I really don't care at this point, you remind me of a little kid who isn't getting his way and shuts himself off from the rest of the world because nobody will agree with him. You're really need a big piece of humble pie

how does your spotlight make a pool of light the shape of the yellow area in the gif below?

((red dot indicates position on earth's surface where sun is directly overhead))

A spotlight doesn't shine in all directions from a spherical object.

And it doesn't have a moon "governing the night"
Genesis 1:16
New Living Translation
God made two great lights--the larger one to govern the day, and the smaller one to govern the night. He also made the stars.

Our senses are wrong and amateur videos are fake, NASA is right and their intentions are pure. Eclipses are calculated using the globe, thus it's accurate, although we never see these calculations or the actual globe model they are working with
what do you mean "we've never seen the model or the calculations" ??

maybe you haven't, because you actually have no physics/astronomy/math education. and maybe ((quite probably)) that's typical of people who think the earth is flat -- no actual education in physical models.

but you can sit there and derive all the equations for yourself. physics and geometry isn't 'hidden' -- all you need is a pencil and paper, or a stick and a smooth patch of dirt.

here's one of ten million places where instructions are presented on how to proceed with the math:

https://www.eso.org/public/outreach/eduoff/aol/market/collaboration/eclipse99/projects/solecl-2d.htm

((assuming your google is broken?))

i really wish you people would start learning how to think visually, to picture geometry in your head, and to draw your own darn diagrams

address the issue, pckts. we know what sunlight/daylight distribution on earth is. your models fail.

quit deflecting and start drawing a realistic diagram; you're totally wasting every minute you aren't spending doing this.

I'm not running away offended, I'm running away because I don't like interacting with you. Except for when you told us about the muslim eating pork at your job, that was fun.
See, it's not all that bad now is it?

You have TWO degrees, not one but TWO.

Just wanted to point that out.

I wasn't deflecting, I was telling you that your entire view on the subject is too simple. Consider the moon has something to do with the darkness, and think of the sun as something more complex than a spotlight.

When you create a stupid argument, you can easily disprove it. Think outside the box and be more complex in your reasoning, and perhaps you can enlighten yourself.....start with the moon landing, you can figure that one out I think.

Not complex enough? I think he has presented more math than any of you have collectively throughout this entire thread.

Dude you really are a selfish attention seeking fool. I don't have an age or identity issue, I'm not acting like a little child like you. And quoting scripture makes you look all the more arrogant proud

Our senses are wrong and amateur videos are fake, NASA is right and their intentions are pure. Eclipses are calculated using the globe, thus it's accurate, although we never see these calculations or the actual globe model they are working with, it's impossible they are using a model more similar to the flat earth and then telling us they used the globe. Impossible.

This is what the universe and your world looks like, feast your eyes for they are starving on conspiracy:

You are too foolish to realize your body and all the equipment we have access to cannot detect the beauty and majesty of the true cosmos. And you are too paranoid and insecure to trust that NASA has this equipment at their disposal.
Wow, neato gif. The calculations are easy and public knowledge. How's it you haven't studied it?

Well, no, actually some of us have experience, and have seen the evidence first hand with our own eyes, and know other people with experience whom we trust.

I do, however, agree with your last part, that there are not many Christians at the various helms.

As for understanding why y'all believe what you do, I think some of you flat-liners may have a trust issue. I think you may need to get out more, do some traveling, I don't know, make more friends that have traveled, that you can trust. So, what DID get you started in this belief? And why DO you persist?
Maybe a trip around the world would be enlightening and educational as well.

4, actually. And at least one happens to be in 'thinking outside the box'

I thought that was amusing too. Maybe it was a stuffed pork chop, those are the best.

You don't get night on a flat earth without resorting to obvious lies about the nature of geometry, perspective and optical beam paths unless you resort to 'spotlight' description.

No spherical light emitting object over a planar disc surface makes an illumination pattern like this either.

However understanding that the azimuthal projection map is a device for rendering a globe on a 2d surface, and looking at a 3d model of sunlight on a globe varying over seasons with respect to axial tilt, observational reality matches perfectly with model.

Too bad, but flat earth models simply do not represent reality.
Anyone reading this still think earth is a flat disc? Then do something useful. Quit repeating thoroughly discredited, false statements and lying models, and come up with an actual model that actually reflects known physical laws and actually is able to describe well known, observable, repeatable, measurable phenomenon like sunset, lunar phases, daylight distribution, the movement of stars in both hemispheres, etc etc etc.

Everything else you say about this is waste of time. All your arguments have already been repeatedly shown to be flawed and wrong. If it's reality, you should be able to describe it in a way that actually works. No such model exists that I've seen in over 20 years of discussing the topic. So you believe the earth is flat? Then go find that true model that stands up to inspection and criticism. All those arguments you have now? Not one stands up to scrutiny.

I'm sorry that pkts decides to leave, because people giving him honest reactions and criticising bad logic and false models doesn't sit well with him.

I'm not hoping he'll find a different place where people don't actually tell him the truth when he's wrong though. That might make him more comfortable, to not be challenged when he's deceived, but it won't be good for him or for anyone he makes his disciples.

Fizzies Theory of Heliocentric Mental Projection -
a Defense of the Flat Earth:

Ya know, I'm not that well studied in physics, but the word "physics" does sound like the word "fizzies", and I think that's a prophetic sign for the end times, clearly showing the realm of science has been taken over by bloated academicians with too little time for a proper meal who just need a good burp to relieve themselves of their crazy theories about big round moving planets which are, in reality, nothing more than a mental projection of their own indigestion.

So, there you have it.

My model of the solar system posits the Copernican Theory is nothing more than a man's mental projection of his own indigestion, and that is derived from my profound and lifelong study of "fizzies", relying predominantly on the "burping scientist" method of analysis.

You can find my work peer reviewed in the American Journal of Indigestion, Psychiatric Anomalies, Astrophysics, and Pies.
