And God will give immortality to His children. How come you forgot that?
But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel (2 Tim 1:10).
Since God is already immortal, for whom is this "life and immortality through the Gospel" other than for His saints?
SO YOU OWE ME AN APOLOGY FOR SAYING MY POST WAS HERETICAL.
I have not forgotten this, but I do understand that as a human we do not have immortality. Those who are saved at the resurrection are given immortality at that time. Pleaseread the following passage carefully...
1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—
When?
1Co 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and
the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
The time frame is the return of Christ and the
DEAD are raised incorruptible. Notice they are dead and are resurrected to life. Here is an inset to show how we are resurrected...
1Co 15:35 But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?"
1Co 15:36 Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive
unless it dies.
1Co 15:42 So also
is the resurrection of the dead.
The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.
1Co 15:43 It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.
1Co 15:44 It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
So let's read on...
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality.
What is the word used here for mortal? From Strong's...
G2349
θνητός
From G2348; liable to die: - mortal (-ity).
Mortals, those who can die must put on immortality. What is immortality?
G110
ἀθανασία
From a compound of G1 (as a negative particle) and G2288; deathlessness: - immortality.
This occurs at the resurrection. Notice the next couple of verses. They are in the future tense...
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY."
1Co 15:55 "O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING? O HADES, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY?"
When does this occur?
1Th 4:13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
1Th 4:15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive
and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
1Th 4:17 Then we who are alive
and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
What did Christ himself say about the resurrection?
Joh 5:25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
Joh 5:26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
Joh 5:27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.
Joh 5:28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice
Joh 5:29 and come forth— those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
As far as an apology, if I were wrong about the dead and the resurrection to life I would gladly apologize but I will never apologize for the truths revealed in the scripture.
