Why didn't we have all these school walkouts when I was in school?? The most we could hope for was a fire drill... :(

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Snow days, fall break, spring break, now protest walk-outs... Where was all this stuff when I was in high school? I mean we don't even have to HAVE snow for them to cancel school here, just a mild chance in the forecast. Now they have walk-outs on top of all that?

I feel cheated. Somebody owes me a lot of vacation days.

7 years ago at a youth rally in my church, an evangelist was invited to preach. He mentioned how the adults love to say "the youth of tomorrow". However he said "no, they're the youth of today". That's why people should take young people seriously because God is using us right now at an early age to create change. Youth taking charge is what we're seeing, yes I know the protests today have nothing to do with evangelizing but it's proof that young people today are not waiting till they're older to fight for change.

Well I for one, do not approve of high school students getting involved with political issues. If I heard of this from one of my kids or grandkids, I would set them straight in quick order. We need to be careful of political change, as that is how the devil runs things. He does his evil little by little, and he starts with our children.

If you were to ask that mass of kids protesting about their thoughts on gay marriage, you'd probably get about 80-85 percent for it. Young people idolize celebrities and their far leftist views. If you want you children wise, sit them down and talk to them about what God expects from them. Make them read Proverbs, which is a programmed course in Biblical wisdom.

Prov. 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."
Prov. 22:15: "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."

One observation I appreciate with American politics. There us room for experience and lived life. Here an old politician is 50. After that they find someone between 25-30 to replace him.

I am all for new ideas and to let young politicians and leaders to get room to grow into perfection. But to throw away wisdom and experience is pure folly.

Since Silly and I quit talking I haven't really prayed. Not on purpose, no rebellion or anything. I didn't realize it for a while, actually. And when I did I felt like I "should" but never did.
But I made the mistake, last night, of looking at pics of her. I'd forgotten how beautiful she was. It genuinely surprised me that she still could mesmerize me the way she did.
The downsound was I did this right before going to sleep. So, I dreamt about her. It was a version of her filtered through my hopes and fears, and not fully her. But her enough that I knew who she was.
I suppose it's no surprise I dreamt of her. The past week it seemed I'd have multiple thoughts a day of what it would be like having a future with her. Maybe I'd feel an anxiety or fear or something negative and then flash to how I wish she were there. She has a calming affect on me. Made me feel more at ease with myself or what I was going through. So with the ideas of a future and the issues I'm dealing with now I've been missing her more. Even missing her in my future, which is weird to me haha.
While I'm not convinced this dream was from God (and anyone that wants to argue that point save your breath) I do remember the last thing she said in the dream, which maybe God threw in.
She said "pray for me", then the dream ended and I woke up. I stated to pray but fell back asleep two seconds later haha.
I did pray for her. And will from now on, and pray more in general now.
But that is so like her, it represented her so well. That one short line, coming from her, was enough to push me just enough to set me in motion again. She did that a lot. I miss that. Even 100s of miles away and not talking she, in one way or another, pushes me to do better, be better.
She, of course, would deny that it was her, but God. She always said that. And no doubt God had His hand in things. But it still was that one person that affected me in ways none other had. So that still speaks to me about that person.
Not the most popular Christian attitude but like it or not that's how I see things.
At any rate, I miss Silly.

In my information systems class, we talked about data having an identity. In one definition, identity is something that never changes. In databases, identity is the primary key. It's what's used to identify data and for it to be accurate, it must always be the same.

I thought this was interesting because, in our generation, a person's identity is defined by the society. Society changes, so it stands to reason, if our identities are based on that, we're on shaky ground.

My bible tells me, however, that my identity is in Christ. That who I am is beloved of the Lord, apart from my failures and shortcomings, apart from my achievements and my good intentions. My righteousness is in Christ and I'm justified, not by the law, but that of His grace. This identity doesn't change. Whatever the society calls me, whatever I call myself, I remain the beloved of Christ - one He died and gave Himself up for. Ain't nothing ever gonna change that.

Computers understand this concept clearly. It's high time for humans to catch up.

We're not saying I'm thoroughly exhausted and tired today. We're just saying I was so out of it at the end of my shift that instead of taking off my work phone headset, I took off my glasses instead. And then realized that I couldn't see and then figured out what it was I was supposed to be taking off.

Joe, you have hardly commented at all the last few weeks. I suppose it is because you've been working so much. How is it going? What do you do?

Pineapple on pizza is my favorite. It baffles me that anyone could dislike it.

It is once again that time of year when warm fuzzy blanket season gives way to hiking and biking season.

I am at the University contemplating the meaning of life.

Here I am, too old to study, yet I am seriously trying to finally get my master's degree. I have credits enough for three bachelor degrees, and it is time to grow up.

Feeling like a dinosaur I don't even try to fit in. I am the same age or older than the professors, and I am somehow feeling like a failure not having managed to do this earlier. And I feel old and tired. I am not used to write those academic papers that say nothing else than an one-liner would do on pages after pages. I like to say what I need to say, and then I am done.

Still I enjoy being here. i have tons of good memories from previous studies starting back over 25 years ago. I love the knowledge and the intellectual talk. Sometimes I listen in to young students trying so hard to be intellectual, and it amuses me. It is like another world. And what is the best, is that here I am not judged by my physical apperance or ability, but for my mind and intellect. I feel free from my body's limitations. Perhaps it reminds me of what Heaven would be like. The freedom to be who we all are created to be.

And advertisements for tanning beds and gyms start springing up like daffodils...
