Romans 13:1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

It was only in Paris, this law was not enforced and was revoked in 2013.
That doesnt matter! This crazy law was active for 200 years and it is certainly not the Only crazy law that God/the governments established around the world.

God established husband to be over his wife. Does that mean that everything the husband does or wants is directly from God? No.

The position is from God.

Doubt no more.

Ro 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:

For the cause of Christ

This wich you have stated doesnt sadisfy me at all.. even if you did good but Wore pants then you would have ben subjected to the law of the land and punished by the government wich God establishes. Or do you Think it is right for People who do evil to be Published by ridicolous laws?

You seem to be looking at this from a stance I cannot quite understand....

Do you know of moses and the pharaoh?

sorry i wasn't trying to talk down to you... i haven't seen you around before

and on this thread we get everything from sinless perfectionist work salvation people to atheists and everything in between

the point is.....

God does indeed establish who has and who does not have "authority"

much good comes from this

but to us less than perfect beings can see "current" situations as ... silly... (women wearing pants)

or down right wicked (the pharaoh was my example of this)

but there is a purpose to all of it
that ultimately will be used for the greater good

if a saved... born again believer who happens to be a woman wears pants in france is she any less saved?

no...

but for us to be effective witnesses to those without the truth (Jesus)

we ought to obey the laws of man tied to the land we stand on

this is where the verse already posted comes into play

"Ro 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same"

if there comes a time where we are faced with doing "good"

OR

following the law of man

(choosing to do good against a wicked law is much different from breaking the law in hopes good will come)

we shouldnt be afraid to stand for whats right

sorry for my long winded response....

maybe i should have first asked

what it is you "doubt"

This particular text is a reference to the law of being subject to the High Priest and the priesthood, the rulers of Israel befor the kings, and the kings were anointed to be in their office..

When Paul was taken before the High Priest of that year, he did not know him, and he spoke in rough terms to the HP, but when he realized it was not simply some political person but the High Priest, he immediately apologized for being disrespectful.

He refers to the leaders of the assemblies, not to the Herods, Ceasars and Pilates of those day.

How can this possibly apply to political leaders who do the work of satan? Impossible....

Our Authority is Jesus Chrsit, our King now and foreer, amen.

+++God established government to keep ORDER and to punish wicked men. Some laws enacted by men are foolish and unbiblical. Our responsibility is to pray for leaders and to get involved in government to see things are changed like abortion and righteous laws.

Well the dialect was different, if you got speeding ticket the curse would be your fine and gods, with a lower case G is more like judges in this context, just like lords meant property owners

i was going to reply with the same response but you beat me to it.
the majority of the rulers are corrupt and rotten to the core, on the opposite end of the spectrum from godly. it makes no sense that these would be the kind of leaders the Lord chooses.

Those instructions pretty much allows the Church to be accepted in any of the Earth's many peoples and their cultures. We are here to serve our fellow man as priests off the New Covenant, working with the Spirit to lift Jesus up in the power of his sacrifice. We are here to suffer for his name's sake and like Jesus, we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

It has nothing to do with God but everything to do with those in positions of authority.

All offence but if you don't believe in G-d this argument is stupid/mute... (people get offended when I say stupid... but stupid is stupid... irrelevant... of no resolve... to me.... so to me I don't care if people don't like my "word, stupid)....Do you believe there is a G-d you have to answer to? I need a starting point of your heart....
