce a time out, you will at least be on the receiving end of a very dramatic eye roll)
Wow. You're actually asking me to forego BOTH a timeout AND a very dramatic eye roll?!? That's going to be tough to resist (I went to a parochial school, you know), but I shall try (for now.)
I had to think about this for a a little bit, and for me, it seems like everything in my life needs replacing. Here are just a few examples:
1. My trusty laptop. He's been my faithful companion for 8 years, but overheated enough over the years that chunks of the outer plastic shell have melted off (to the point where there are actually exposed wires). As much as I dread it, I'm going to have to start looking for a replacement because I'm thinking it might be embarrassing if someone has to call the paramedics because I was electrocuted by my own laptop.
2. My last pair of original Skechers Shape-Ups sneakers. These were the only shoes I ever found that cushioned my feet from long, brutal days consisting of constant running back and forth and slugging things around. Unfortunately, Skechers made the claim that people could get fit just by wearing these shoes, and everyone sued them when they didn't lose 50 pounds just by wearing a pair of shoes to walk to the mailbox
. And so, my beloved shoes were discontinued, and I have never been able to find a suitable replacement.
This was my very last pair
, and as much as I tried to salvage them, my toes ripped right through the fabric when I tried to wear them yesterday.
We're talking major sadness here, because this was truly a relationship that I wish could have lasted forever.
3. And finally, all of my internal organs. They just don't seem to be cooperating as of late. I've always been pretty healthy, but I always have a few zigs or zags that leave the "experts" scratching their heads. I keep thinking it would just be easier if I could swap them all out for upgrades.
(This list of "internal organs" would also include my brain. Seeing as there are plenty of people out there who are smarter and more creative than I am, please PM me if you would be interested in contributing.)
Something I'm fairly content with, however, is my current location. After living a gypsy-like lifestyle for a few years, it's nice to be settled into one place, and I hope I don't have to go anywhere soon for some time (who knows what God has planned though.)
And, something I hope that never changes in my life is my relationship with my Mom and Dad. I have told them often that if person is blessed, God gives them One Great Love of Their Life.
I always tell my parents that I am doubly blessed--because He gave me two. <3
