Not sure why anyone would think the earth is flat when you can see it from space
Their whole argument is that they don't believe anyone HAS seen it from space, all made up you see, moon landings, space station, all of it. Conspiracy. There is absolutely no evidence they will believe short of actually taking them up there for a look-see. Read the whole thread. absolute first-rate goofy!

Amazing must be a lot of countries all united in this conspiracy according to the believers, not to mention all the satellite photos must have photoshop built in the satellites and the earth must be the only square planet according to Astronomy in the universe:)

Yes guys I guess sometimes we all see what we want to see when the truth may already be right in front of us.
Right again! The Lord tells us those with ears, let them hear & those with eyes let them see. I don't believe He's referring to literal ears and eyes as most of us have those; yet most of us (i.e., the world) doesn't see or hear. I believe He's referring to us coming to an understanding that He is Lord of lords & King of king; & that everything was made by Him and for Him & as such, belongs to Him. It's an all-inclusive everything.

Yes He was talking about hearing and seeing in the Spirit.

We really ought not to tie God's word to conspiracy theories, it's quite out of context.

If the earth is flat, does that mean the other planets of the universe including the moon and sun are flat too?

Yes. :D Except the sun is a giant flashlight with a 60 trillion watt bulb (prove it's not!)

724 posts too late.

This is post #100

Such information has already been given to you in other comments on this thread as well as others. You simply won't listen to reason.

Really? All translations of the Hebrew "khug" say "circle". You really don't know what you are talking about when it comes to scholarship.

In Italian, Isaiah 40:22
22 Egli è colui che sta assiso sul globo della terra, e gli abitanti d’essa son per lui come locuste; egli distese i cieli come una cortina, e li spiega come una tenda per abitarvi;

"globo" means "sphere"/"ball", where we get the term "Globe"
And in Hebrew the LITERAL meaning of the word "khug" is "Sphere"/"ball".

"Khug" is not used in the Bible to describe a flat circle or a disk.
You cannot take what people wish this word to mean and then state that is how it was used by the writers of the Bible.

The Hebrew word for a flat circle, by the way is "cabab".
"So he had the ark of the LORD taken around the city, circling it once; then they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp"- Joshua 6:11

So how do the rings around Saturn gravitate?

I thought this was a joke thread!  ;)
Some people are actually very very serious about this. We've actually had a couple people leave the site over their flat theories being quite poorly received.

I don't wanna read through umpteen pages of conflicting comments, but is there like a Readers Digest Condensed version of why it's so important to some people to believe the earth is flat? I mean, what would the government gain by "tricking" people into believing the earth is round? Also, if the Word says this world is temporary, what difference does it make, the shape of this planet? And didn't the Lord tell us not to worry about the things of the world, not to be anxious about anything, take no thought for our life, and to set our sights on things above and not on this earth? Doesn't obsession with conspiracy theories run counter to the Lord's wisdom for us?

Hi AuntieAnt, you raise a Most Excellent point: The Lord does, in fact, tell us to "look to the things which are not seen, & not to the things which are seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, and the things unseen, eternal" (my paraphrase).

I don't see any harm in discussing anything really because we are still in the world. Communication, to me, is a most important thing. To me, it doesn't matter whether one's position is true or won't be changed; the important thing is the communication itself - the talking amongst ourselves. :)

Unfortunately, I am unable to speak as to whether or not the contributions in this forum constitute an obsession as that goes to their hearts. I can only judge by words and actions and only after I've pulled the plank out of my own eye. :) <3

Thanks!

That argument has already been brought up repeatedly. It's changed nothing. This entire subject is a pointless exercise in beating a dead horse, since no one comes here to listen but to correct. Like the BDF, but about flat earth instead.

Hey Terrie, nice to meet you, sis. I love studying science and discussion theories with folks, too. The comment I made about "obession" was regarding people believing there's a huge conspiracy going on at NASA and with our government. It seems fear based, ya know? The Lord tells us not to be afraid and that He has everything under control. He also tells us He will not let us be deceived when we are walking in Him. That's the point I was making, does that make sense?

Here's an interesting commentary:

Hi Auntie. Nice to meet you too! Thanks for the additional explanation. Obviously, in my world, more words - but not too many, like now - are preferred to less.

The Lord does tell us to not be afraid & so I'm not. He does tell us to wait on & trust in Him. I'm not afraid better than the other 2; yet, I do not worry about the future, or the conspracies, or the government. My only concern is whether or not I do what's Right in His Eyes and to do my best at it today.

You may be correct in your assessment of the obsession issue. People, as a general rule, do tend to get carried away. I've been known to do that a few times myself. :) I will check out your link.

Thanks!

I've seen the earth from space.

I'm in space right now.

And I can tell you, with absolute certainty, the earth is definitely....

come on, I'm not gonna give it away that easy.
